Unity is a 22-foot (6.7 m) tall bronze sculpture of an arm, hand, and pointing index finger by Hank Willis Thomas, installed in Brooklyn, New York City. The artwork was unveiled in 2019.

The Urban Assembly School for Law & Justice, often shortened to SLJ, is a small law-themed college preparatory public high school in Brooklyn, New York City. It is one of a group of 21 high and middle schools operated by the Urban Assembly (a New York City non-profit organization), which do not require entrance examinations The school is housed in a courthouse building near the Brooklyn Bridge. SLJ was founded in 2004 with a $400,000 grant from the organization New Visions for Public Schools, and support from the Cravath, Swaine & Moore law firm. It continues to receive grants from organizations such as the Robin Hood Foundation. Its structure included a separate foundation, the Adams Street Foundation, "responsible for integrating pre-college enrichment and preparation for college and career into the school’s curriculum" through partnerships with various corporate, foundation and programmatic partners ranging from the Red Hook Community Justice Center to CBS News to the City University of New York.

The Federal Building and Post Office is a historic main post office, courthouse, and Federal office building in Brooklyn, New York. The original building was the Brooklyn General Post Office, and is now the Downtown Brooklyn Station, and the north addition is the courthouse for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York, and is across the street from and in the jurisdiction of the main courthouse of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, the Theodore Roosevelt Federal Courthouse. It also houses offices for the United States Attorney, In 2009, the United States Congress enacted legislation renaming the building the Conrad B. Duberstein United States Bankruptcy Courthouse, in honor of chief bankruptcy judge Conrad B. Duberstein.

The Cathedral Basilica of St. James is the cathedral church of the Diocese of Brooklyn. It is located at the corner of Jay Street and Cathedral Place in Downtown Brooklyn, New York City. It was built in 1903 and designed by George H. Streeton in the Neo-Georgian style.

The Theodore Roosevelt United States Courthouse is a courthouse in Downtown Brooklyn, New York City, that houses the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. It is across the street from the Federal Building and Post Office, which houses, among other things, the Eastern District of New York's bankruptcy court.

The Diocese of Brooklyn is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Catholic Church in the U.S. state of New York. It is headquartered in Brooklyn and its territory encompasses the New York City boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens. The Diocese of Brooklyn is a suffragan diocese in the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of New York. The diocesan cathedral is the Cathedral Basilica of St. James in Downtown Brooklyn and its co-cathedral is the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph in Prospect Heights. The current Bishop of Brooklyn is Robert J. Brennan. Brooklyn is one of the few dioceses in the United States that is made up of 100% urban territory.The Bishop of the Diocese of Brooklyn, presides from both the Cathedral Basilica of St. James and the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph. This atypical arrangement was required due to the small size of the Cathedral Basilica of St. James. St. Joseph's Church was designated as a Co-Cathedral for the Diocese of Brooklyn on February 14, 2013, by Pope Benedict XVI after Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio petitioned the Vatican.

George Westinghouse Jr. High School of Career and Technical Education is a vocational high school in Downtown Brooklyn, New York, United States. It is located at 105 Tech Place, south of Tillary Street and east of Jay Street. It is named after the electrical pioneer George Westinghouse Jr. The school was one of a number of New York City public schools that dropped Native American-themed sports team names.

Adams Street was a station on the demolished BMT Myrtle Avenue Line and BMT Lexington Avenue Line in Brooklyn, New York City. It had 2 tracks and 2 side platforms. It was opened on February 13, 1888, as "City Hall Station" and closed on March 5, 1944. The next stop to the north was Bridge–Jay Streets. The next stop to the south was Sands Street.

The Brooklyn Theatre fire was a catastrophic theatre fire that broke out on the evening of December 5, 1876, in the city of Brooklyn (now a borough of New York City). The fire took place at the Brooklyn Theatre, near the corner of Washington and Johnson streets, with over a thousand guests attending. The conflagration killed at least 278 individuals, with some accounts reporting more than 300 dead. 103 unidentified victims were interred in a common grave at Green-Wood Cemetery, marked by an obelisk, while more than two dozen identified victims were interred individually in separate sections at the Cemetery of the Evergreens in Brooklyn. The Brooklyn Theatre fire ranks third in fatalities among fires occurring in theatres and other public assembly buildings in the United States, falling behind the 1942 Cocoanut Grove fire and the 1903 Iroquois Theatre fire.Fatalities mainly arose in the family circle, the highest tier in the theatre offering the cheapest seats. This gallery sustained extreme temperatures and dense, suffocating smoke early in the conflagration. Only one stairway served it which became jammed with people and cut off escape for more than half the gallery's occupants.

The Jay Street–MetroTech station is a New York City Subway station complex on the IND Fulton Street, IND Culver, and BMT Fourth Avenue lines. The complex is located in the vicinity of MetroTech Center (near Jay and Willoughby Streets) in Downtown Brooklyn. It is served by the: A, F, and R trains at all times C train at all times except late nights N train during late nights only A few rush-hour W and trains in the peak directionThe complex consists of two distinct, perpendicular stations. The Jay Street–Borough Hall station was built by the Independent Subway System (IND) in 1933, while the Lawrence Street–MetroTech station was built by the Brooklyn–Manhattan Transit Corporation (BMT) in 1924. Despite being one block away from each other, the two stations were not connected for 77 years. As part of a station renovation completed in 2010, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) built a passageway to connect the two stations and made the complex fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Both stations also contain "money train" platforms, which were formerly used to deliver MTA token revenue to neighboring 370 Jay Street.

Beacon is an art installation with twin cast-bronze sculptures by Lisa Scheer, installed outside Brooklyn's Theodore Roosevelt United States Courthouse, in the U.S. state of New York.

The Henry Ward Beecher Monument, a statue of Henry Ward Beecher created by the sculptor John Quincy Adams Ward, was unveiled on June 24, 1891 in Borough Hall Park, Brooklyn and was later relocated to Cadman Plaza, Brooklyn in 1959.
