Its nearest town is Helston, which lies approximately 10.1 miles (16.3 km) north-west from the hamlet. The parish is notable for being the most southern point on British mainland.Church Cove lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Parts of the hamlet lie within Caerthillian to Kennack SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest).

The Lizard Lighthouse is a lighthouse at Lizard Point, Cornwall, England, built to guide vessels passing through the English Channel. It was often the welcoming beacon to persons returning to England, where on a clear night, the reflected light could be seen 100 mi (160 km) away.

The Lizard Lifeboat Station can refer to several Royal National Lifeboat Institution lifeboat stations located on the Lizard in Cornwall, United Kingdom. The first was established at the southernmost point of the peninsula in 1859. Since then successive stations have all been in operation at different locations on The Lizard. The current station is located at Kilcobben Cove 0.5 mi (0.80 km) east of the village of Lizard.The lifeboat stations have all covered the westerly approaches to the English Channel; with up to 400 ships-a-day, it is one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world. The lifeboat service has saved many lives over the past 150 years.

Bass Point is a headland on the coast of Cornwall, England. It is at the southern tip of the Lizard peninsula, in the civil parish of Landewednack. The headland was a communications centre during the Victorian era, with the Lloyds Signal Station, opened in 1872 for shore to ship communications, and Marconi's experiments with wireless at the Lizard Wireless Station.

SM U-95 was one of the 329 submarines serving in the Imperial German Navy in World War I. U-95 was engaged in the naval warfare and took part in the First Battle of the Atlantic. She was rammed and sunk by the steamship SS Breaneil off the Lizard Peninsula on 7 January 1918. The wreck was found and identified by archaeologist Innes McCartney in 2006.

The naval Battle of the Lizard (French: Combat du Cap Lézard) took place on 21 October 1707 during the War of the Spanish Succession near Lizard Point, Cornwall between two French squadrons under René Duguay-Trouin and Claude de Forbin and an English convoy protected by a squadron under Commodore Richard Edwards.Duguay-Trouin and Forbin were two of the most successful French naval commanders and they caused much damage to the allied merchant fleet.

Adolf Vinnen was a five-masted barquentine that was built by Friedrich Krupp Germaniawerft, Kiel, Germany. She was wrecked on her maiden voyage in 1923.

St Grada & Holy Cross Church, Grade is the Church of England parish church of Grade with Ruan, Cornwall. The church is a Grade I listed building, having been added to the listed buildings register on 10 July 1957.

Higher Pentreath and Lower Pentreath (Cornish: Penntreth, representing penn an treth, meaning head (of) the beach) are hamlets to the west of Praa Sands, within the parish of Breage. They are south of the A394 between Penzance and Helston in Cornwall, United Kingdom.Pentreath Beach is a cove and beach on the Lizard Peninsula. It is 200 metres (660 ft) south of Kynance Cove and access is via a steep cliff path cut into the cliffs. The beach is popular with surfers as it is one of the few beaches in the area with regularly surfable waves (it is unsuitable for novice surfers because of submerged rocks and strong undercurrents).
