Darlington Town is a football club based in Darlington, in County Durham, England. The club was formed in 2018, taking the place in the Wearside League of the reserve side for Darlington F.C., which itself had formed by the movement in 2016 of Horden Colliery Welfare F.C. to Darlington.They are currently members of the Wearside League and play at Eastbourne Sports Complex in Darlington.

Horden Community Welfare Football Club is a football club based in Horden, County Durham, England. The club was formed as Horden Athletic in 1907, changing its name to Horden Welfare in 1928, and joined the North Eastern League in 1935, reaching the second round of the FA Cup in the 1938–39 season. After the assets of the original Colliery Welfare were transferred to a new club in Darlington in 2016, Community Welfare was formed in 2017 and has regained the former club's place in the Northern League. They are currently members of the Northern League Division Two and play at Welfare Park in Horden. The ground has one stand, which consists of mainly seating, however below this there is some terracing as well.

Horden Colliery was a coal mine situated in Horden, near Peterlee in County Durham.

Horden is a village and electoral ward in County Durham, England. It is situated on the North Sea coast, to the east of Peterlee, approximately 12 miles south of Sunderland. Horden was a mining village until the closure of the Horden Colliery in 1987. Main features include the Welfare and Memorial Parks and St Mary's church. It is connected to the villages of Blackhall Colliery and Blackhall Rocks to its south by a spectacular rail viaduct which spans Castle Eden Dene near Denemouth. Horden Dene provides Horden's northern boundary with Easington Colliery.

Peterlee is a town in County Durham, England. It lies between Sunderland to the north, Hartlepool to the south, the Durham Coast to the east and Durham to the west. It gained town status in 1948 under the New Towns Act 1946. The act also created the nearby settlement of Newton Aycliffe and later Washington, Tyne and Wear.

Dene Academy (formerly Dene Community School) is a coeducational secondary school located in Peterlee, County Durham, England.Established in 1962, in November 2012 the school relocated to a new building on the same site. Previously a community school administered by Durham County Council, in September 2019 Dene Community School converted to academy status and was renamed Dene Academy. The school is now sponsored by the Advance Learning Partnership. Dene Academy offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for pupils. Most graduating students go on to attend East Durham College.

Horden (also known as Horden Peterlee during the planning stage) is a railway station on the Durham Coast Line, which runs between Newcastle and Middlesbrough via Hartlepool. The station, situated 10 miles 74 chains (17.6 km) south-east of Sunderland, serves the villages of Horden, Blackhall Colliery and Easington along with the town of Peterlee in County Durham, North East England. It is owned by Network Rail and managed by Northern Trains. The station opened on 29 June 2020, following a £10.55 million investment. It is the second station to have been located in the village, having replaced an earlier station, located approximately 200 yards (180 m) further south, which closed on 4 May 1964 during the Beeching cuts.

Easington railway station served the town of Easington Colliery and Easington Village in County Durham, North East England. It was located on the Durham Coast Line between the stations at Horden and Seaham (originally Seaham Colliery).

Easington Colliery is a town in County Durham, England, known for a history of coal mining. It is situated to the north of Horden, a short distance to the east of Easington Village. The town suffered a significant mining accident on 29 May 1951, when an explosion in the mine resulted in the deaths of 83 men. Easington had a population of 4,959 in 2001, and 5,022 at the 2011 Census.The town's prominence increased after its use as the fictional Everington in the film Billy Elliot (2000), starring Jamie Bell.
