Occoquan Reservoir

Rockledge, is a historic home located at Occoquan, Prince William County, Virginia, United States, near Washington D.C. It was built in 1758 from stone at the request of John Balladine, a wealthy local industrialist. Architect William Buckland worked on this house.The historic marker on the site reads: John Ballendine built this finely proportioned Georgian House, "Rockledge," in c.1760. William Buckland, a premier colonial Chesapeake architect, reportedly designed it. "Rockledge" is a rare example of a Tidewater Virginia stone dwelling. Several entrepreneurs who sought to maximize Occoquan's potential as a port and industrial town resided there. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Odd Fellows Hall is a former meeting hall of the Crescent Lodge No. 3 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. It is located on Commerce Street in Occoquan, Virginia. The Hall was erected in 1889 by volunteer Lodge members and a paid carpenter. The first floor of the Hall has been continuously used as a public meeting room and theater. The Odd Fellows reserved the second floor for their meetings. The Masons, American Legion, church congregations and other groups have met in the Hall over the years.

Occoquan Historic District is a national historic district located at Occoquan, Prince William County, Virginia. It encompasses 60 contributing buildings in the town of Occoquan. The buildings are predominantly frame, two-story, residential structures although the earliest examples are constructed of stone or brick. The Ellicott's Mill House (c. 1760) houses Historic Occoquan, Inc. The district also includes several notable non-residential buildings including the Hammill Hotel (c. 1830), Ebenezer Church (1853), Methodist Church (1926), and Crescent Lodge #3 (1889). Located in the district is the separately listed Rockledge.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Occoquan () is a town in Prince William County, Virginia. The population was 934 at the 2010 United States Census. The current mayor is Earnest W. Porta Jr.

The Lorton Reformatory, also known as the Lorton Correctional Complex, is a former prison complex in Lorton, Virginia, established in 1910 for the District of Columbia, United States. The complex began as a prison farm called the Occoquan Workhouse for nonviolent offenders serving short sentences. The District established an adjacent reformatory in 1914, and then a 10-acre (4.0 ha) walled penitentiary constructed by inmates from 1931 through 1938, as a division of the reformatory with heightened security. The complex came under the administration of the District of Columbia Department of Corrections when it was formed in 1946. After further expansions, a peak size of 3,500-acre (1,400 ha), and 92 years of service, the facility was ordered closed in the late 1990s. The final prisoners were transferred out in November 2001.Lorton was also the site of a bunker used by the government from 1959 to 2001 that housed emergency communications equipment to be used in the event of a war with the Soviet Union. Lorton Reformatory also hosted Nike missile site W-64.

The Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Virginia is a vibrant, 55-acre center for the arts and arts education that, through adaptive reuse, utilizes existing structures on repurposed land in the former Lorton Reformatory. A strong community partner with a growing national reputation, the Workhouse hosts celebrations, offers space for special events, and showcases Fairfax County's commitment to the arts. The Workhouse is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and relies on the generosity of WAC partners and community. Once surrounded by barbed wire fence, the Workhouse Arts Center now shares the glory of artistic expression and is open to all. Artists rent studio space, actors perform on the stage, students of all ages take classes from dance to blacksmithing on a beautiful arcaded campus built on the same Jeffersonian plan of linked pavilions as found on the main grounds of the University of Virginia. The annual Fourth of July fireworks festival, Brewfest, and the Halloween “Haunt” are community favorites. The most recent addition is the Lucy Burns Museum, which tells the 91-year history of the District of Columbia's Correctional Facility and honors the suffragists who were imprisoned there in 1917 during the struggle to secure the vote for women.

The Turning Point Suffragist Memorial is a monument to American suffragists. The memorial is located in Lorton, Virginia's Occoquan Regional Park and stands in close proximity to Occoquan Workhouse, a prison where 168 suffragists were once held during the 1910s Silent Sentinels demonstrations. The memorial opened in May of 2021.

Occoquan Regional Park is a regional park along a tributary of the Potomac River, located in Lorton in Fairfax County, Northern Virginia. It is protected and operated by the NOVA Parks agency of Northern Virginia.

Agnewville also known as Smoketown or Chinntown is an extinct unincorporated community in Prince William County, Virginia, United States. Agnewville lies to the west of the town of Occoquan at the intersection of Minnieville (formerly Davis Ford) and Telegraph Roads. It has also been known as Agnesville and Chinn Town.Agnewville ran along Minnieville Road from Old Bridge Road to the old Horner Road (near the current Caton Hill Road). Agnewville flourished from 1890 to 1927.

Lake Ridge is a census-designated place (CDP) in Prince William County, Virginia, United States. It is an annex of Woodbridge, Virginia. The population was 41,058 at the 2010 census, an increase of 35% from 2000.

Laurel Hill is a census-designated place in Fairfax County, Virginia, United States. The population as of the 2010 census was 6,855. Formerly part of the Lorton CDP, it comprises most of what was formerly the Lorton Reformatory grounds, which were purchased by Fairfax County in 2002 following the prison's closing and redeveloped as a new suburban community. The name "Laurel Hill" was adopted from Laurel Hill House, an 18th-century structure which had served as the residence of the Superintendent of the Reformatory, and originally was the home of Revolutionary War patriot William Lindsay.
