Nieuw Sloten

FC Blauw-Wit Amsterdam (English: Blue-White) was a Dutch football club from Amsterdam. The name referred to the colours of their uniform, blue and white.

Established in 1956, the Sportpark Sloten is a large sports complex located on the Riekerpolder at Sloterweg in Amsterdam - Sloten. Surrounding the stadium is an asphalt cycling circuit, 2,5 km in length.Stadia: The Velodrome Amsterdam, is one of only three covered Velodromes in the Netherlands, and played host to the annual Zesdaagse van Amsterdam (2001-2016) The gymnastics-hall Turnace.Several sport clubs are tenants of the complex, such as: FC Blauw-Wit (since 1965), ZRC/Herenmarkt (since 1967, resp. 1994), Beursbengels and Nieuw Sloten (since 2004 each), American football-club Amsterdam Crusaders The Golf course Sloten.

Slotervaartziekenhuis was a hospital in the Slotervaart neighbourhood of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. It went into administration in October 2018, and was closed within days.

Nieuwe Meer is a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer, and lies about 8 km southwest of Amsterdam. Nieuwe Meer has a population of around 410.Nieuwe Meer is originally the name of the adjacent small lake which lies within Amsterdam city borders.

Sloten (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈsloːtə(n)]; 52.342°N 4.797°E / 52.342; 4.797) is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Amsterdam, and lies about 6 km west of the city centre.Sloten became a separate municipality in 1816. Absorbed into Amsterdam in January 1921, Sloten (founded in the year 990) became the oldest part of Amsterdam (itself founded in 1254). Sloten is one of the few remnants of various places that have marks of Osdorp before the 1950s and Sloterdijk as well, Sloten was threatened by urbanisation on many occasions between the 1950s and the 1970s, as thousands of houses rose between the wide polderland of the Osdorp region. Sloten remained untouched by suburban growth until in the 1980s, when the Netherlands campaigned to host the 1992 Summer Olympics. Officials proposed that the area around Sloten will become an Olympic Village. When Barcelona was chosen to be the host, they changed plans and built to create Nieuw Sloten, which rose in the 1990s. During the 1928 Summer Olympics, Sloten hosted the rowing events. Now it is best known for the working windmill, transformed into the Rembrandt Sloten Windmill/Coopery Museum.

Amsterdam Nieuw-West is a borough (Dutch: stadsdeel) comprising the westernmost neighbourhoods of the city of Amsterdam, Netherlands. It was created in 2010 after a merger of the former boroughs Osdorp, Geuzenveld-Slotermeer and Slotervaart. In 2017, the borough had almost 150,000 inhabitants.Most of the residential neighborhoods of Amsterdam Nieuw-West were built after 1950 under an urban expansion plan, based on the garden city concept. Centrally located within the borough are the Sloterplas (literal translation: Lake Sloter) and Sloterpark (around the lake).

The Blue Mosque (Dutch: Blauwe Moskee) is a mosque and cultural center in Amsterdam Nieuw-West, the Netherlands. Construction of the mosque was financed by the government of Kuwait through the offices of Europe Trust Netherlands and began in 2008. The mosque is architecturally significant for both its blue color and the fact that the structure lacks traditional minarets and other symbols associated with Muslim places of worship.

Rowing at the 1928 Summer Olympics featured seven events, for men only. The competitions were held from 2 to 10 August.

Sloterpark is an urban park in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Located in the borough Amsterdam Nieuw-West, around the artificial lake Sloterplas.

Slotervaart (short for Tuinstad Slotervaart) is a neighborhood in the far western part of Amsterdam, Netherlands. The area is named after the canal Slotervaart; the first houses were built in 1955. Just outside the residential area there is a hospital, the Slotervaartziekenhuis (since 1976), and the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI) (since 1979).Since 1990 Slotervaart was a part of the urban district of Slotervaart-Overtoomse Veld, which was renamed in 2004 as shortly Slotervaart. In 2010 however this borough was merged with surrounding boroughs into the larger borough Amsterdam Nieuw-West.
