Orton, Staffordshire

Wombourn railway station was the main intermediate station on the Wombourne Branch Line, situated at the Bratch. It was opened by the Great Western Railway in 1925 and closed in 1932. It was a grandiose affair with a goods yard and many station amenities. This, however, didn't stop poor patronage which led to the station's closure a mere seven years after opening. It remained in use for freight traffic until the line passing through the station was closed on 24 June 1965. The building survives, however, and is now a tearoom, popular with walkers, and an information centre. It also is the second only station building to still be still in situ on the South Staffordshire Railway Walk. The station itself was named Wombourn, the standard spelling of the time, in preference to the spelling Wombourne. This is the result of a decision made by the Great Western Railway, who feared confusion with the similarly named Wimborne.

Penn Halt was the smallest of all stops on the Wombourne Branch Line. It was opened by the Great Western Railway in 1925 and closed in 1932. The line was single track and the halt was a single platform. It suffered from poor patronage, as with all the stations on the branch. This may have been, in part, due to the somewhat strange positioning of the station by the GWR, several miles from the nearest settlement. All that remains is a lot of bushes and a sign stating where the halt once was. This is now part of the South Staffordshire Railway Walk which covers the trackbed from Tettenhall railway station to Gornal Halt railway station.

The Bratch is an area of Wombourne in South Staffordshire, England, noted for its industrial heritage and more recently as a way station for walkers, riders and cyclists. Formerly, it was a small, separate hamlet, and became fully absorbed into Wombourne only in the 20th century. Population details for the 2011 census can be found under Wombourne.

Lower Penn is a village in South Staffordshire, situated to the south-west of Wolverhampton, West Midlands. The Civil Parish covers the area of the historic Parish of Penn that is not now covered by the city of Wolverhampton and thus covers a wider area than that immediately surrounding the village. Part of the parish is considered by the ONS to be part of the Wolverhampton sub-area of the West Midlands conurbation. Lower Penn has a village hall known as Victory Hall, and a pub/restaurant, The Greyhound.

Wombourne High School (formerly Ounsdale High School) is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in Wombourne, Staffordshire, England. It is situated on Ounsdale Road in the west of the village, and stands on an adjacent site to the local leisure centre. It also has an Invictus sixth form base campus on site for 16- to 19-year-olds, which has a built 6th form centre detachment which was opened by the pop star Beverley Knight. The schools is currently undergoing building, this includes; New window fixtures, A secondary entrance to the reception area with a disabled ramp and stairs. The school has approximately 1,200 pupils and provides education at Key Stage 3, GCSE and sixth form. Its current head teacher is Dr. Gemma Smith who took over this position in September 2018 after Ms. Christine Brown. But it is said that Dr. Gemma Smith will be leaving soon and a new headteacher will be taking her place. Wombourne High School is a part of the Invictus Education Trust, which includes the following schools: Ellowes Hall and College, Wombourne High School, Kinver High School, Crestwood High School, Leasowes High School, Pedmore High School, and Rufford Primary School. 76% of the school's GCSE students gained 5 or more A*–C grades in 2010.

A.F.C. Wulfrunians is a football club based in Castlecroft, Wolverhampton, England. They are currently members of the Midland League Premier Division and play at the Castlecroft Stadium.

Highfields School is a mixed secondary school and sixth form located in the Penn area of Wolverhampton, in the West Midlands of England. It was formed in 1957 and accommodates over 1,500 pupils. There is an environmental centre at the back of the school, which as well as lessons, holds many meetings and gatherings for astronomy or the council. The school was re-built as part of a BSF project and the previous building was demolished. Construction commenced in 2010 and the build was completed in 2012, with landscaping finished in 2013. Highfields remained unaffected by the government revamp of schools rebuilds. The school finished a week early for the six weeks holiday and staggered the pupils back into the new school, starting sixth form down to year 7. Upon moving into the new school the uniform was redesigned. With the move into the new establishment the school changed its title from 'Highfields Science Specialist School' to 'Highfields School'. Previously a community school administered by Wolverhampton City Council, in December 2015 Highfields School converted to academy status. However the school continues to coordinate with Wolverhampton City Council for admissions.

The Wom Brook is a stream in South Staffordshire, England. It flows through the large village of Wombourne, and has played an important part in its industrial history. It is an important tributary of the River Smestow and part of the Severn catchment.

Castlecroft is a suburb of Wolverhampton, West Midlands, located on the edge of the city, WSW of the city centre. It is situated where the Merry Hill, and Tettenhall Wightwick wards meet, and also borders South Staffordshire.

Wombourne is a village and civil parish located in the district of South Staffordshire, in the county of Staffordshire, England. It is 4 miles (6 km) south-west of Wolverhampton and just outside the county and conurbation of the West Midlands. Local services are run by a parish council. At the 2001 census it had a population of 13,691, increasing to 14,157 at the 2011 Census.

Trysull is a rural village in the county of Staffordshire, England approximately five miles south-west of Wolverhampton. With the adjacent village of Seisdon, it forms the civil parish of Trysull and Seisdon, within the South Staffordshire non-metropolitan district. Until 1974 it formed part of Seisdon Rural District. The 2011 census recorded a usually resident population for the parish of Trysull & Seisdon of 1,150 persons in 455 households.The village has not been greatly affected by over-modern development and still retains many of the old country cottages, houses and a manor house.

Merry Hill is a suburb of Wolverhampton, West Midlands and a ward of Wolverhampton City Council. It is situated in the south-west of the city, bordering South Staffordshire and the Tettenhall Wightwick, Park, Graiseley and Penn wards. It forms part of the Wolverhampton South West constituency. Merry Hill is itself is the main focal point of the ward, situated at the junction of five main roads. Because of the layout of the ward boundaries, parts of the suburbs of Bradmore, Castlecroft and Finchfield are covered by Merry Hill ward. The population of the ward taken at the 2011 census was 12,189.Highfields Secondary school, Uplands Junior school, St Michael's RC Primary school and Springdale Primary school are all situated within the ward. Merry Hill is served by National Express West Midlands service 4 which operates daily between Spring Hill and the i54 via the city centre.
