The West End Library, now the Unionville Museum, is a historic library and museum building at 15 School Street in the Unionville village of Farmington, Connecticut. The Renaissance style building was designed by New York City architect Edward Tilton, and completed in 1917 with funding from Andrew Carnegie. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

The Gridley-Parson-Staples House is a historic house museum at 1554 Farmington Avenue in Farmington, Connecticut. Probably built about 1760, it is the oldest surviving house in northwestern Farmington, and a fine example of 18th century Georgian architecture. It is now home to the Farmington Historical Society, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.

Farmington High School is a public high school in Farmington, Connecticut that serves grades 9-12. In Newsweek's 2005 poll, FHS was ranked #1 in Connecticut and #271 in the nation, scoring high on both the challenge index and the equity and excellence index. Presently, the school is ranked #5 in the state by U.S. News & World Report.In June 2017, a town vote to build a new school occurred. Advocates for the new building highlighted the severe aging and inadequacy of the existing facilities. Due to budgetary concerns, the vote did not pass. In June 2021, a subsequent referendum was held, with the proposed renovation estimated to cost $135.6 million; this referendum passed by a wide margin.

The Pine Grove Historic District encompasses a well-preserved collection of primarily 19th-century farmsteads, located near one another and a local district school building in Avon, Connecticut. Centered around the junction of West Avon and Harris Roads are four 19th-century farmsteads, one dating to the 18th century, and the 1865 Gothic Revival Pine Grove School. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The Hart's Corner Historic District encompasses a microcosm of 19th-century agricultural history in southeastern Burlington, Connecticut. Set at the corner of Stafford and Monce Roads are three farmsteads, dating in age from the 1790s to 1874, all of which are well-preserved specimens of their style. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

The Hartford Connecticut Temple is a temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) in Farmington, Connecticut. It is the first LDS temple in Connecticut and the second in New England, following the Boston Massachusetts Temple. The temple is located at the intersection of Melrose Drive and Farmington Avenue.

Farmington is a town in Hartford County in the Farmington Valley area of central Connecticut in the United States. The town is part of the Capitol Planning Region. The population was 26,712 at the 2020 census. It sits 10 miles west of Hartford at the hub of major I-84 interchanges, 20 miles south of Bradley International Airport and two hours by car from New York City and Boston. It is home to the world headquarters of several large corporations including Otis Elevator Company, United Technologies, and Carvel. The northwestern section of Farmington is a suburban neighborhood called Unionville.

The Pequabuck River is a river, approximately 19 miles (30.6 km) in length, which rises in Litchfield County, Connecticut, and courses through neighboring Hartford County before emptying into the Farmington River in Farmington. The river has played a crucial role in the development of Plainville, Connecticut, in particular. The river's lower drainage basin consists of industrial and urban areas, and effluents from these areas pollute the river's waters. The Pequabuck drove a water wheel that provided 8 horsepower to the Upper Lock Shop in Plymouth, Connecticut, a facility which would eventually become the Lewis Lock Company in 1851 and, finally, the once-renowned Eagle Lock Company.: 55  The river banks were historically the site of one of United States' first malleable iron-producing units, known as Malleable Iron Works (later Andrew Terry and Company).: 88
