Great Britain and Ireland won 5 of the 6 foursomes but American dominated in the singles, winning 9 of the 12 matches. Michelle Wie became the youngest ever Curtis Cup player, at the age of 14.

Formby is a town and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton, Merseyside, England, which had a population of 57,098 at the 2023 Census.Historically in Lancashire, three manors are recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 under "Fornebei", Halsall, Walton and Poynton. Cockle raking and shrimp fishing lasted into the 19th century. By 1872, the township and sub-district was made up of two chapelries (St Peter's and St Luke's), Birkdale township, the hamlets of Ainsdale and Raven-Meols and Altcar parish. Formby was built on the plain adjoining the Irish Sea coast a few miles north of the Crosby channel.A commuter town for Liverpool, Formby is also a tourist destination with day trippers attracted to its beaches, sand dunes and wildlife, particularly the endangered red squirrel and natterjack toad. The area is conserved by the National Trust, and designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Range High School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in Formby, Merseyside, England. It was built during the early 1970s after a contracted period of delays and was necessary due to the increasing overcrowding at nearby Formby High School. The local primary schools St. Luke's and Woodlands act as feeder schools to Range High. The school is one of the few schools in the country to have received five consecutive 'outstanding' ratings from OFSTED. In 2016, the school was one of only three schools in the area to achieve a positive Progress 8 score on the new national school performance measures, while the 2019 was the highest of any 11-18 secondary school in Sefton. The school received a disappointing Ofsted judgement in 2018 having had five previous consecutive outstanding judgements.

St Peter's Church is in Green Lane, Formby, Sefton, Merseyside, England, and is an active Anglican parish church in the diocese of Liverpool. It was built in 1746 to replace a chapel on another site that had been destroyed in a storm. The church built at this time is in Georgian style. It was extended at the east end in 1873, and this part of the church is in Gothic Revival style. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Ravenmeols is a Metropolitan Borough of Sefton ward in the Sefton Central Parliamentary constituency that covers the village of Ince Blundell and the nearby hamlets of Lady Green and Carr Houses, the village of Little Altcar, and the eastern half of the town of Formby including the eastern half of the area known as Freshfield. The population of this ward taken at the 2011 census was 12,065.
