Bärenstein (Ore Mountains)

Bärenstein is a municipality in the district of Erzgebirgskreis, in Saxony, Germany.

Cranzahl Dam (German: Talsperre Cranzahl) is a dam in the Free State of Saxony in East Germany. It was built from 1949 to 1952 near Sehmatal–Cranzahl and the Bärenstein mountain in the Ore Mountains to supply drinking water to Annaberg-Buchholz and the surrounding area. Together with the Sosa Dam it was one of the two biggest dam construction projects of the newly created GDR. In keeping with the time it was called the Dam of Friendship (Talsperre der Freundschaft). The actual dam itself is a crooked earth-fill dam with a sloping inner seal of loam. It is a large dam based on ICOLD criteria. The streams impounded by it are the Lampertsbach and the Moritzbach. A trafficable track runs along the dam crest (500 metres). Bathing and water sports in the reservoir are not permitted. However, there is a circular path of 3.5 kilometres for walkers, mountain-bikers and skiers.

Vejprty (Czech pronunciation: [ˈvɛjpr̩tɪ]; German: Weipert) is a town in Chomutov District in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 2,800 inhabitants. It lies along the border with Germany. Until World War II, it was a large town.

Cranzahl station is a railway station in the municipality of Cranzahl, located in the Erzgebirgskreis district in Saxony, Germany.

Sehmatal is a municipality in the district of Erzgebirgskreis, in Saxony, Germany, which was created in 1999 through the union of Neudorf, Cranzahl and Sehma. The three villages are located along the Sehma river, aligned in a north-south direction. At the northern end is the former village of Sehma, in the middle the town of Cranzahl, to the south the village of Neudorf. The town borders to Annaberg-Buchholz in the north, in the east is Königswalde and Bärenstein, Oberwiesenthal is south and Crottendorf in the west. Nearby is the Bärenstein mountain with a height of 898 meters. The trains along Vejprty–Annaberg-Buchholz railway stop in Sehma and Cranzahl. The station in Cranzahl is also the starting point for the Fichtelberg Railway to Oberwiesenthal. Neudorf is the home town of Olympic gold medalist Viola Bauer. Sehmatal's sister city in the United States is Running Springs, California.

Königswalde is a municipality in the district of Erzgebirgskreis, in Saxony, Germany.

The Dorothea-Stolln, also known as Himmlisch Heer Fundgrube Dorothea, is a former underground mine in Cunersdorf near of Annaberg-Buchholz in Germany. Today, it is a visitor mine with a length of 53 km and a constant temperature of 8 °C. The Upper Saxon word Stolln means an adit, the German word Fundgrube was used to describe the pit that was the first to be awarded on a newly discovered field.

The Sehma is a right tributary of the river Zschopau in the German federal state of Saxony and begins at the confluence of its headstreams the White Sehma (Weiße Sehma) and Red Sehma (Rote Sehma). The White Sehma rises in the Ore Mountains on the Fichtelberg (1,214 m) and flows northwards, parallel to the Zschopau. Above Neudorf it merges with the Red Sehma coming from Kretscham-Rothensehma (a district of Sehmatal), which enters from the right and itself begins at the confluence of the Lampertsbach and Stümpelbach streams a few kilometres earlier.In the valley of the combined Sehma are the long, narrow villages of Neudorf, Cranzahl and Sehma which belong to the municipality of Sehmatal. The Sehma continues to the merged town of Annaberg-Buchholz where it divides Buchholz in the west from Annaberg in the east, the two quarters having been independent towns until 1945. The Sehma valley is also home to the village of Frohnau and its well-known hammer mill, the Frohnauer Hammer. Above Wiesa the Sehma discharges into the Zschopau.

Crottendorf is a municipality located in the district of Erzgebirgskreis, in Saxony, Germany.

The Ore Mountain Museum (German: Erzgebirgsmuseum) is a museum in Annaberg-Buchholz in the German state of Saxony and located in the Ore Mountains of Central Europe. Its display includes examples of Ore Mountain folk art, especially carvings, bobbin work and passements) and gives an insight into the history of the town of Annaberg and of silver mining in the region. The museum also owns a work from the workshop of Lucas Cranach the Younger from 1572 and a large collection of valuable pewter vessels. Adjoining the museum is the visitor mine of Im Gößner.

St. Anne's Church (German: St.-Annen-Kirche) in Annaberg-Buchholz, German Free State of Saxony, is a hall church whose architectural style is on the boundary between the Late Gothic and Saxon Renaissance. With a length of 65 metres (213 ft) and width of 40 metres (130 ft), it is the largest, true hall church of the Late Gothic in Saxony. Its tower is 78 metres (256 ft) high, the interior of the church 28 metres (92 ft) high. It is the emblem of the town and visible from a long way off. Saint Anne's was originally built in 1499 as a Roman Catholic church, but became Lutheran in 1539.
