Restronguet Passage

Restronguet Creek is a tidal ria in south Cornwall, United Kingdom. It is a tributary of Carrick Roads, the estuary of the River Fal, and is situated approximately four miles (6.5 km) south of Truro and three miles (5 km) north of Falmouth. The creek is approximately two miles (3 km) long from its Normal Tidal Limit (NTL) to its mouth and half-a-mile (800 metres) across at its widest point. It discharges into Carrick Roads at Restronguet Point through a narrow channel known locally as 'the gut'.Restronguet Creek forms the boundary between the civil parishes of Feock (on the north bank), Mylor (at the eastern end of the south bank), and Perranarworthal (at the western end of the south bank).At its upstream end, Restronguet Creek is fed by two freshwater rivers: the Carnon River from the northwest and the River Kennall from the southwest. The NTL on the Carnon River is immediately upstream of Devoran where the A39 trunk road crosses the river; the NTL on the River Kennall is at Perran Wharf. A smaller stream from the north discharges into the tidal creek at Penpol.

Restronguet Point (Cornish: Ros Trongoos, meaning promontory of a wooded point) is a small narrow promontory in the civil parish of Feock in south Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is situated approximately three-quarters of a mile (1 km) south of Feock village.Together with Harcourt (Cornish: Ar Carrek, meaning facing a rock) and Porthgwidden (neighbouring settlements immediately north of the promontory), Restronguet Point forms a distinct community recognised by Feock Parish Council and supported by its own community group, 'Friends of Restronguet Point'. The group has an input into local planning decisions. Restronguet Point is a residential area with housing (mostly large detached properties) on both sides of the lane from Feock.The promontory is approximately 200 metres (660 ft) wide and 700 metres (2,300 ft) long. It projects southward between Restronguet Creek (to the west) and Carrick Roads (to the east). At the southern tip of the promontory (grid reference SW 821 366), the creek discharges into Carrick Roads through a narrow channel known locally as 'the gut'.Restronguet Point lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

Chycoose (Cornish: Chy'n Coos, meaning house of the wood), Point and Penpol (Cornish: Pen Pol, meaning head of a creek) form a coastal settlement around Penpol Creek in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. The creek is a ria, a tidal inlet on the north side of Restronguet Creek. It is situated approximately three-quarters of a mile (1 km) west of Feock village which is four miles (6.5 km) south of Truro.Chycoose is on the west bank of Penpol Creek and Penpol hamlet is at the north end of the creek. Point is on a small promontory where Penpol Creek joins Restronguet Creek. Trolver, a small coastal settlement, extends along the east side of the Penpol Creek south from Penpol. Today, all four settlements are residential in character with many of the houses having river frontages and all four are in the civil parish of Feock.However, until the beginning of the 20th century, Restronguet Creek was a busy commercial waterway with extensive wharves on the north bank. Penpol was a small port engaged in the export of tin and copper from the mining areas a few miles to the north and there were wharves at Point Quay served by an extension of the Redruth and Chasewater Railway; trains on this section of line were hauled by horses from Devoran, a mile (1.6 km) upstream. Restronguet Creek and Carrick Roads (the tidal estuary of the River Fal) are a popular centre for yachting and dinghy racing and the quay at Penpol is now used for leisure boating. 'The Restronguet Creek Society' is a voluntary organisation formed in 1972 to protect and preserve the creek and its environs.

The hamlet is situated on the south shore of the tidal Mylor Creek, an inlet on the west side of Carrick Roads. Trelew lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). A fictionalised version of Trelew appears in the animated film Arthur Christmas (2011) as the hometown of the character Gwen.

To the north it is bordered by Kea parish and to the west by Perranarworthal parish.Feock parish includes the villages of Carnon Downs, Chycoose, Devoran, Goon Piper, Harcourt, Killiganoon, Penelewey, Penpol, Porthgwidden, Restronguet Point, Trevilla, and Trelissick. The electoral ward is called Feock and Kea. At the 2011 census it had a population of 4,511 whereas the civil parish including Bissom has a population of 3,708 only.The garden of the Trelissick Estate is a National Trust property. The King Harry Ferry takes cars across the Fal to Philleigh and the Roseland Peninsula.Feock lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Almost a third of Cornwall has AONB designation. The Duchy Grammar School was built as a house named Tregye in 1809 for William Penrose; in the late 19th century it was extended and remodeled. A 20th-century extension obscures the original entrance.

Carnon Mine was a tin mine at Restronguet Creek, near the village of Devoran in Cornwall, England. A ruined engine house survives on the north bank of the creek. It is a Grade II listed building.

It is the church town of the ecclesiastical parish of Mylor and is situated at the mouth of Mylor Creek, approximately three miles north of Falmouth.Mylor Yacht Harbour is a large yacht marina immediately north of Mylor Churchtown. It has been owned by the Graffy family since 1997. The marina is at the mouth of Mylor Creek at its confluence with Carrick Roads and is the home of Restronguet Sailing Club.
