West Kensington, Philadelphia

David Farragut School is a historic school building located in the West Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1873 and is a three-story, four bay, stone building in the Italianate-style. An addition was built in 1915. It features brownstone and limestone trim. It was named for Admiral David Farragut (1801–1870). It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

William Adamson School is a historic school building located in the West Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was designed by Addison Hutton and built in 1879–1880. It is a three-story, four bay, brick building on a stone basement in the Queen Anne-style. The two central bays are slightly projecting. It features brownstone sills and lintels and brick piers with brownstone tops.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

Kensington Hospital, formerly known as Kensington Hospital for Women, is the 2nd oldest, and last remaining independent hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The hospital was established in 1887 by Howard A. Kelly, MD, who later became one of the founding professors at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and the chair of gynecological surgery of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. The hospital was added to the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places in 2019.

York–Dauphin station is an elevated rapid transit station on the Market–Frankford Line, of the SEPTA transit system. It is located in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Northern National Bank was a historic bank building located in the Hartranft neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1893, and was a two-story, brick and stone flatiron building in the Romanesque. It featured terra cotta and pressed metal decorative elements, and a set of pink granite steps at the main entrance. It has been demolished. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Joseph C. Ferguson School is a historic school building located in the Cecil B. Moore neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was designed by Irwin T. Catharine and built in 1921–1922. It is a three-story, nine bay, U-shaped brick building on a raised basement, in the Colonial Revival-style. It features large stone arches, a double stone cornice, and brick parapet. The school is named after Joseph C. Ferguson a judge that was a part of Philadelphia orphan court. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.The building is currently the home The U School, an innovative high school in the School District of Philadelphia. The U School and Building 21, two schools with a non-selective lottery-based admissions process, opened at the Ferguson building during the 2014–2015 school year. Building 21 relocated after three academic years, and The U School remains.

Northeast Manual Training School, also known as Edison High School, was a historic school building located in the Fairhill neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1903-1905 as a 31⁄2-story, random-coursed granite building in the Romanesque style. It featured a center turret, flanked by projecting gable ends.A fire on August 3, 2011, destroyed most of the interior, but the structural walls remained in good condition. The school, which had been closed in 2009 and then inhabited by squatters, was demolished in late 2011.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The Albion Carpet Mill, also known as the Bromley Mills, is a former mill in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, for producing ingrain and damask carpet. Various members of the Bromley family were associated with Philadelphia's carpet industry. By 1882, James A. and George D. Bromley were producing the more common ingrain and damask carpets at their Albion Carpet Mill on the northwest corner of East Hagert and Jasper Streets. The firm had 350 employees at 140 looms. A six-story brick building with a decorated and corbelled brick cornice and arched window openings still stands. Adjoining the east side of the mill on the corner sits a one-story warehouse.

Fairhill is bordered by Front Street to the east, Germantown Avenue (10th Street) to the west, Allegheny Avenue to the north, and Cumberland Street to the south. The neighborhood serves as the center of the Hispanic community of Philadelphia, and is known for its "El Centro de Oro" commercial strip along North 5th Street. Fairhill is adjacent to Harrowgate and West Kensington to the east, Hartranft to the south, Glenwood to the west, and Hunting Park to the north.
