The trustees officially changed the name of the Wheaton Female Seminary to Wheaton College in 1912 after receiving a college charter from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The venue opened during the summer of 1986 with a capacity of 12,000. It was expanded after 2000 to 19,900; 7,000 reserved seats, 7,000 lawn seats and 5,900 general admission seats. The season for the venue is typically from mid May until late September. In 2010, it was named Top Grossing Amphitheater by Billboard. The Dell Technologies Championship, originally the Deutsche Bank Championship, was a professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour that was played annually from 2003 to 2018. It was held in Norton, Massachusetts, United States, over the Labor Day weekend in late summer. In 2007, the PGA Tour introduced the FedEx Cup and the Deutsche Bank Championship became one of four playoff events. The 2018 edition was the last time the event was staged as the FedEx Cup playoffs were reduced to three events the following season.

The Rumford River, 23.1 kilometres (14.4 mi) long, begins within the town of Foxborough and flows south through Mansfield to the Norton Reservoir, within the town of Norton, then continues to its confluence with the Wading River to form the Threemile River.

The FM Championship is a women's professional golf tournament in Massachusetts on the LPGA Tour. A new event in 2024, it is played at TPC Boston in Norton near Boston. Ryu Hae-ran of South Korea won the inaugural tournament in a playoff against Ko Jin-young with a par on the first extra hole.
