Desert Mountain High School (DMHS) is a public high school in northeast Scottsdale, Arizona, which opened in the fall of 1995. It is the newest of five high schools in the Scottsdale Unified School District. The school has four computer labs, media studio, theater, college/career center, yearbook/newspaper production labs, child development department, business-regulated curriculum, off-school campus medical education facilities and extensive athletic facilities. Desert Mountain has a two-semester scheduling format to serve its student population of almost 2,300 students in grades nine through twelve. In 1998, Desert Mountain became an International Baccalaureate Member School and is a magnet program for the Scottsdale Unified School District. Desert Mountain offers students the choice of standard, honors, Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate classes. Special programs are available for gifted (including Advanced Placement), English Language Learners and Special Education students. Extensive vocational programs are available through a partnership with the East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT).

KHOT-FM (105.9 MHz) is a commercial radio station licensed to Paradise Valley, Arizona, and serving the Phoenix metropolitan area. It airs a Regional Mexican radio format, and is owned by TelevisaUnivision, calling itself "Que Buena 105.9 y 105.1." KHOT-FM has an effective radiated power of 36,000 watts. It also transmits on a 7,000-watt booster station at 105.9 in Glendale. Programming is simulcast on KHOV-FM at 105.1 MHz in Wickenburg.

Taliesin West was architect Frank Lloyd Wright's winter home and studio in the desert from 1937 until his death in 1959 at the age of 91. Today, it is the headquarters of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. Open to the public for tours, Taliesin West is located on Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard in Scottsdale, Arizona. The complex drew its name from Wright's home, Taliesin, in Spring Green, Wisconsin.

The Salt River Pima–Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC) comprises two distinct Native American tribes—the Pima (O'odham language: Onk Akimel O'odham, meaning "Salt River People") and the Maricopa (Maricopa language: Xalychidom Piipaash, meaning "people who live toward the water")—many of whom were originally part of the Halchidhoma (Xalchidom) tribe. The community was permanently created by an Executive Order of US President Rutherford Birchard Hayes on June 14th, 1879. The community area includes 53,600 acres (217 km2), of which 19,000 remain a natural preserve. As of 2022, the total population is 7,386. The community is a federally recognized tribe located in Arizona. The community borders the Arizona cities of Scottsdale, Mesa, Tempe, and Fountain Hills. The Great Seal of the Salt River Pima–Maricopa Indian Community is a representation of I'itoi, commonly referred to as the Man in the Maze.

Thompson Peak is located in the McDowell Mountains, the summit being 20 miles (32 km) to the northeast of Phoenix, Arizona. Its height is 3,984 feet (1,214 m). Thompson Peak has amateur and Maricopa County government radio towers on the summit, accessible via a service road from Fountain Hills.

The McDowell Mountain Range (Yavapai: Wi:kajasa) is located about twenty miles north-east of downtown Phoenix, Arizona, and may be seen from most places throughout the city. The range is composed of miocene deposits left nearly five million years ago. The McDowells share borders with the cities of Fountain Hills, Scottsdale, and Maricopa County. The city of Scottsdale has made its share of the McDowells a preserve, and has set up a wide trail network in partnership with the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy. The McDowell Sonoran Conservancy was established in 1991. The highest peak in the McDowells is East End, at 4,069 feet (1,240 m). This mountain range also serves as a sacred marker to the Yavapai people. The boundaries of the range are generally defined by Saddleback Mountain in the South and Granite Mountain as the Northern boundary. The McDowells also comprise popular landmarks such as Pinnacle Peak and Tom's Thumb. Although technically a stand-alone, Mt. McDowell (referred to as Red Mountain by Phoenix residents), not to be confused with McDowell Peak, is sometimes listed on maps as a part of the McDowell Mountains.

Talking Stick Resort is a luxury hotel and casino resort located on the Salt-River Pima Maricopa Indian Reservation near Scottsdale, Arizona. The hotel tower, which was designed by FFKR Architects, has 15 stories and stands at 200 feet and six inches. Talking Stick Resort is independently owned and operated by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC). In total, Talking Stick Resort occupies 55.6 acres with an additional 20 acres for extra parking space. The 240,000 square feet property includes a 98,000 square feet casino, 496 guest rooms, 21 meeting rooms, six entertainment lounges and five restaurants. It also contains a 25,000 square feet Grand Ballroom, a spa spanning 13,000 square feet, a fitness center, Showroom that seats 650 and four pools. In April 2014, Talking Stick Resort renovated its pool area, adding a new lounge pool and a stage for outdoor concerts. Entertainers who have performed on the poolside stage include Journey, Foreigner, Bad Company and Hollywood Vampires. In addition to Talking Stick Resort's headline concerts, the RELEASE Pool Parties have also attracted an array of world renowned DJs including Kaskade, Steve Aoki, and Skrillex.

OdySea Aquarium in the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community in Scottsdale, Arizona, is a marine aquarium, and the largest aquarium in the Southwest United States. It holds more than 2,000,000 US gallons (7,600,000 L; 1,700,000 imp gal) of water and spans over 200,000 square feet (19,000 m2). There are over 6,000 animals and 370 different species in over 65 exhibits.

Fountain Hills High School is a public high school in Fountain Hills, Arizona under the jurisdiction of the Fountain Hills Unified School District. Fountain Hills High School was constructed from 1991 to 1993, and its first graduating class was in 1994. It is located next to the local Golden Eagle Park, south of the Ashbrook Wash. Fountain Hills High School has many extracurricular programs, including a first-place band and many champion-winning athletic teams. Clubs include robotics, key vlub, National Honor Society, student government, jazz band, and astronomy. There is a wide variety of AP & honors classes, an AVID program, an elaborate art department and much more.Fountain Hills is seeing a gradual increase in students from Scottsdale due to the small and inclusive appeal Fountain Hills High School offers compared to surrounding schools.The Fountain Hills High School marching band won 1st place at the ABODA (Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors Association) Super State Finals competition at Arizona State University's Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona.The Fountain Hills High School symphonic band performs locally at the Fountain Hills Community Center semiannually at the end of the second and fourth academic quarters. All members of the marching band automatically convert into symphonic band students at the conclusion of the marching band season. The symphonic band competes alongside the jazz band during the annual band & choir California spring trip.The Fountain Hills High School falcon jazz band is classified as a school club, and meets biweekly for rehearsals. The jazz band competes alongside the symphonic band during the annual band & choir California spring trip.

Salt River Elementary School, formerly known as Salt River Indian Day School, is a tribal elementary school located on the Salt River Pima–Maricopa Indian Community reservation in unincorporated Maricopa County, Arizona. It is affiliated with the Bureau of Indian Education. It covers elementary grades.

McDowell Peak is located in the McDowell Mountains, to the northeast of Phoenix, Arizona. Its height is 4,036 feet (1,230 m). McDowell Peak is located approximately half a mile north of the easily recognizable Thompson Peak, and shares a ridge with Drinkwater Peak. It is bordered on the south by Bell Pass, and on the north by Windgate Pass. The peak is in Scottsdale's McDowell Sonoran Preserve, owned and operated by the city of Scottsdale. By local ordinances "all preserve users must remain on designated and posted trails..." As of August 2016, there were no trails to the summit of McDowell Peak meaning that access was restricted.

Salt River High School (SRHS) was a high school on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community near Scottsdale, Arizona. It was operated by that tribe's Education Department along with an early education/Head Start facility, elementary school, alternative school and higher education department. The high school opened in August 2004 with an award-winning campus and grounds. Salt River High School was located on a federally recognized Native American reservation, which provided students and families opportunities to learn and partake in the rich histories and contemporary experiences of both the O'Odham (Pima) and Piipaash (Maricopa) people who reside within and/or are members of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. Salt River High School was a member of the Canyon Athletic Association. This school closed its doors sometime in 2021.
