Flixton railway station

Flixton House was built in 1806 by the Wright family, who had become wealthy land owners in Flixton. Flixton House would probably have been quite unremarkable in a national context had Ralph Wright in 1826 not closed several footpaths across his estate, footpaths that the public had until then been allowed access to. In response to the closure of those footpaths the people of Flixton initiated and funded a court case against Ralph Wright, one of the first footpath battles in England.The people of Flixton won their case, and their success led to the creation of the Manchester Association for the Preservation of Ancient Footpaths in 1826.

St Michael's Church, Flixton, is an Anglican parish church in Flixton, Greater Manchester dedicated to Michael the Archangel. It lies in the parish of Flixton (which originally encompassed the parish of Urmston), in the Anglican Diocese of Manchester (previously in the Diocese of Lichfield for 500 years).

Flixton is a suburb and electoral ward in the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford, Greater Manchester, England. The population of the ward at the 2011 census was 10,786. It lies six miles (9.7 km) southwest of Manchester city centre, in the historic county of Lancashire. Neolithic and Bronze Age artefacts have been found locally and the area may have been inhabited then. Medieval Flixton was a parish within the Hundred of Salford and manor of Flixton, first mentioned in the 12th century. The parish comprised isolated farmsteads and a manor house. Toward the end of the 17th century its population began to rise, continuing through the 19th century, although at a much slower pace than its neighbours. Flixton was a remote rural area with few transport links and did not witness the level of industrialisation other parts of Manchester saw, but its connection to the railway network in 1873 helped transform the area into a middle-class suburb. Flixton is represented in Parliament by Labour MP Andrew Western.

Urmston is a town in Trafford, Greater Manchester, England, which had a population of 41,825 at the 2011 Census. Historically in Lancashire, it is 5 miles (8 km) southwest of Manchester city centre. The southern boundary is the River Mersey, with Stretford lying to the east and Flixton to the west. Davyhulme lies to the north of the town centre. Urmston covers an area of 4,799 acres (19.42 km2). The town has early medieval origins, and until the arrival of the railway in 1873 was a small farming community. The railway acted as a catalyst, transforming the town into a residence for the middle classes.

Wellacre Academy (simply referred to as Wellacre and officially Wellacre Technology Academy, formerly Wellacre Technology College and Urmston Wellacre County Secondary School) is an 11–16 boys, secondary school with academy status in Flixton, Greater Manchester, England. It was formerly a foundation school that was established in 1955 and adopted its present name after becoming an academy in 2011. The school had a sixth form that was established in 2009, but closed in 2017 due to a small number of students enrolling, resulting in it not being financially sustainable. It is noted for having more solar panels than any other school in Great Britain.

Flixton Girls' School (formerly Flixton Girls' High School) is a secondary school with academy status, located in the Flixton area of the borough of Trafford, Greater Manchester, England.The school first opened in 1933 and converted to academy status in 2011. The school now admits girls of all abilities. Flixton Girls' School opened a new, female only, sixth form in September 2013, in partnership with Trafford College. Girls in the sixth form have the option to study from a range of A-levels and BTECs.

Chassen Road railway station is in the Trafford metropolitan borough of Greater Manchester in the north west of England. The station was opened by the Cheshire Lines Committee on 10 September 1934. The station, and all services calling there, is operated by Northern Trains. The station is 6.2 miles (10 km) west of Manchester Oxford Road on the southern route of the two Manchester to Liverpool Lines, formerly known as the Cheshire Lines Committee line.

Carrington is a village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford, Greater Manchester, England. Historically a part of Cheshire, the village is west of the Greater Manchester Urban Area, and includes several industrial sites.

Trafford General Hospital is a district general hospital in Davyhulme, Greater Manchester, England, managed by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

Carrington Training Centre, sometimes referred to as Carrington, was the training ground of EFL League Two club Bury, leased from Manchester City. The League Two club moved into this complex in early 2015 when previous holders, Manchester City moved into a new £50 million training facility close to its Sportcity home in east Manchester. In 2020 Sale Sharks Rugby Union Team would become the new tenants of the ground, moving from their previous facility also based in Carrington.

Flixton F.C. were an English football club based in Flixton, near Urmston in Greater Manchester. They played in the North West Counties Football League Premier Division until 2012 when they resigned from the league. In the late 1990s they spent some time in the Northern Premier League. Previously they had also played in the Manchester League, the Lancashire & Cheshire Amateur League and the South Manchester and Wythenshawe League. They were members of the Manchester Football Association. They most recently played their home games at Valley Road in Flixton.

Davyhulme is an area of Urmston in Greater Manchester, England, historically in Lancashire. The population at the 2011 census was 19,634.
