Ruurlo railway station

Ruurlo is a village and former municipality in the province of Gelderland in the eastern part of the Netherlands. The town has a station on the Zutphen to Winterswijk railway line, and is served by trains every half-hour in both directions. In the evening there is an hourly service. Ruurlo Castle lies just outside the town and is a popular place for weddings. The castle was used as the town hall until 1 January 2005, when the municipality Ruurlo merged with the municipalities of Borculo, Neede and Eibergen into the municipality of Berkelland.

Barchem is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland, located in the municipality Lochem, about 15 km east of the city of Zutphen. It was first mentioned in 1474 as Borchem, and means "settlement on/near a hill". It used to be a little agricultural settlement, and used to be centred around the Barchemse Enk.: 1  In 1840, it was home to 346 people. Later, the centre moved to the road from Lochem to Ruurlo where a toll house was constructed in 1857. In 1860, the church was built at the intersection with the road from Borculo to Zwiep. During World War II, Barchem was the scene of heavy fighting.: 1  There are 25 commonwealth graves on the general cemetery.

Borculo is a city in the eastern Netherlands, in the municipality of Berkelland, Gelderland. Borculo was an independent municipality until 2005, when it merged with Eibergen, Neede, and Ruurlo. Other population centers in the municipality of Borculo were nearby Geesteren, Gelselaar, and Haarlo.

De Stenen Tafel is a restaurant in Borculo, in the Netherlands. It is a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in 1999 and retained that rating until 2011.French restaurant guide Gault Millau did not mention the restaurant or its sister bistro De Olliemölle.The head chef of De Stenen Tafel is Raymond Prinsen, who took over in 1994.Prinsen closed the restaurant in April 2011, due to lack of motivation. He went on with his Bib Gourmand bistro De Olliemölle and started developing other plans, like a cookery school. Prinsen did not enjoy his restaurant-free period and announced the return of the restaurant in April 2012. Although with a different concept, just open two days a week and 20 couverts, he has promised to try to get his star back. The restaurant, nicknamed "De Stenen Tafel 2.0", reopened on 14 September 2012.Raymond Prinsen and his wife Gea Meppelink bought the watermill in 2007. The local municipality Berkelland was in financial difficulties and the sale solved a bit of their problems. For Prinsen and Meppelink, this means that they not only own the restaurant, but also the building in which they have heavily invested.In 2009, Gault Millau awarded the restaurant the Wine Award for the quality of its wine list.

Armhoede is a hamlet in the municipality of Lochem in the province of Gelderland in the Netherlands. It is located two kilometers northeast of Lochem on the canal from Zutphen to Enschede. Administratively, it is largely part of the village of Exel. The name Armhoede (Dutch for 'poverty') would originally have been the name of a meadow nearby, which served as a general pasture for the less wealthy cattle herders.There is a landfill near Armhoede, which was closed in 2004 and has now been covered. A solar park has been opened on the site of the former landfill.

Lochem (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈlɔxəm] ) is a city and municipality in the province of Gelderland in the Eastern Netherlands. In 2005, it merged with the municipality of Gorssel, retaining the name of Lochem. As of 2019, it had a population of 33,590.

Lochem is a railway station just north of Lochem, Netherlands. The station opened on 1 November 1865 and is located on the Zutphen–Glanerbeek railway (Staatslijn D). The services are operated by Syntus. The station is located on the opposite side of the Twentekanaal to Lochem, but is a short walk or bus ride.

Berkelland (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈbɛrkəlɑnt] ) is a municipality in the Netherlands province of Gelderland. It was created on 1 January 2005 from the merger of the former municipalities of Borculo, Eibergen, Neede, and Ruurlo. The new municipality was named after the Berkel, a small river.

Ampsen (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɑmp.sə(n)]) is an estate, castle, and hamlet in the municipality of Lochem in the province of Gelderland in the Netherlands. Administratively, it is part of the village of Exel.

The Achterhoek (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɑxtərɦuk] ; Dutch Low Saxon: Achterhook) is a cultural region in the Eastern Netherlands. Its name (meaning "rear-corner") is geographically appropriate because the area lies in the easternmost part of the province of Gelderland and therefore in the east of the Netherlands, protruding into Germany. The Achterhoek lies at the east of the IJssel and Oude IJssel rivers. On the other sides, it borders Germany to the southeast and the province of Overijssel to the northeast. In 2015, the Achterhoek had a population of 389,682. The region is also called de Graafschap (Dutch for earldom, shire or county; namesake of VBV De Graafschap in Doetinchem) because it coincides with the historical County of Zutphen. The region is predominantly rural, with much open space, forests and farms. The area around the town of Winterswijk is regarded as noteworthy. A well-known beer originates from this region: Grolsch beer was first brewed in Groenlo in 1615.

Geesteren is a village in the eastern Netherlands, located in the municipality of Berkelland, Gelderland. It was hit by a small tornado 1988, which lifted the party tent to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of Geesteren and moved it two meters. Geesteren was a separate municipality until 1818, when it was merged with nearby Borculo.

Zieuwent is a village in the east of the Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Oost Gelre, Gelderland. Zieuwent has the tallest church tower in the Achterhoek region.
