Careel Bay

Barrenjoey High School is a government-funded co-educational comprehensive secondary day school, located in Avalon Beach, a suburb in the Northern Beaches of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Established in 1968, the school catered for approximately 700 students in 2018, from Year 7 to Year 12, including one percent of whom identified as Indigenous Australians and eight percent were from a language background other than English. The school is operated by the NSW Department of Education; the principal is Mark Robinson.

The area was previously called Avalon, with the name Avalon Beach being assigned during a change in boundaries and names in the Pittwater region in 2012.

Loggan Rock is a heritage-listed residential building located at 111 Whale Beach Road, Avalon Beach (formerly known as Avalon until 2012), Northern Beaches Council, New South Wales, Australia. It was designed in 1929 by Alexander Stewart Jolly in the Californian Bungalow style, with a 1953 modern extension designed by Max Collard. The house was built from 1929 to 1953. The house is also known as Cabin Avalon and Log and Rock; and it was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 15 August 2008.

St Michaels Cave is situated in the Sydney suburb of Avalon Beach. This sea-side cave is around 110 metres long, 15 metres high and 10 metres wide. The original colonial owner was a Reverend John Therry, who planned to deliver lectures within the cave and build a church above it. The cave was formed by the erosion of a jurassic dyke through triassic sedimentary rocks. The cave is known to be a breeding site for Common bent-wing bats and Large-eared pied bats.

The Northern Beaches is a region within Northern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia, near the Pacific coast. This area extends south to the entrance of Port Jackson (Sydney Harbour), west to Middle Harbour and north to the entrance of Broken Bay. The area was formerly inhabited by the Garigal or Caregal people in a region known as Guringai country.The Northern Beaches district is governed on a local level by the Northern Beaches Council, which was formed in May 2016 from Warringah Council (est. 1906), Manly Council (est. 1877), and Pittwater Council (est. 1992).

Bilgola Plateau is a suburb in Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia.The suburb is mainly residential, with two small rows of shops, a small park and a primary school located on the top of the plateau. Bilgola Beach on the eastern side features a surf club and kiosk. Rising to an elevation of 150m above sea level, the suburb has views of the beach and the ocean on the eastern side, and views of the body of water, Pittwater on the western side. To the north are the suburbs of Avalon Beach, Whale Beach, and Palm Beach, with Careel Bay being a minor bay in between the latter two, as well as Clareville to the North West. To the south are Newport, Mona Vale and Narrabeen. The plateau was previously named Mount Loftus, after governor of NSW Lord Augustus Loftus. Given its modest elevation, designating it as a plateau is more appropriate, and is now named for the Aboriginal derived name of Bilgola (derived from the local aboriginal language meaning "swirling water"), likely describing Bilgola Beach to the east.

Hy Brasil, also sometimes Hy-Brasil, is a heritage-listed former weekend retreat and now house located at 62 Chisholm Road, Avalon Beach, Northern Beaches Council, New South Wales, Australia. It was designed by Alexander Stewart Jolly and built in 1936. It is also known as The Gem and Hi Brasil. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

Clareville is a suburb in northern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Clareville is 36 kilometres north-east of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of Northern Beaches Council. Clareville is part of the Northern Beaches region.Clareville is bordered by Avalon Beach, Bilgola Plateau and Newport. Clareville Beach and Taylors Point are localities within the suburb.

The Walter Burley Griffin Lodge is a heritage-listed former residence, holiday house and weekender and now residence located at 32 Plateau Road, Avalon Beach (formerly known as Avalon until 2012), Northern Beaches Council, New South Wales, Australia. It was designed by Walter Burley Griffin and built from 1933 to 1934. It is also known as Burley Griffin Lodge or Stella James House. The property is owned by the New South Wales branch of the National Trust of Australia. The property was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 1 March 2002.

McKay Reserve is a small tract of remnant urban bushland in Palm Beach, parts of which contain the endangered ecological community (EEC) Pittwater and Wagstaffe Spotted Gum Forest. The reserve lies on a ridge on the Barrenjoey Peninsula and overlooks western Pittwater. Mapping by the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage in 2013 shows the reserve as also containing Coastal escarpment littoral rainforest, a particular subgroup of the Littoral Rainforest community, which is also an endangered ecological community.
