Flemington railway station is located on the Main Suburban line, serving the Sydney suburb of Homebush West and the markets of Flemington. It is served by Sydney Trains T2 Inner West & Leppington line services.

Flemington is an urban place, officially designated as a locality within the suburb of Homebush West in the Inner West of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Flemington is located 16 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the Municipality of Strathfield. The locality of Flemington has its own postcode (2129), separate from the remainder of Homebush West. It is entirely occupied by the Sydney Markets complex and its supporting infrastructure and has no residential population. "Flemington" was formerly the name of the whole suburb, and even today Homebush West as a whole is commonly referred to as "Flemington", even in official contexts.

Homebush Boys High School, founded in 1936, is a public high school for boys. It is in Homebush, in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Formerly a selective high school, in 2006 Homebush Boys was regarded as one of the academically best-performing comprehensive schools, and has, in the past, been ranked above selective schools on the Higher School Certificate results.The school has an enrolment of approximately 1208 students.

The Sydney Markets are located in the Inner West locality of Flemington, New South Wales, 16 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district. The market is the primary distribution hub of fresh produce, flowers and other food products for Sydney. The market has a wholesale sales section that caters to larger businesses and general sales to the public. The market is the central marketplace for Sydney's farmers to sell their products. It has a history dating back to 1788. The operator of the markets is Sydney Markets Limited, formerly the Sydney Markets Authority, but privatised in 1997. As well as the markets at Flemington, Sydney Markets Limited also operates the inner city Paddy's Market in Haymarket. Sydney Markets feature a number of divisions including Produce, Flowers, Growers, Fresh Food, Motor, Swap & Sell, Paddy's Markets and Sydney Markets Plaza.Paddy's Markets specialises in the sale of fruit, vegetables, fish, clothes, giftware and souvenirs to the general public. The Flower Market is the central provider of flowers to Sydney's florists. The Produce, Growers and Fresh Food Markets are the central provider to Sydney's grocery shops. The Swap & Sell market is a second hand market, where vendors set up a sales stand selling a range of second-hand goods. The Motor Market provides a site for private sellers to show their cars for sale. Sydney Markets Plaza features a supermarket, hotel, post office and many specialty shops below an office building. Sydney Markets (Flemington) has its own postcode, 2129, separate from the 2140 postcode used for the remainder of Homebush West.

St Patrick's College (known colloquially as SPC or St Pats) is an independent Catholic primary and secondary day school for boys located in Strathfield, an inner western suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Founded in 1928 by the Congregation of Christian Brothers, the school operates in the tradition of Edmund Rice, founder of the Christian Brothers, and is administered by Edmund Rice Education Australia. As of 2007, the College enrolled approximately 1,430 students from Year 5 to Year 12.St Patrick's College is a member of the Independent Sporting Association, the Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia, and the Junior School Heads Association of Australia.

Mount St Mary Campus of the Australian Catholic University is a major campus of the Australian Catholic University, located in Strathfield, Municipality of Strathfield, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The main building of the campus, formerly the Mount Royal villa and now called the Edmund Rice Building and Barron Chapel, is a heritage-listed former mansion, and was later used as a college and primary school. Located at 25A Barker Road in Strathfield, it was designed by H.C. Kent, Sheerin & Hennessy and Hennessy Hennessy & Co and built in 1887 (with renovations in 1962 to adapt it to university use). It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 15 April 2016.The campus is owned by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney.

The Seminary of the Good Shepherd is the seminary of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney, and a number of dioceses from the province of New South Wales and beyond, including the Diocese of Broken Bay, Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn, Diocese of Wollongong, Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle and Diocese of Bathurst. The seminary is principally administered by the Archdiocese of Sydney.

Strathfield Girls High School is a single-sex comprehensive high school located in the municipality of Strathfield in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, along with its brother school, Homebush Boys High School.

Cemetery Station No. 4 was a railway station on Sydney's Rookwood Cemetery railway line. It served the Rookwood Cemetery.

The Flemington Maintenance Depot is the largest Sydney Trains depot, located in the western Sydney suburb of Lidcombe, but named after Flemington further east. The depot opened in 1927 and was one of four electric train depots built under the Bradfield electrification plan, the other depots being at Mortdale, Hornsby and Punchbowl. The depot features 20 storage roads, 10 of which are under the main shed, a lift shop, wheel lathe and a train washing facility. The depot has rail connections to all tracks of the Main Suburban Line, as well as the Sydney Freight Network. Road access for deliveries is off Bachell Avenue, Lidcombe. A staff-only stuttle bus, operated by CDC, operates between the depot and Lidcombe station. The depot maintains the K sets and NSW TrainLink's V sets. It was also responsible for the S sets and C sets before they were withdrawn. Sets maintained by Flemington carry a blue target plate. A variety of other trains are also stabled here, as it is a crew depot and stabling location for Sector 2 (T2/3/5/7 lines) services. NSW TrainLink Endeavours and XPTs occasionally visit to use the wheel lathe. Until May 1968, it was responsible for maintaining the long-distance HUB, RUB and stainless steel carriages. Until March 1971, it also maintained the DEB sets. All were transferred to ACDEP.

Pippita railway station was a railway station on the former Abattoirs line in Sydney, New South Wales. The station opened on 4 October 1940 and closed on 20 October 1995. The Olympic Park line, which extends over the former Abattoirs branch, connects to the network on the Main South line at the site of the former station.Passenger services on the Abattoirs line were operated by CPH railmotors operating from Sandown via Lidcombe until November 1984. After this, Pippita (now as the terminus) was served by single-deck suburban electric trains known as "Red Rattlers". Pippita continued to be served by a sole daily service to Central until 20 October 1995, operated in its later days by a V set.Pippita station served the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation factory located in Lidcombe. Access the site of the former station was restricted following the Auburn Council sale of Pippita Street to Dairy Farmers. Since 2015, community groups such as the Sydney Alliance, EcoTransit Sydney, and Restore Inner West Line proposed the reconstruction of Pippita station as part of a new express service between Lidcombe and Central.

The Sydney International (formerly known as the Championship of New South Wales and New South Wales Open, with various title sponsors), formerly sponsored as the Apia International Sydney from 2012 to 2017, is a professional tennis tournament in Sydney, Australia. The tournament was played annually at the Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre in Sydney Olympic Park. It is one of the oldest tennis tournaments in the world, dating to 1885. The tournament did not take place 2020 and 2021 due to the ATP Cup tournament, and again in 2023 due to the United Cup. The Sydney International is the last noted as an ATP 250 point event on the men's tour and a WTA 500 event on the women's tour. The tournament is held annually in January immediately prior to the Australian Open as a lead up tournament as part of the Australian Open Series.
