University of Worcester

Henwick is a suburb of Worcester, England. It is located to the west of the River Severn and to the north of St. John's. Henwick is often affected by flooding of the Severn particularly along parts of the Hylton Road which runs next to the river. The offices of the Worcester Journal and Worcester News newspapers, and the BBC Hereford and Worcester studios are all located next to the Hylton Road in Henwick. The University of Worcester's primary campus is also in Henwick.

Worcester Racecourse is a thoroughbred horse racing venue located in the city of Worcester, Worcestershire, England. Horse racing has taken place here since at least 1718. It staged Flat racing until 1966 but has since staged National Hunt racing only. It is popularly known by Worcester residents as 'Pitchcroft' and is just short of 100 acres. From 1893 the Worcester Rugby Club played on ground enclosed by the racecourse for a number of years. In 1902 Berwick Rangers and Worcester Rovers football clubs amalgamated taking the present name of Worcester City F.C. playing on an enclosed area of the racecourse called Severn Terrace (behind the present Swan Theatre) until the start of the 1905 season.The course is laid out as a left handed oval circuit of about 13 furlongs (approximately 2,615 metres) in length, with nine fences (five down the back straight and four in the home straight) and situated by the east bank of the River Severn and the north side of Worcester Bridge.During the 2007 floods, the racecourse was inundated and all the fixtures after June 30 had to be cancelled.

Henwick railway station was a station in Henwick, Worcestershire, England. The station was opened on 25 July 1859 and closed on 3 April 1965.

BBC Hereford & Worcester is the BBC's local radio station serving Herefordshire and Worcestershire. It broadcasts on FM, DAB, digital TV and via BBC Sounds from studios on Hylton Road in Worcester. According to RAJAR, the station has a weekly audience of 96,000 listeners and a 6.7% share as of September 2021.

Worcester Rowing Club is a rowing club on the River Severn, based at The Boathouse, Grandstand Road, Pitchcroft, Worcester, Worcestershire, West Midlands and backs on to Worcester Racecourse.

Dines Green is a suburb of Worcester in England, and lies in the St. John ward in the west of the city . Initially developed as council housing, the estate now consists of a mix of council and privately owned homes: 49% of households were renting from the council or another landlord at the 2001 census.

Boughton Halt railway station was a station in St Johns, Worcester, Worcestershire, England. The station was opened on 31 March 1924 and closed on 5 April 1965.

The University of Worcester Arena, commonly referred to as Worcester Arena, is a multi-purpose sports venue and events arena in Worcester, England. The 2,000-seat capacity venue opened in April 2013 and is the home arena of Worcester Wolves basketball team, whilst also being a national centre of excellence for disability sports.Plans for the construction of a new sports arena were first unveiled in January 2010 after the University of Worcester had purchased land on Hylton Road used previously as a fruit and vegetable market. Initial reports indicated the capacity of the new venue would seat 1,500 people, cost £10 million and would be due to open in the Spring of 2012.Willmott Dixon was appointed as the project's developer, working alongside architect Roberts Limbrick. Construction of the sports arena started in early 2012 and was due to be completed by January 2013 but several delays during construction meant that the opening of arena was setback until April 2013.The University of Worcester officially announced the opening of the new sports arena on 12 April 2013, completed at a cost of £15 million. The first event to be staged at the arena was the 2013 Netball Superleague Grand Final which saw Team Bath defeat Celtic Dragons 62-56. 1,509 spectators attended the inaugural event, which was heralded as a resounding success by local media.Worcester Wolves made their first official appearance at their new home on 4 October, marking the occasion with a 73–61 victory over the reigning British Basketball League champions Leicester Riders.

St John's is a suburb of Worcester, England, lying west of the city centre and the River Severn. St. John's is referred to locally as the "Village in the City", which is partly due to being an independent township, before joining the city in 1837. Although there is still a strong sense of pride and identity within the community.The Ward of St. John constitutes one of the fifteen wards of the city. See map of Wards within Worcester City Council [1]. St John borders the St. Clement Ward to the North, Cathedral Ward to the East and Bedwardine Ward. to the South. It adjoins the Civil Parish of Broadheath to the West. The A44 runs through the area and is the most direct route from Worcester City Centre to Hereford. St John's is roughly 1.2 km (1,300 yards) West of the city centre. It comprises the area surrounding St John's Church, a short part of Bromyard Road, Bransford Road and Bromwich Lane. However; the area West of the River Severn is often wholly referred to as St John's, therefore encompassing the University, the Worcestershire County Cricket Club ground and Cripplegate Park.

The Swan Theatre is a theatre currently run by the Worcester Theatres Charitable Trust in Worcester, England. It is the official residence of the Worcester Repertory Company, Swan Youth Theatre and Young Rep. It stages drama, music, dance and spoken word as well as being hired out to local, regional and national amateur groups. It was built in 1965 and was designed by Henry Gorst. The Swan Theatre was built a decade after the demolition of the Worcester Theatre Royal, which was condemned due to fire damage.The theatre has undergone two major refurbishments since it was built. One in the late 1970s which added a studio theatre, office spaces and workshop space and another in 2009. The 2009 refurbishment installed air-handling in the theatre's main house as well as the removal of asbestos and the inclusion of a public balcony in the bar and foyer area. In addition to the 350 seat main house auditorium the theatre has a 50 seat studio space, The Vesta Tilley Studio, named after Music Hall star and Worcester born performer, Vesta Tilley.

The Sentinel Valve Works Ltd was a British company based in Worcester, England, that made medium, large and enormous valves initially for civic clean water distribution and sewage treatment, and later the production of valves for steam heating and electrical generation (steam turbines), and the chemical and petroleum industries. The company traded under the brand name Sentinel Valves.

Christopher Whitehead Language College and Sixth Form is a secondary school in Worcester, Worcestershire, England. It is a co-educational school, in which there are about 1200 students enrolled, aged between 11 and 18. The school holds Specialist Language College status, and became an academy in 2011. In 2015 they opened a new sixth form centre with the first intake arriving in September 2015.
