Yamuna Bank metro station

The Free School Under the Bridge is a private school in Delhi, India. It provides free-of-cost tuition to underprivileged children. Almost all the students come from the slums situated adjacent to the Yamuna river and are enrolled in nearby government-run schools. Started in 2006 by grocery shop owner Rajesh Kumar Sharma with just two children, the school now has a strength of more than 300 students. Seven teachers volunteering in their free time help these students to better understand their school curriculum. The school is run in two shifts with a morning shift for boys and an afternoon shift for girls. It has no permanent building and its makeshift campus is situated under a Delhi Metro bridge with pillars serving as its boundary marker and blackboards painted on a wall of Yamuna Bank Metro Depot. It receives no help from either the government or any non-governmental organisation.

The Mumbai alcohol poisonings occurred in June 2015, when at least 102 people died after drinking contaminated alcohol in the Laxmi Nagar slum in Malad, located in Mumbai, India. Another 45 people were hospitalised as a result of the incident. The incident has been described as the worst of its kind in over a decade.

Pandav Nagar is a residential colony in East Delhi, India. The back side of the colony is across the road from the famous Akshardham Temple. The majority of the people are Hindus,Sikhs. Languages spoken are Hindi and Punjabi.

The Laxmi Nagar metro station is located on the Blue Line of the Delhi Metro and it was set open for public use on 6 January 2010.Earlier there was no parking facility near the station but now there is an authorized parking available nearby the station. It is one of the busiest stations of metro network as Laxmi Nagar itself is a home for numerous workers and students. Public amenities include a Sulabh complex while two others are being set up at road level on either sides. There is a Buddy's and a Hot'n' Chill outlet at the station that sells fast food, snacks and cold drinks. There are also two ATMs, one of Punjab National Bank(Located near ticket counter at concourse level) and other of HDFC bank (located at exit of concourse level) Counter no. 5 of the station was used additionally for sale of smart cards, it's also the main customer care of the station. But as the rush got heavier, one more counter for sale of smart card was set up at the exit gate (Opposite counter no. 5). The nearby locality of station has many coaching centre and book shops and is a hub for job aspirants. Moreover, there are a number of restaurants and few hotels nearby. Numerous retailers of electronic appliances and mobile phones are located within the radius of 1 km of the station.

The Akshardham metro station is a Delhi Metro station on Blue line operated by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited. The station lies between Pandav Nagar on one side and the Akshardham Mandir and the Commonwealth Games Village on the other side. It was designed to be a complement of the Akshardham Mandir located nearby. When it was completed on 12 November 2009, the station was the tallest metro station within the Delhi Metro system (the record is currently held by the Mayur Vihar-I metro station on the Pink Line). The station serves commuters travelling to the mandir and provided transport for the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Laxmi Nagar, is the central location and focal point for east Delhi area. Earlier, it was one of the most inhabited cities, known as Trans Yam una (Laksmi Nagar). It has become a popular shopping area for garments, and day to day staple items. Akshardham temple is around 3 km from Laxmi Nagar. Laxmi Nagar is popularly known for being the central location for the majority of Coaching centers associated with the Chartered Accountancy Course offered by Institute of Chartered Accountants of India , Cost and Management Accountant ( Institute of Cost Accountant of India) and also for the Company Secretary course offered by Institute of Company Secretaries of India. Abhay Verma from BJP is the current MLA (Member Of Legislative Assembly) from Laxmi Nagar.

The ITO barrage, also Indraprastha barrage and ITO Bridge, is a 552 meter barrage on Yamuna River, top of which also serves as the bridge on the Paharganj-Gaziabad Vikas marg. Yamuna flows for 48 km in Delhi, including 22 km from Wazirabad barrage where it enters Delhi to Okhla barrage after which it enters Haryana. Upstream barrage from ITO barrage in Delhi is Wazirabad barrage (north) and downstream is Okhla barrage (south). Yamuna has a total of 6 barrages, from north-west to south-east, Dakpathar Barrage (Uttarakhand), Hathni Kund Barrage (172km from Yamunotri origin, replaced the older defunct Tajewala Barrage in Haryana), Wazirabad barrage (244km from Hathnikund to north Delhi), ITO barrage (central Delhi), Okhla barrage (22km from Wazirabad to south Delhi, "New Okhla barrage" is later-era new barrage) and Mathura barrage (at Gokul, Uttar Pradesh).It is under the management of the Haryana Government, whereas Wazirabad barrage is managed by Delhi and Okhla barrage is managed by UP Government.

The 2010 Commonwealth Games Village was the athletes' residence for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi. The village is spread over an area of 63.5 hectares (157 acres).

Swaminarayan Akshardham is a Hindu temple, and spiritual-cultural campus in Delhi, India. The temple is close to the border with Noida. Also referred to as Akshardham Temple or Akshardham Delhi, the complex displays millennia of traditional and modern Hindu culture, spirituality, and architecture. Inspired by Yogiji Maharaj and created by Pramukh Swami Maharaj, it was constructed by BAPS.The temple was officially opened on 6 November 2005 by Pramukh Swami Maharaj in the presence of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, Manmohan Singh, L.K Advani and B.L Joshi. The temple, at the centre of the complex, was built according to the Vastu shastra and Pancharatra shastra. In Swaminarayan Akshardham, similar to its predecessor Swaminarayan Akshardham in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, the main shrine is the focal point and maintains the central position of the entire complex. There are various exhibition halls which provide information about the life and work of Swaminarayan. The designers of the complex have adopted contemporary modes of communication and technology to create the various exhibition halls.The complex features an abhishek mandap, Sahaj Anand water show, a thematic garden, and three exhibitions namely Sahajanand Darshan (Hall of Values), Neelkanth Darshan (an IMAX film on the early life of Swaminarayan as the teenage yogi, Neelkanth), and Sanskruti Darshan (cultural boat ride). According to Swaminarayan Hinduism, the word Akshardham means the abode of Swaminarayan and believed by followers as a temporal home of God on earth.

Laxmi Nagar Assembly constituency is one of the seventy Delhi assembly constituencies of Delhi in northern India. Laxmi Nagar assembly constituency is a part of East Delhi (Lok Sabha constituency). This constituency was created by reorganization by delimitation commission in 2008.

IPGCL Gas Turbine Power Station was a defunct power plant that was located at Delhi. The power plant was one of the gas based power plants of IPGCL. Source of water for the power plant was the Yamuna River.

The Indraprastha metro station is located on the Blue Line of the Delhi Metro.
