The Colby Mansion is a historic house on Vermont Route 100 in Waterbury, Vermont. It was built in 1870 by George J. Colby, a proponent of ideas of house construction for healthy living, and exhibits all of the major features of his published works. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

The Mill Village Historic District encompasses a small 19th-century industrial village on Stowe Street in Waterbury, Vermont. The area is a compact and somewhat isolated example of a mill village of the mid-19th century; it is roughly bounded by Stowe Street, Graves Brook, and the northbound offramp of Exit 10 from Interstate 89. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Waterbury is an unincorporated village and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Waterbury, Washington County, Vermont, United States. The population was 1,897 at the 2020 census. The former village of Waterbury was dissolved in 2017, and its governmental functions were merged with the town of Waterbury.

Waterbury station, also known as Waterbury–Stowe, is an Amtrak train station in Waterbury, Vermont, United States. It was originally built in 1875 by the Central Vermont Railroad.During 2006, the station underwent a major renovation project, during which the building was restored to its 1875 appearance. Corrective structural work was done on the trackside wall and canopy and water drainage problems were addressed. Workers also rebuilt the bell-shaped cupola on the top of the central tower. Inside, partitions were removed to expose the original 18-foot-high vaulted ceiling. Green Mountain Coffee now leases most of the space in the depot.

The Winooski Street Bridge is a historic bridge carrying Winooski Street across the Winooski River between Duxbury and Waterbury, Vermont. Built in 1928, it is a Parker through truss, one of only two of this type on the Winooski River and an increasingly rare bridge type in the state. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006 as Bridge 31.

The Waterbury Village Historic District encompasses most of the central commercial and residential area of Waterbury, Vermont. Located along United States Route 2 and Stowe Street south of Thatcher Branch of the Winooski River, the sprawling village has been shaped by changes in transportation in the 19th and 20th centuries, and by key economic developments such as the founding of the Vermont State Hospital, which anchors the village's southern end. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Vermont State Hospital, alternately known as the Vermont State Asylum for the Insane and the Waterbury Asylum, was a mental institution built in 1890 in Waterbury, Vermont to help relieve overcrowding at the privately run Vermont Asylum for the Insane in Brattleboro, Vermont, now known as the Brattleboro Retreat. Originally intended to treat the criminally insane, the hospital eventually took in patients with a wide variety of problems, including mild to severe mental disabilities, epilepsy, depression, alcoholism and senility. The hospital campus, much of which now houses other state offices as the Waterbury State Office Complex, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016. Partly as a replacement for this facility, the state currently operates the 25 bed Vermont Psychiatric Care Hospital in Berlin, Vermont.

The Waterbury Dam was built between 1935-1938 by 2,000 men working for the Corps of Engineers, United States Army, to serve as one of three dams to control the flow of Little River, Vermont, Winooski River and its tributaries. In 1927, flood waters from the Winooski River killed over 55 people and caused an estimated $13,000,000 in damage. Along with flood control, the dam also generates electric energy, generating an average of 15,000,000 kilowatt-hours (54,000,000 MJ) annually. The 1,845 feet (562 m) long dam is filled with 2,200,000 cubic yards (1,700,000 m3) of material, including 3,490 cubic yards (2,668 m3) of clay in its center portion. The rocks, which serve as the dam's walls, were hand placed during the dam's original construction in 1938. The dam was modified in 1957 and 1958 to provide for increased security. The dam and the reservoir it creates, the Waterbury Reservoir, are located in the town of Waterbury in northwestern Washington County.

Waterbury Center State Park is a 90-acre day-use state park on the 850-acre Waterbury Reservoir in Waterbury Center, Vermont. It is located in Mount Mansfield State Forest. It was created in 1986.Activities includes swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, picnicking, bicycling, wildlife watching, and winter sports.Facilities include a swimming beach, picnic areas and grills, boat rentals, a trailer boat ramp, concession area and restrooms. There is a universally-accessible trail that includes two accessible fishing platforms. Little River State Park is a campground park also located nearby on Waterbury Reservoir.

Activities includes swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, picnicking, bicycling, wildlife watching, and winter sports.Facilities include 81 tent/trailer sites, 20 lean-tos, five cabins, restrooms with hot showers, and a dump station. Campers can enjoy swimming beaches, play areas, a boat launch, ball field, and boat rentals. There is a nature center, and park Interpreters offer programs including night hikes, campfire programs, amphibian explorations, and nature crafts and games. Waterbury Center State Park is a day-use park also located nearby on Waterbury Reservoir.

Waterbury Center is an unincorporated village and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Waterbury, Washington County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 390.The CDP is in northwestern Washington County, east of the geographic center of the town of Waterbury, 3.5 miles (5.6 km) north of the main village of Waterbury. Vermont Route 100 runs through the west side of Waterbury Center, leading south to Interstate 89 at Waterbury village and north 6 miles (10 km) to Stowe. The community is bordered to the west by Waterbury Center State Park, on the east arm of Waterbury Reservoir, an impoundment on the Little River, which flows south to the Winooski River west of Waterbury village.
