Brooklyn Commons, formerly MetroTech Center, is a business and educational center in Downtown Brooklyn, New York City.

The area is a growing hub for education. The diocesan cathedral is the Cathedral Basilica of St. James in Downtown Brooklyn and its co-cathedral is the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph in Prospect Heights. The current Bishop of Brooklyn is Robert J. Brennan. Brooklyn is one of the few dioceses in the United States that is made up of 100% urban territory.The Bishop of the Diocese of Brooklyn, presides from both the Cathedral Basilica of St. James and the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph. This atypical arrangement was required due to the small size of the Cathedral Basilica of St. James. The Wunsch Building of New York University Tandon School of Engineering is the present name of the former Bridge Street Methodist Church, a former Methodist church located at 311 Bridge Street, on the east side between Johnson Street and Myrtle Avenue, in Downtown Brooklyn, New York City. The Greek Revival temple was erected 1844. It is also recorded as the First Congregational Church. The building dates to 1847 and was the first independent black church in Brooklyn. It was also a stop on the Underground Railroad and has been designated a historic landmark since November 24, 1981.The former church was recorded in the AIA Guide to New York City (1977) as the NYU Tandon School of Engineering annex. "A Greek Revival temple in brick with wood columns and entablature: chaste, excepting the later Victorian stained glass, which is exuberant even from the outside."The church building is now called the Wunsch Building and houses the school's Undergraduate Admissions offices. It is used to host many social, cultural, and academic events for the school and community.

The Cathedral Basilica of St. James is the cathedral church of the Diocese of Brooklyn. It is located at the corner of Jay Street and Cathedral Place in Downtown Brooklyn, New York City. It was built in 1903 and designed by George H. Streeton in the Neo-Georgian style.

Bridge-Jay Street was a station on the demolished BMT Myrtle Avenue Line in Brooklyn, New York City. It had 2 tracks and 1 island platform. It was opened on April 10, 1888 as Jay Street, and served Myrtle Avenue Line trains as well as the BMT Lexington Avenue Line, and until it was demolished in 1940, the BMT Fifth Avenue Line, which itself also served BMT Culver Line trains. From 1944 until its demolition in 1969, it had a free transfer to the IND Fulton Street and IND Culver lines at Jay Street – Borough Hall. Around that time, it was renamed "Bridge-Jay Street." The next stop to the north was Navy Street for trains traveling on the Lexington & Myrtle Avenue Lines, and Fulton Street other trains until its demolition in 1940. The next stop to the south was Adams Street. The station was closed on October 4, 1969, after a fire on the elevated structure.

The Jay Street–MetroTech station is a New York City Subway station complex on the IND Fulton Street, IND Culver, and BMT Fourth Avenue lines. The complex is located in the vicinity of MetroTech Center (near Jay and Willoughby Streets) in Downtown Brooklyn. It is served by the: A, F, and R trains at all times C train at all times except late nights N train during late nights only A few rush-hour W and trains in the peak directionThe complex consists of two distinct, perpendicular stations. The Jay Street–Borough Hall station was built by the Independent Subway System (IND) in 1933, while the Lawrence Street–MetroTech station was built by the Brooklyn–Manhattan Transit Corporation (BMT) in 1924. Despite being one block away from each other, the two stations were not connected for 77 years. As part of a station renovation completed in 2010, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) built a passageway to connect the two stations and made the complex fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Both stations also contain "money train" platforms, which were formerly used to deliver MTA token revenue to neighboring 370 Jay Street.

Brooklyn International High School (BIHS, school code: K439) is a public high school in Brooklyn, New York City. It is a part of the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) and the Internationals Network for Public Schools.The school is located within the Water’s Edge Educational Campus, a former torpedo factory in downtown Brooklyn. It shares its campus with the Science Skills Center and the Urban Assembly High School of Music and Art.

The Urban Assembly School for Law & Justice, often shortened to SLJ, is a small law-themed college preparatory public high school in Brooklyn, New York City. It is one of a group of 21 high and middle schools operated by the Urban Assembly (a New York City non-profit organization), which do not require entrance examinations The school is housed in a courthouse building near the Brooklyn Bridge. SLJ was founded in 2004 with a $400,000 grant from the organization New Visions for Public Schools, and support from the Cravath, Swaine & Moore law firm. It continues to receive grants from organizations such as the Robin Hood Foundation. Its structure included a separate foundation, the Adams Street Foundation, "responsible for integrating pre-college enrichment and preparation for college and career into the school’s curriculum" through partnerships with various corporate, foundation and programmatic partners ranging from the Red Hook Community Justice Center to CBS News to the City University of New York.
