St Giles' Church, Camberwell

Mary Datchelor School was an endowed grammar school for girls on Camberwell Grove in Camberwell, Greater London, England. It was established in 1877 and closed in 1981. It was known for its innovations in encouraging teacher training, and for its encouragement of music.

Brunswick Park is a 4-acre (1.6 ha) public park located in Camberwell, in South East London, and is managed by the London Borough of Southwark. Originally a private square, the park was opened to the public in 1907.

The Camberwell Collegiate School was an independent school in Camberwell, London, England. It was located on the eastern side of Camberwell Grove, directly opposite the Grove Chapel.The school was opened in 1835, as an Anglican school under the patronage of the Bishop of Winchester, and with the support of J. G. Storie, the vicar of the nearby St Giles' Church. It was affiliated to King's College London, which had been established as an Anglican alternative to the secular University College London. The council of King's College offered an annual prize for the school's best pupil.The Collegiate School was situated on a two-acre site laid out as a pleasure ground and flower gardens, and housed in a purpose-built building constructed the previous year to the designs of Henry Roberts, who had also designed the Fishmongers' Hall. Built at a cost of about £3,600 in white brick with stone dressings, and incorporating some aspects of Tudor style, it had a frontage of 300 feet, and was notable for the cloister which formed the centre of its entrance front.The building included an entrance hall, a library, three classrooms, the master's accommodation, and a schoolroom designed to accommodate 200 boys. The large schoolroom was 60 feet long, 33 feet wide, and its 20-foot height was topped by a lantern with pinnacles.The Collegiate School had some success for a while, leading to the closure for some decades of the Denmark Hill Grammar School. However, it had difficulty competing with other nearby schools including Dulwich College, and was closed in 1867. The land was sold for building.

The Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN) is a research institution dedicated to discovering what causes mental illness and diseases of the brain. In addition, its aim is to help identify new treatments for them and ways to prevent them in the first place. The IoPPN is a faculty of King's College London, England, previously known as the Institute of Psychiatry (IoP). The Institute works closely with South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. Many senior academic staff also work as honorary consultants for the Trust in clinical services such as the National Psychosis Unit at Bethlem Royal Hospital. The impact of the Institute's work was judged to be 100% 'world-leading' or 'internationally-excellent' in the Research Excellence Framework (REF 2014). The research environment of the Institute was also rated 100% 'world-leading'. King's College London was rated the second for research in Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience in REF 2014. According to the 2021 US News Ranking, King's College London was ranked second in the world in Psychiatry and Psychology.

Camberwell Grove is a residential street in Camberwell, London, England, in the Borough of Southwark. It follows the line of a grove of trees, hence the name. The street once led from a Tudor manor house south to the top of a hill, which afforded a view of the City of London, approximately three miles to the north. Today, the grove is part of Camberwell Grove Conservation area.

Camberwell was a civil parish and metropolitan borough in south London, England. Camberwell was an ancient parish in the county of Surrey, governed by an administrative vestry from 1674. The parish was included in the area of responsibility of the Metropolitan Board of Works in 1855 and became part of the County of London in 1889. The parish of Camberwell became a metropolitan borough in 1900, following the London Government Act 1899, with the parish vestry replaced by a borough council. In 1965 the borough was abolished and its former area became part of the London Borough of Southwark in Greater London.

Camberwell () is a district of South London, England, in the London Borough of Southwark, 2+3⁄4 miles (4.5 kilometres) southeast of Charing Cross. Camberwell was first a village associated with the church of St Giles and a common of which Goose Green is a remnant. This early parish included the neighbouring hamlets of Peckham, Dulwich, Nunhead, and part of Herne Hill (the rest of Herne Hill was in the parish of Lambeth). Until 1889, it was part of the county of Surrey. In 1900 the original parish became the Metropolitan Borough of Camberwell. In 1965, most of the Borough of Camberwell was merged into the London Borough of Southwark. To the west, part of both West Dulwich and Herne Hill come under the London Borough of Lambeth. The place now known as Camberwell covers a much smaller area than the ancient parish, and it is bound on the north by Walworth; on the south by East Dulwich and Herne Hill; to the west by Kennington; and on the east by Peckham.

Theatre Peckham is a community theatre in Peckham, London. The theatre has operated since the 1990s and includes John Boyega among its alumni.The theatre was originally based in the community hall adjoining the former Camberwell Town Hall and was rehoused in a complex abutting the rebuilt hall.

The Michael Rutter Centre for Children and Adolescents is based at the Maudsley Hospital, a psychiatric hospital run by the National Health Service NHS. Named after Sir Michael Rutter, it caters for children suffering from mental health issues such as anorexia. In 1994 it was estimated that at least 10% of children suffering from mental health problems required specialist facilities, but only 1-1.5% of children were being referred. (Garralda, M.E. 1994). Parry-Jones described Child Mental Health Services as the 'Cinderella Service' (Parry-Jones, W. 1992).
