Gibson Brands Inc. (formerly Gibson Guitar Corporation) is an American manufacturer of guitars, other musical instruments, and professional audio equipment from Kalamazoo, Michigan, and now based in Nashville, Tennessee. The company was formerly known as Gibson Guitar Corporation and renamed Gibson Brands Inc. on June 11, 2013.Orville Gibson started making instruments in 1894 and founded the company in 1902 as the Gibson Mandolin-Guitar Mfg. Co. Ltd. in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to make mandolin-family instruments. Gibson invented archtop guitars by constructing the same type of carved, arched tops used on violins. By the 1930s, the company was also making flattop acoustic guitars, as well as one of the first commercially available hollow-body electric guitars, used and popularized by Charlie Christian. In 1944, Gibson was bought by Chicago Musical Instruments (CMI), which was acquired in 1969 by Panama-based conglomerate Ecuadorian Company Limited (ECL), that changed its name in the same year to Norlin Corporation. Gibson was owned by Norlin Corporation from 1969 to 1986. In 1986, the company was acquired by a group led by Henry Juszkiewicz and David H. Berryman. In November 2018, the company was acquired by a group of investors led by private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts. Gibson sells guitars under a variety of brand names and builds one of the world's best-known guitars, the Gibson Les Paul. Gibson was at the forefront of innovation in acoustic guitars, especially in the big band era of the 1930s; the Gibson Super 400 was widely imitated. In 1952, Gibson introduced its first solid-body electric guitar, the Les Paul, which became its most popular guitar to date—designed by a team led by Ted McCarty. In addition to guitars, Gibson offers consumer electronics through the Gibson Pro Audio division, which includes KRK. On May 1, 2018, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, and announced a restructuring plan to return to profitability by closing down unprofitable consumer electronics divisions such as Gibson Innovations. The company exited Chapter 11 bankruptcy in November 2018.In January 2020, the company launched Gibson TV, an online television network focused on guitars and music culture.

Nashville School of the Arts (NSA) is a public magnet high school including grades 9-12 for arts-interested students located in Nashville, Tennessee. Each student enrolls in one or more of the nine conservatories within the school; dance, theatre arts, literary arts, visual arts, and music (including choral arts, band, orchestra, guitar, and piano). Students must audition, interview, or write an essay to be accepted. There is no lottery admission to NSA. Students are expected to study in their respective arts and simultaneously complete the same academic curriculum as all other Metropolitan Nashville Public School students. While the school focuses on the arts, their academic scores rank among the top four in the MNPS school system, and Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program scores are above the Davidson County average.

Greenwood Cemetery is situated at 1428 Elm Hill Pike, Nashville in Davidson County, Tennessee, United States. When opened in 1888, it was only the second cemetery in Nashville for African Americans.

The Anna Russell Cole Auditorium is a historic building on the campus of Nashville School of the Arts in Nashville, Tennessee, U.S. It was built in 1894. It was named in honor of the wife of Confederate Colonel Edmund William Cole, who founded the Randall Cole Industrial School in 1885. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since April 17, 1980. The building is not used or maintained.

Buchanan's Station was a fortified stockade established around 1784 in Tennessee. Founded by Major John Buchanan, the settlement was located in what is today the Donelson neighborhood of Nashville, Tennessee. On September 30, 1792, it was the site of the critical Battle of Buchanan's Station during the Cherokee–American wars of the late eighteenth century. The assault by a combined force of around 300 Chickamauga Cherokee, Muscogee Creek, and Shawnee, nominally led by Chief John Watts, was repelled by 15 gunmen under Major Buchanan defending the station. Although smaller raids continued in the region, it was the last major Native American attack on the American settlements in the Cumberland.

Glencliff High School is an American public high school in Nashville, Tennessee. It was built in 1957 and added onto in 1977.

Airdrie, a.k.a. Petway House or the Buell-King House, is a historic house and former plantation in Nashville, Tennessee. Built as a log house from 1797 to 1808, it was a Southern plantation with African slaves in the Antebellum era. After the American Civil War, it belonged to Union veterans.

Mount Olivet Cemetery is a 206-acre (83 ha) cemetery located in Nashville, Tennessee. It is located approximately two miles East of downtown Nashville, and adjacent to the Catholic Calvary Cemetery. It is open to the public during daylight hours.

Genesco Inc. is an American publicly owned specialty retailer of branded footwear and accessories and is a wholesaler of branded and licensed footwear based in Nashville, Tennessee. Founded as the Jarman Shoe Company in 1924 as a footwear manufacturer, the company changed its name to the General Shoe Company in 1931 and became a public company in 1939. The company took its current name, Genesco, in 1959. Genesco exited footwear manufacturing in 2002 and now contracts with independent, third parties located outside the United States to manufacture its branded and licensed footwear. In June 2011, Genesco acquired U.K. retail chain and web business Schuh, which gave them an already well-established grounding in a market outside of the U.S.

The Cole House is a historic house in Nashville, Tennessee. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since December 27, 1974. The original portion of the Cole House at 2001 Lebanon Pike and shown on Wilbur Foster's 1871 Map of Davidson County, is reputed to have been constructed c.1859. According to local legend and family tradition, Edmund Cole constructed the front portions of this structure for his first wife who died in 1869. The house is significant as an example of early Tennessee vernacular architecture and is the only one of three Cole residence remaining.

Mount Ararat Cemetery is a historic cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee established in 1867 by and for African Americans.A historical marker commemorates its history. In 1983 it was acquired by Greenwood Cemetery. One of the most notable markers is the grave of the Reverend Nelson G. Merry, the founding pastor of the First Baptist Church, Capitol Hill, in Nashville.

The Lebanon Road Stone Arch Bridge is a historic bridge over Brown's Creek in Nashville, Tennessee, U.S.. It was designed by J. A. Jowett, and its construction was completed by the Foster and Creighton Company in 1888. From its construction to 1925, it was used by drivers on Lebanon Road. There is also a water main on the bridge to carry water from a water plant to the Eighth Avenue South Reservoir. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since May 13, 1987.
