News From Nowhere is a bookshop in Liverpool, UK. Founded in 1974, it is a not-for-profit and since the early 1980s has been run as a women's co-operative. It is named for the 1890 utopian socialist novel by William Morris. It has been based on Liverpool's Bold Street since 1989. The co-operative owns the building from which it operates thanks to donations from locals. This allows it to be used as a community space by various organisations, including Food From Nowhere, a donation-only vegan cafe. Longstanding staff member Mandy Vere explains: "We've had a lesbian mothers group, we've had a working class women writers group, we've had a survivors of sexual violence group. We've hosted local neighbourhood campaigns against rapacious landlords, the local HIV and AIDS support group".

Nerve is a free magazine published by Catalyst Media (formerly Catalyst Creative Media) in Liverpool, North West England. Combining features on social issues with artist profiles, it runs to 32 pages and is published about three times a year. The magazine has a broadly anti-capitalist stance. Catalyst was set up by local writer activist and founding editor Darren Guy in early 2003, with the stated aim of 'promoting grassroots arts and culture on Merseyside'. When Guy moved on in winter 2006, a co-operative editorial team of Adam Ford, Paul Hunt, Ritchie Hunter and Colin Serjent was brought together. Ritchie Hunter became the main editor of the magazine from 2008 through to 2016 when he stepped down. The magazine was then taken on by Darren Guy, Colin Serjent and Paul Hunt. Nerve is probably the longest running arts and social magazine in the north west, with its primary focus being Liverpool, and its readership reaching over 10,000 copies per issue. Nerve over the years has created a lot of controversy, seeing itself as a voice for the voiceless, it has challenged both local corporate control, local council and has faced down a number of threats from both merseyside police and a large corporation, for exposing their activities. Nerve has had a number of offshoots, including 'The Nerve centre' . 'Nerve Writers' and 'Nerve radio' and its website www.catalystmedia.org.uk is probably the most accessed alternative media website on Merseyside.

FACT Liverpool is a new media arts centre in Liverpool, England. The building houses galleries, a cinema operated by Picturehouse, a bar and a café.

Bold Street is a street in Liverpool, England. It is known for its cafés and for the Church of St Luke, which is situated at the top end. The bottom end leads into the area surrounding Clayton Square, which is part of the main retail district of central Liverpool. The bottom end contains more shops which are chain stores. Liverpool Central, a major hub of the Merseyrail rapid transit/commuter rail network, can also be accessed via an entrance on Bold Street next to The Lyceum, a post office which was Europe's first lending library. The middle area contains bars as it leads towards Concert Square, a square containing clubs and bars, and the top end contains more independent shops and cafes. For the most part, Bold Street is pedestrianised and cars do not have access.

Dukes Terrace is an historic terraced house in the English city of Liverpool, Merseyside. A Grade II listed building, the terrace, which includes nine homes, was built in 1843, and is the last of the back-to-back building style in Liverpool. Originally the home of the employees of wealthy merchants, the property was condemned in the 1930s but avoided demolition because the tenants did not want to leave the community. It had fallen into dereliction by the 1970s and lay vacant for over thirty years. The building was restored and converted into apartments and housing in 2003.The terrace is part of the Duke Street Conservation Area in the Georgian Quarter of the city centre that was built to service the "Old Dock" of 1715.A statue of William Huskisson (1770–1830) stands in the car park in front of the terrace. Huskisson reportedly became the first railway passenger casualty when he was run over and fatally wounded by Robert Stephenson's pioneering locomotive Rocket.

The Blue Angel, also known as "The Raz" is a nightclub in Liverpool, England. It is located where Seel Street meets Berry Street in Liverpool city centre. It is a venue in Liverpool in which The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and many other bands played at in the 1960s. It was historically a jazz club, but it now plays pop music.

Maguire's Pizza Bar was a restaurant and music venue in Liverpool, United Kingdom. It was known for serving vegan food and its association with the city's DIY punk music scene. It was listed in The Guardian newspaper's top 10 music venues in Liverpool in 2014 and PETA's list of the UK's best vegan-friendly pizzerias in 2016. Notable bands to have played there include Spare Snare, Zombina and the Skeletones, Billy Liar, Idle Frets, Worriers, Pardon Us, Doe and Martha The establishment closed in September 2018

St Luke's Church, more commonly known by locals as the bombed-out church, is a former Anglican parish church in Liverpool, England. It stands on the corner of Berry Street and Leece Street, at the top of Bold Street. The church was built between 1811 and 1832, and was designed by John Foster, Sr. and John Foster, Jr., father and son who were successive surveyors for the municipal Corporation of Liverpool. In addition to being a parish church, it was also intended to be used as a venue for ceremonial worship by the Corporation and as a concert hall. The church was badly damaged by bombs during the Liverpool Blitz in 1941 and has been a roofless shell ever since, giving rise to its nickname. It now stands as a memorial to those who died in the war, and has also been hired as a venue for exhibitions and events. The church and its surrounding walls, gates, and railings are recorded in the National Heritage List for England as designated Grade II* listed buildings.

The Whitehouse was a pub in a Grade II listed building in Duke Street, Liverpool, England. The side of the building had an image of a giant rat holding a marker pen by graffiti artist Banksy. In February 2010, the building sold for £114,000 at auction, and has since been turned into a restaurant called Petit Cafe du Coin, following the removal and sale of the rat mural.

St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church is a former church in Seel Street, Liverpool, Merseyside, England now transformed into a restaurant and bar called Alma de Cuba - "the soul of Cuba". St. Peter's was built in 1788 by Rev A.B. MacDonald of the Order of St Benedict (O.S.B.); the area was mostly rural at the time. The church survived as a Catholic building until 1976, after which it served the local Polish community for a short time. For this reason it is affectionately known as 'the Polish Church'. Until its closure, St. Peter's was the oldest Catholic Church in Liverpool. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Korova was a bar, music venue and restaurant located at 32 Hope Street, Liverpool, England. Before moving to its current premises, it was located on Fleet Street close to Concert Square. Its name referenced the Korova Milk Bar from A Clockwork Orange.. It has since been relaunched as "Frederick's".
