Sterling is an unincorporated community in Skagit County, in the U.S. state of Washington.

Sedro-Woolley is a city in Skagit County, Washington, United States. It is part of the Mount Vernon–Anacortes, Washington Metropolitan Statistical Area and had a population of 12,421 at the 2020 census. The city is home to North Cascades National Park.

Sedro-Woolley High School is a public high school in the city of Sedro-Woolley, Washington. The school enrolls about 1394 in grades 9-12. Its colors are blue and white and the school mascot is the bear cub. It is the primary high school for the Sedro-Woolley School District, with State Street High School being the alternative school.

The Skagit-Squatch Museum is a museum dedicated to Sasquatch and other cryptids in Burlington, Washington. It was founded c. 2010 by Mike Vail According to a Seattle television program, it contains "Bigfoot-themed artwork and a few mind-blowing artifacts". Cascadia Daily reported that it has over 700 items in its collection.

Skagit Valley College (SVC) is a public community college in Mount Vernon, Washington. It serves students in Skagit, Island, and San Juan counties in northwest Washington state. Established in 1926, SVC grants academic transfer pathways, professional/technical degrees, and certificates. The academic transfer degree and several professional/technical degrees can be completed online. SVC also offers Basic Education for Adults and Community Education courses. Courses are offered during Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters. The SVC district includes two campuses and three centers: the Mount Vernon Campus, SVC's main campus, is located in Mount Vernon, Washington, and the Whidbey Island Campus is located in Oak Harbor, Washington. The San Juan Center is located in Friday Harbor, and the Marine Technology Center in Anacortes, Washington. Also, SVC serves many military and their dependents at the college's Whidbey Island Campus. SVC offers three Bachelor of Applied Science Degrees: Environmental Conservation, Applied Management, and Healthcare Management.

Burlington-Edison High School (commonly abbreviated to B-EHS) is a public high school in Burlington, Washington. It serves students in grades 9–12 in the Burlington-Edison School District, including the communities of Burlington, Bow, Edison, and Alger. The current administration is made up of principal Jeffery Baines, and assistant principals James Campbell and Jeff Demorest. The mascot is the Tiger, and the school colors are blue and gold. In 1943, Burlington High School combined with Edison High school to form Burlington-Edison High School. The Edison High School mascot was the Sparkplugs and their colors were red and white. Burlington-Edison High School kept the Tiger mascot when the schools combined, as well as their blue and gold colors. Burlington-Edison's main rival is Mount Vernon High School.

On September 23, 2016, a mass shooting occurred at Cascade Mall in Burlington, Washington, U.S. Five people were killed in the incident. The gunman was identified as Arcan Cetin, a 20-year-old who emigrated from Turkey as a child with his family. He was arrested the following day in Oak Harbor, Washington, his hometown. On September 26, he confessed to committing the shooting. On April 16, 2017, Cetin committed suicide by hanging himself in his jail cell.

Cascade Mall was an enclosed shopping mall in Burlington, Washington, United States. Opened in November 1989, the mall's anchor stores are AMC Theatres and TJ Maxx. There are 4 vacant anchor stores that were once 2 Macy's stores, Sears, and JCPenney. Macerich owned the property before selling it to Merlone Geier Partners in January 2017. The mall permanently closed on June 30, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Some stores will be allowed to stay open if they provide essential services, including those on the outer perimeter.
