De Aker

The Dijkgraafplein is a square in Amsterdam-Osdorp in the Netherlands, lying at the end of Tussen Meer. The square is named after the office of dijkgraaf (the chairman of a water board) in 1962. The Dijkgraafplein lies in the neighborhood that is now known as 'De Punt' and where many streets are named after waterways. Since 1962 tram line 17 terminates on this square. From 1971 tram line 1 also began here. In 2001, line 1 began running via a new tram track to De Aker and line 17 was again extended to the Dijkgraafplein, just as between 1962 and 1971.

Osdorp (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɔzˌdɔr(ə)p]) is neighbourhood of Amsterdam, Netherlands. A larger area was, from 1981 until 2010, a stadsdeel (borough) of Amsterdam and in 2010 was merged into the new borough of Amsterdam Nieuw-West.

Badhoevedorp is a town in the municipality of Haarlemmermeer in the province of North Holland, Netherlands. It lies next to the Ringvaart around Haarlemmermeer, the canal around the former Lake Haarlem, at the side of the polder bordering Amsterdam and Amstelveen. Badhoevedorp has a population of around 11,370.Notable residents include Björn Ottenheim of the band zZz, former Dutch national team footballer Marco van Basten, Jack van Gelder, Tonny Eyk and Toon van Driel. The Rijksweg 9 passes next to the town, from 8 August 1967 to 10 April 2017, the motorway passed through the town, however it was diverted, with the original section being closed and demolished to make place for new development in the area.

Rowing at the 1928 Summer Olympics featured seven events, for men only. The competitions were held from 2 to 10 August.

Sloten (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈsloːtə(n)]; 52.342°N 4.797°E / 52.342; 4.797) is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Amsterdam, and lies about 6 km west of the city centre.Sloten became a separate municipality in 1816. Absorbed into Amsterdam in January 1921, Sloten (founded in the year 990) became the oldest part of Amsterdam (itself founded in 1254). Sloten is one of the few remnants of various places that have marks of Osdorp before the 1950s and Sloterdijk as well, Sloten was threatened by urbanisation on many occasions between the 1950s and the 1970s, as thousands of houses rose between the wide polderland of the Osdorp region. Sloten remained untouched by suburban growth until in the 1980s, when the Netherlands campaigned to host the 1992 Summer Olympics. Officials proposed that the area around Sloten will become an Olympic Village. When Barcelona was chosen to be the host, they changed plans and built to create Nieuw Sloten, which rose in the 1990s. During the 1928 Summer Olympics, Sloten hosted the rowing events. Now it is best known for the working windmill, transformed into the Rembrandt Sloten Windmill/Coopery Museum.

The National Rugby Centre Amsterdam, also known as NRCA Stadium, is a rugby stadium in Amsterdam. The complex is situated within the Sportpark de Eendracht in the district of Geuzenveld-Slotermeer. All international matches of the Netherlands national team are played at the NCRA, and the offices of the Netherlands Rugby Board (NRB) are at the complex.Plans for the National Rugby Centre Amsterdam (NRCA) were formed by the NRB in the eighties and nineties as the increasing interest in rugby grew so strong that the old offices in Bussum became impracticable. Candidates for a new national rugby center had included The Hague, Amersfoort and Amsterdam. After much deliberation and some lobbying, the location at Sportpark De Eendracht was finally selected. The complex was completed in 1997 and officially opened by the then Secretary of State for Sport Erica Terpstra.Besides the Dutch national team, the rugby clubs ASRV Ascrum and AAC play at the complex. The final of the top division of the Dutch national rugby championship is played at the stadium, as is the Amsterdam Sevens, a long-term and internationally renowned rugby sevens tournament. The Amsterdam Women's Sevens which is part of the World Rugby Women's Sevens Series is also played at the NRCA.
