Hummelsberg (Swabian Jura)

Kehlen is a mountain in the Swabian Jura near Gosheim in the county of Tuttlingen. It belongs to the Region of the 10 Thousanders. Its summit lies directly on the Albtrauf and offers a view of the plain and the Black Forest. It is 1,001 metres high.

The word beginning Heu is German for hay, which was the major income source for the inhabitants in recent times and is until today formative for the landscape of the Heuberg. The word ending berg means mountain.

The ruins on its top derive from the year 1449, when Oberhohenberg Castle together with the town of Hohenberg, at the foot of the mountain, were destroyed in a local feud.
