Holbeck railway station was a railway station that served the district of Holbeck, in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England.

This is a list of halls of residence both on and off campus at the University of Leeds in Leeds, England. The list is split to show halls providing catered and self–catered accommodation and includes a section on halls that are no longer used as University of Leeds residences. Most sites provide general student accommodation but where all, or the majority of residents, are post-graduate or international students this is highlighted. Similarly, where residences include or are adjacent to particular facilities, e.g. music, sports, stores, food outlets, or entertainment venues, this may be mentioned. The distance between the residence and the campus and to the city centre are included where pertinent.

The Viaduct Urban Garden is an elevated park and garden in Leeds, United Kingdom. The park was completed in 2023, after it was converted from a disused railway viaduct.

Park Lane College Leeds was the largest further education college in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, and provided further, higher and adult education to over 45,000 students. It operated out of over 40 sites across Leeds. On 1 April 2009 Park Lane College merged with Leeds Thomas Danby and the Leeds College of Technology to form the new Leeds City College. The three main Park Lane sites are now known as the Park Lane Campus, Horsforth Campus and Keighley Campus of the new college.

Hanover Square is a large Georgian public square and gardens in Leeds, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom.It is situated near to the Leeds General Infirmary, the University of Leeds and Burley Road.Numbers 11, 37, 38, 39 and 40 are Grade II listed buildings, and Denison Hall, also located on the square, is Grade II* listed.

Leeds City College is the largest further education establishment in the City of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England with around 26,000 students, 2,300 staff, with an annual turnover of £78 million. It officially opened on 1 April 2009. The College was granted official status in January 2009 and was formed from three large colleges, Park Lane College, Leeds Thomas Danby College and Leeds College of Technology.On 1 August 2011 the college expanded further with the merger of the three sites of Joseph Priestley College in Rothwell, Beeston and Morley. On the same day it also became the owner of a newly re-constituted Leeds College of Music (now Leeds Conservatoire), which operates with a level of independence as a wholly owned company of the Leeds City College Group. The College offers a wide range of qualifications including A Levels, BTECs and other vocational qualifications. It offers industry standard qualifications in sectors such as Health and Social Care, Food and Catering and Hair and Beauty, amongst others. In early 2019 the overarching body, Leeds City College Group, was renamed to Luminate Education Group to better reflect its increasing portfolio of institutions with Leeds City College becoming one of the members along with Leeds College of Music, Keighley College and the White Rose Academies. On 1 August 2019 Harrogate College transferred from Hull College Group to Luminate Education Group.

Brick Man was an Antony Gormley sculpture proposed in the 1980s for the city of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. A male human figure standing over 100 feet (30 m) high, it would have stood on a triangle of land bounded by railway lines in the Holbeck area of the city, greeting travellers arriving at Leeds railway station. It would have cost £600,000 and been the largest sculpture in the UK at the time. The sculpture was one of twenty designs produced in response to a competition to find an artwork for the site, but the proposal was ultimately rejected by Leeds City Council in 1988. Conservative councillor Richard Hughes-Rowlands said at the time: "If Mr Gormley is talking about it [Brick Man] going somewhere else, my eyes won't exactly be weeping tears."Gormley has blamed "lack of nerve" for the rejection of his idea, adding: "I think of it still as my best attempt to allude to the collective body." The idea of an iconic landmark sculpture of the human form later saw the light of day in Gormley's Angel of the North.A maquette for the sculpture can be seen in Leeds City Art Gallery.

The Holbeck Viaduct Project is a community project that proposes bringing the Holbeck Viaduct in Leeds, England back into public use. The project is supported by a community group of the same name.The Holbeck Viaduct (also known as the Farnley Viaduct) spans 92 archways and 1.1 miles (1.7 km). It runs from Leeds railway station, via Holbeck Urban Village and Old Holbeck, passes near Elland Road Stadium and ends onto wasteland in Wortley.The viaduct was built in 1882 for the London and North Western Railway during the Industrial Revolution. It has been described as a feat of Victorian engineering, and provided a vital transport link into the booming city centre, which by the turn of the 20th century had developed into an important centre for the production of woollen cloth (See History of Leeds). The viaduct largely fell out of use in the 1960s following Leeds City Station modernisation, and the last scheduled train to pass over the viaduct did so on 11 October 1987.A number of uses for the viaduct have been suggested, including a community garden, green walkway, arts space, park, cycle path, events hub, public allotment, café, music venue, viewing platform, local landmark or other community-focused project. The Holbeck Viaduct Project community group envisages that the viaduct will open in 2023. The proposed timeline for the development is: 2016–2017: Pre-feasibility scoping report 2017–2018: Detailed feasibility and stakeholder engagement 2018–2020: Fundraising and securing land and planning 2021–2023: Constructing, planting and opening.The project is happening at the same time as the South Bank Leeds regeneration, which has the aim of doubling the size of Leeds city centre.The community group supporting the project seeks to develop the project in a highly participatory manner, drawing on the time, skills and resources of a wide range of people and organisations. The group has a website and mailing list, and is represented on Twitter and Facebook. The group is seeking new volunteers and supporters to support their community-based proposals, including detailed feasibility study to underpin future fundraising. The project has previously been referred to as the Holbeck High Line, echoing the High Line in New York. However, the name Holbeck Viaduct Project reflects a wider range of options and a desire to create an affordable project which truly reflects Leeds and its local communities. The Holbeck Viaduct Project is not to be confused with the nearby Monk Bridge Viaduct development, in nearby Whitehall Road, which will see a separate viaduct turned into a sky park, alongside bars, restaurants and apartments.

Capital Yorkshire is a regional radio station owned by Global as part of the Capital network. It broadcasts to South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, the East Riding of Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire from studios in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The licence held makes Capital Yorkshire the largest regional British radio station outside London.

The Leeds International Pool often referred to as the Leeds International Baths, was a swimming facility in Leeds city centre, West Yorkshire, England. The pool was situated at the lower end of Westgate and was notable for its brutalist architecture. The pool was constructed in the 1960s and designed by architect John Poulson.The facility closed in October 2007 and was jointly replaced by the Aquatics Centre at the John Charles Centre for Sport (former South Leeds Stadium) in the south of the city and partly by 'The Edge' sports centre at the University of Leeds which has periods open to non-university members. The building stood unused until late 2009, when demolition commenced. In the interim it was subject to vandalism.

Leeds Clergy School was a theological college of the Church of England which was founded in 1876 and closed in 1925. It was established by the Rev. John Gott, Vicar of Leeds and later Bishop of Truro, with the first principal being E C S Gibson, Lecturer at Leeds Parish Church. The school started with just six students, initially catering for those graduates who were aiming to obtain town curacies. It soon grew rapidly up to a maximum of twenty-four. The students lived initially at Clarendon House, although they moved later to Woodsley House on Clarendon Road, overlooking the city, where the new Fowler Memorial Chapel was added and dedicated on 28 June 1896. This chapel commemorated a former principal. The governors very reluctantly decided to close the school in 1925, after its existing principal accepted a new academic appointment at Reading.The former buildings, now known as Fairbairn House, eventually passed to the University of Leeds and after previous use as hall of residence have since become a conference centre. They have also been used as a YMCA hostel. A few of the college archives are now held by the Thoresby Society in Leeds.

Leeds Central railway station was a terminus railway station in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It was opened in 1854 as a joint station between the London and North Western Railway, the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway, the Great Northern Railway and the North Eastern Railway. It replaced the cramped LNW terminus at Wellington Street, which had opened in 1848 with the line to Dewsbury. It closed in 1967, when its services were moved to Leeds City to consolidate all of Leeds train services in one station. The station was not architecturally distinguished and was built above street level. After closure, part of the station site became a Royal Mail sorting office, later partially redeveloped as the West Point residential development; the remaining half of the former sorting office site was to have been used for Lumiere, a 170-metre (560 ft) high skyscraper, but eventually became the site of the Central Square office development. A goods lift and a viaduct that approached the station remain extant. The last train left from Leeds Central on 29 April 1967. This was a Saturday and as there was no Sunday service, the station closed on 1 May 1967. The last train was an early evening service to Harrogate filled by the usual Birmingham RC&W DMU. Detonators were placed on the track by railway staff which exploded as the train rolled away from the platform and past the signal box on its final departure.
