The Ore Mountain Museum (German: Erzgebirgsmuseum) is a museum in Annaberg-Buchholz in the German state of Saxony and located in the Ore Mountains of Central Europe. Its display includes examples of Ore Mountain folk art, especially carvings, bobbin work and passements) and gives an insight into the history of the town of Annaberg and of silver mining in the region. The museum also owns a work from the workshop of Lucas Cranach the Younger from 1572 and a large collection of valuable pewter vessels. Adjoining the museum is the visitor mine of Im Gößner.

Annaberg-Buchholz (German pronunciation: [ˈanabɛɐ̯k ˈbuːx.hɔlts] ) is a town in Saxony, Germany. Lying in the Ore Mountains, it is the capital of the district of Erzgebirgskreis.

The Ore Mountains/Vogtland Nature Park (German: Naturpark Erzgebirge/Vogtland) extends across the upper slopes of the Vogtland and Ore Mountains in southeastern Germany along its international border with Czech Republic. It is the longest nature park in Germany with a total length of 120 km. Its management organisation is the Zweckverband Naturpark Erzgebirge/Vogtland. It includes the following conservation areas: 228 area natural monuments (FND) 15 protected landscapes (LSG) 41 nature reserves (NSG) 3 bird reserves

Annaberg is a former district in Saxony, Germany. It was bounded by (from the south and clockwise) the Czech Republic and the districts of Aue-Schwarzenberg, Stollberg and Mittlerer Erzgebirgskreis. Its colors are pink, green, and blue.

The Ore Mountains (German: Erzgebirge, Czech: Krušné hory) lie along the Czech–German border, separating the historical regions of Bohemia in the Czech Republic and Saxony in Germany. The highest peaks are the Klínovec in the Czech Republic (German: Keilberg) at 1,244 metres (4,081 ft) above sea level and the Fichtelberg in Germany at 1,215 metres (3,986 ft). The Ore Mountains have been intensively reshaped by human intervention and a diverse cultural landscape has developed. Mining in particular, with its tips, dams, ditches and sinkholes, directly shaped the landscape and the habitats of plants and animals in many places. The region was also the setting of the earliest stages of the early modern transformation of mining and metallurgy from a craft to a large-scale industry, a process that preceded and enabled the later Industrial Revolution. The higher altitudes from around 500 m above sea level on the German side belong to the Ore Mountains/Vogtland Nature Park – the largest of its kind in Germany with a length of 120 km. The eastern Ore Mountains are protected landscape. Other smaller areas on the German and Czech sides are protected as nature reserves and natural monuments. On the ridges there are also several larger raised bogs that are only fed by rainwater. The mountains are popular for hiking and there are winter sports areas at higher elevations. In 2019, the region became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Frohnauer Hammer is an historic hammer mill in Frohnau, a village in the municipality of Annaberg-Buchholz in the Ore Mountains of southeast Germany. The mill is an important witness to proto-industrial development in the Ore Mountains. Of the once-numerous hammer mills only three others remain working in Saxony: the Dorfchemnitz Iron Hammer Mill, the Grünthal Copper Hammer Mill and the Freibergsdorf Hammer Mill. In 1907 the Frohnauer Hammer Mill on the Sehma river became the first technical monument in Saxony. The museum complex includes the hammer mill itself, an exhibition of forged artefacts, a hand forge, a mechanical "Christmas hill" (Weihnachtsberg) and a bobbin lace room.

The Schreckenberg is a mountain near Frohnau in the county of Erzgebirgskreis in the central Ore Mountains of Germany. It is 648.8 m above sea level (NHN). It is located one kilometre northwest of the town of Annaberg-Buchholz in the borough of Frohnau.

Frohnau is a village in the Saxon town of Annaberg-Buchholz in the district of Erzgebirgskreis in southeast Germany. The discovery of silver on the Schreckenberg led in 1496 to the foundation of the neighbouring mining town of Annaberg. The village of Frohnau is best known for its museum of technology, the Frohnauer Hammer, and the visitor mine of Markus Röhling Stolln. The mining area around Frohnau has been selected as a candidate for a UNESCO World Heritage Site: the Ore Mountain Mining Region (Montanregion Erzgebirge).

The Dorothea-Stolln, also known as Himmlisch Heer Fundgrube Dorothea, is a former underground mine in Cunersdorf near of Annaberg-Buchholz in Germany. Today, it is a visitor mine with a length of 53 km and a constant temperature of 8 °C. The Upper Saxon word Stolln means an adit, the German word Fundgrube was used to describe the pit that was the first to be awarded on a newly discovered field.

The Central or Middle Ore Mountains (German: Mittlere Erzgebirge or Mittelerzgebirge) is a natural region that forms the central-western part of the Ore Mountains in the German federal state of Saxony. It is part of the overarching unit, the Saxon Highlands and Uplands. It forms the eastern part of the former major units, the Lower Western Ore Mountains (Unteres Westerzgebirge, 423) and Upper Western Ore Mountains (Oberes Westerzgebirge, 421) and is separated from the Eastern Ore Mountains in the east by the (included) valley of the Flöha, and from the Western Ore Mountains in the west by the (excluded) valley of the Schwarzwasser and, below its mouth, by the Zwickauer Mulde.The upper regions of the Central Ore Mountains are part of the Ore Mountains/Vogtland Nature Park.
