Occoquan Reservoir is a 2,100-acre (850 ha) reservoir in northeast Virginia, southwest of Washington, D.C., straddling part of the boundary between Fairfax County and Prince William County, west of Alexandria. It is formed by the Occoquan Dam on the Occoquan River . Managed by the Fairfax County Water Authority, it provides an important water supply to surrounding settlements in northern Virginia, with an output of 17 million US gallons a day (64,000 m3/d) to 1.2 million people, including over half of the population of Prince William County. The Occoquan Reservoir is officially under Prince William County, despite being on the border with Fairfax County. The major drainages tributary to the Occoquan Reservoir can be divided into two principal sub-basins: Bull Run and Occoquan Creek.Despite being a major fresh water source, Occoquan Reservoir is listed on Virginia's Dirty Water List, with recorded high levels of phosphorus, turbidity, low dissolved oxygen, the presence of copper sulfate and the growing presence of pharmaceuticals, largely due to human land uses, population pressure and poor management. In 1968, the Virginia State Water Control Board (SWCB) commissioned a study of the Occoquan Reservoir and its tributary streams to draw up a plan of sustainable management for the reservoir. A 1970 analysis stated that the reservoir was "highly eutrophic...", and further, that "the sewage plant effluents are mainly responsible for the advanced stage of eutrophication occurring...". As a result, in 1971, A Policy for Waste Treatment and Water Quality Management in the Occoquan Watershed was approved by the SWCB.

Potomac Mills is a shopping mall located in Dale City, Virginia, in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. The first mall developed by the Mills Corporation, it was acquired in 2007 by Simon Property Group. Simon claims it to be the largest outlet mall in Virginia. It has also been claimed to be the top tourist attraction in Virginia, but the commonwealth tourism board ranked it as tenth in 2004.

Rockledge, is a historic home located at Occoquan, Prince William County, Virginia, United States, near Washington D.C. It was built in 1758 from stone at the request of John Balladine, a wealthy local industrialist. Architect William Buckland worked on this house.The historic marker on the site reads: John Ballendine built this finely proportioned Georgian House, "Rockledge," in c.1760. William Buckland, a premier colonial Chesapeake architect, reportedly designed it. "Rockledge" is a rare example of a Tidewater Virginia stone dwelling. Several entrepreneurs who sought to maximize Occoquan's potential as a port and industrial town resided there. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Odd Fellows Hall is a former meeting hall of the Crescent Lodge No. 3 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. It is located on Commerce Street in Occoquan, Virginia. The Hall was erected in 1889 by volunteer Lodge members and a paid carpenter. The first floor of the Hall has been continuously used as a public meeting room and theater. The Odd Fellows reserved the second floor for their meetings. The Masons, American Legion, church congregations and other groups have met in the Hall over the years.

Occoquan Historic District is a national historic district located at Occoquan, Prince William County, Virginia. It encompasses 60 contributing buildings in the town of Occoquan. The buildings are predominantly frame, two-story, residential structures although the earliest examples are constructed of stone or brick. The Ellicott's Mill House (c. 1760) houses Historic Occoquan, Inc. The district also includes several notable non-residential buildings including the Hammill Hotel (c. 1830), Ebenezer Church (1853), Methodist Church (1926), and Crescent Lodge #3 (1889). Located in the district is the separately listed Rockledge.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Lake Ridge is a census-designated place (CDP) in Prince William County, Virginia, United States. It is an annex of Woodbridge, Virginia. The population was 41,058 at the 2010 census, an increase of 35% from 2000.

Russell House and Store is a 19th-century historic building in Dale City, Virginia. A historical marker was erected at the house by the Hechinger Company in 1992, on behalf of the Prince William County Historical Commission.
