Lakewood Township is a township in Saint Louis County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,252 in 2018 as estimated by the Minnesota State Demographic Center.Jean Duluth Road, West Tischer Road, North Tischer Road, Lakewood Road, and Strand Road are five of the main routes in the township. Lakewood Township was named for its groves.

North Shore is a neighborhood in Duluth, Minnesota, United States. North Shore Scenic Drive (Congdon Boulevard) serves as a main route in the community, and is a gateway to the North Shore of Lake Superior. The North Shore neighborhood is situated between 67th Avenue East and 96th Avenue East. The neighborhood stretches from Brighton Beach (Kitchi Gammi) to McQuade Road, following both Congdon Boulevard (County 61 / Scenic 61) and the Minnesota 61 Expressway (MN 61).

The Talmadge River is a 6.0-mile-long (9.7 km) river in southern St. Louis County, Minnesota. It flows through Lakewood Township into Lake Superior, just north of the city of Duluth. Talmadge River is named after Josiah Talmadge, a pioneer who settled near the river in 1856.

Lester Park Golf Course is one of two public golf courses located in the port city of Duluth, Minnesota. The original eighteen-hole golf course was made up the north shore of Duluth, near the Lester Park River. The golf course was established in 1934. The other course, Enger Park, is located near the Duluth landmark, Enger Tower, and was established earlier than Lester in the 1920s. Lester Park is well known around Minnesota for its spectacular beauty and rich history as a golf course because a unique view of Lake Superior is available on 20 of the 27 golf holes. The original 18 holes have been redone four times since their initial design. In 1997, Paul Schintz, a former club pro from St. Paul, took over Lester Park as PGA Golf Professional. In 2003, Schintz became the Director of Golf, overseeing both Lester Park and Enger Park clubhouse operations. The golf courses were split to a 2 golf pro / 2 contract setup in 2005 with the addition of Steve Anderson to Enger Park Golf Course, with Schintz remaining at Lester Park. In 2007, the Duluth city council voted to accept a contract with Professional Golf Management, Inc. The Management company consisted of partners Schintz, as PGA Golf Professional and Jud Crist, Golf Course Superintendent. The management company now operates both facilities for the City of Duluth, overseeing clubhouse and maintenance operations. Management Inc. Lester Park's front and back nines are a full par 72 golf course and has a yardage of 6,828 yards from the hardest tees.

French River is an unincorporated community in Duluth Township, Saint Louis County, Minnesota, United States; located on the North Shore of Lake Superior. The community is located 13 miles northeast of the city of Duluth, at the junction of North Shore Scenic Drive (County 61) and Ryan Road (County Road 50).

The French River is a 13-mile-long (21 km) river in Saint Louis County, Minnesota, United States, flowing into Lake Superior at the unincorporated community of French River in Duluth Township. The river also flows through Normanna and Lakewood townships.

The North Shore State Trail is a multi-use recreational trail in the Arrowhead Region of Minnesota, United States. The 146-mile (235 km) unpaved trail passes through the largely undeveloped backcountry inland from the North Shore of Lake Superior, between the cities of Duluth and Grand Marais. It serves primarily as a winter snowmobile route, though the 70 miles (110 km) from the community of Finland to Grand Marais are suitable for hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking in summer. In contrast, the southwestern half of the trail is interrupted by many areas of wetness or standing water. The North Shore State Trail was established by an act of the Minnesota Legislature in 1975.

The Lester River Bridge (Bridge 5772) is a historic road bridge carrying Minnesota State Highway 61 (London Road) over the Lester River in Duluth, Minnesota, United States. Structurally it is a reinforced concrete arch bridge with decorative stone facing. It was built from 1924 to 1925. In 2002 the bridge was listed as Lester River Bridge–Bridge No. 5772 on the National Register of Historic Places for its state-level significance in the themes of architecture, engineering, and transportation. It was nominated for its Neoclassical architecture, impressive 103.5-foot (31.5 m) span, and association with the opening of the highway along the scenic North Shore of Lake Superior.

The Lester River, is a 19.3-mile-long (31.1 km) tributary of Lake Superior, in northeastern Minnesota in the United States. It drains an area of 58 square miles (150 km2).

The Lester River Fish Hatchery was a federal fish hatchery in Duluth, Minnesota, United States. It was built at the mouth of the Lester River in the 1880s to propagate fish for the Lake Superior commercial fishery. The hatchery closed in 1946 and the facility was sold to the University of Minnesota Duluth, which used it as its Limnological Research Station. The surviving four buildings are noted for their Stick and Shingle Style architecture, forming a distinctive landmark to local residents as well as tourists heading to Superior's North Shore.In 1978 the hatchery complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places under the name US Fisheries Station, Duluth, for its state-level significance in the themes of architecture and education. It was nominated for exemplifying the Stick and Shingle styles popular in Minnesota during the 1880s and for its long association with studies conducted on Lake Superior.

Lakeside – Lester Park is a neighborhood in Duluth, Minnesota, United States. London Road (MN 61), East Superior Street, and Glenwood Street serve as main routes in the community. Lester Park also refers to a large park within the neighborhood. The Lester River and Amity Creek both flow through the neighborhood. Lester Park Golf Course and Lester Park Elementary School are also located in the neighborhood. Until 2016 Lakeside was a "dry neighborhood". No alcohol was sold in store or available for purchase and restaurants. There were no laws against residents consuming alcohol in their own home or at private events. The ban was ended by popular vote in 2016.
