Inverquharity is a Roman fortlet in Scotland, close to the Highland Line about 5 miles (8 km) north of Kirriemuir, Angus. Although very little archaeological work has taken place, it is assumed that Inverquharity forms part of the Roman occupation during the Flavian period; this would mean it was constructed sometime between 70 and 86 CE. It would thus form part of the series of Strathmore forts, which include Inchtuthil, Cargill I and II, Cardean and Stracathro. Inverquharity is, with Cargill II, one of the smaller installations. Its position close to the Highland line and in a mouth of a small valley, justifies its inclusion amongst the Glenblocker forts. Aerial photography and geophysical study have shown Inverquharity to have two ditches, of which at least one has been eroded or the sand cliff on which it is situated. Nothing is known about its internal structures.

Inverquharity Castle is a 15th-century tower house in Angus, Scotland. It lies around 4.5 kilometres (2.8 mi) north-east of Kirriemuir near the River South Esk. The lands of Inverquharity came to the Ogilvie family around 1420. The castle was first constructed as a rectangular tower in the 1440s, by Alexander Ogilvie, 2nd Lord Inverquharity. In the 16th century a wing was added to form a four-storey L-plan castle. In 1445 a dispute between Alexander Ogilvy of Inverquharity and the son of the Earl of Crawford from nearby Finavon Castle culminated in the Battle of Arbroath in which Ogilvy and the Earl were killed.In the late 18th century, the tower was sold by the 5th Ogilvy Baronet, and the wing demolished. The castle decayed until the 1960s, when it was restored and the wing rebuilt. The original 15th-century yett, or iron gate, is still in place. In 2014, a BBC documentary followed the sale of the castle from the owners who had restored and lived there for the previous 40 years. It sold in 2012 for £611,000 and this category A listed building remains a private family home.

Cortachy Castle is a castellated mansion House at Cortachy, Angus, Scotland, some four miles north of Kirriemuir. The present building dates from the 15th century, preceded by an earlier structure that was owned by the Earls of Strathearn. It was acquired by the Ogilvies in 1473 and substantively modified in the 17th and 19th centuries. The 1696 remodelling was done by Tobias Bauchop of Alloa.In 1820 it was "romanticised", as was the fashion of the day, by the addition of crenellations, plus other alterations by R & R Dickson. Part of the building was damaged by fire in 1883 and it was extensively rebuilt in the following two years by Kinnear & Peddie.Cortachy Castle is a Category B listed building and the grounds are included in the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland.The castle is said to be haunted by the spirit of a drummer.

Angus (Scots: Angus; Scottish Gaelic: Aonghas) is one of the 32 local government council areas of Scotland, a registration county and a lieutenancy area. The council area borders Aberdeenshire, Dundee City and Perth and Kinross. Main industries include agriculture and fishing. Global pharmaceuticals company GSK has a significant presence in Montrose in the east of the county. Angus was historically a province, and later a sheriffdom and county (known officially as Forfarshire from the 18th century until 1928), bordering Kincardineshire to the north-east, Aberdeenshire to the north and Perthshire to the west; southwards it faced Fife across the Firth of Tay; these remain the borders of Angus, minus Dundee which now forms its own small separate council area. Angus remains a registration county and a lieutenancy area. In 1975 some of its administrative functions were transferred to the council district of the Tayside Region, and in 1995 further reform resulted in the establishment of the unitary Angus Council.

Battledykes is a Roman camp slightly to the north of Forfar, Scotland. According to Hector Boece, Pictish chiefs met at a castle by Forfar Loch to plan how to repel the Roman armies, who invaded several times between the 1st and 4th centuries AD. Eventually, the better equipped Romans prevailed, later to be displaced again by the Picts. The Romans established a Roman Camp at Battledykes, approximately three miles north of Forfar; this camp was assessed to have held 50,000 to 60,000 men. From Battledykes northward the Romans established a succession of camps including Stracathro, Raedykes and Normandykes.

Noranside is a hamlet in Angus, Scotland, located at 56° 44' 0" North, 2° 52' 0" West,. The prison HMP Noranside was operated there from 1966 to 2011.

Auchnacree is an estate in Angus, Scotland, five miles north of Forfar.In 1921 the estate overseer, Mr Frank Rae, discovered what is now called the Auchnacree Hoard. This comprised two knives, three axeheads and an armlet, all in bronze, which are dated to the early Bronze Age. Some of the objects appear to have been deliberately broken which suggests a ritual deposit rather than a lost cache.

Angus is a county constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom (at Westminster). It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first-past-the-post voting system. It is currently represented by Dave Doogan of the Scottish National Party who has been the MP since 2019. It was created for the 1997 general election, largely replacing East Angus. As a result of boundary changes for the 2005 general election, the boundaries became quite different from those of the Angus Scottish Parliament constituency, which was created in 1999 and abolished in 2011. The constituency is dominated by farmland, and includes the towns of Arbroath, Montrose, Brechin and Forfar. Further to the completion of the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, the seat will be subject to boundary changes which will entail expansion into northern parts of the Perth and Kinross council, partly offset by the loss of Arbroath and surrounding areas. As a consequence, it will be renamed Angus and Perthshire Glens, to be first contested at the next general election.
