Wilhelminaplein is an underground subway station in Rotterdam, Netherlands, which lies south of the Maas river. It is part of Rotterdam Metro lines D and E. Wilhelminaplein station was opened in 1997 as a new infill station of the North-South Line, which itself was already opened in 1968. Because the station was constructed at the location where the metro tunnel is going up on its way to the surface, the platforms, like the rest of the station, are not entirely horizontal. Near the main entrance of the station, a Rotterdam tram stop is located, allowing interchange with RET-operated tram lines 20, 23 and 25. A connection to RET-bus line 60 towards the Wilhelminakade is also available. An entrance was opened in 2005 for visitors to the Nieuwe Luxor Theater, which leads passengers directly to the other side of the busy intersection of Wilhelminaplein and Posthumalaan by moving walkways.

Kop van Zuid is a neighborhood of Rotterdam, The Netherlands, located on the south bank of the Nieuwe Maas opposite the center of town. The district is relatively young and includes the Wilhelmina Pier as well as the V bounded by the Rose Street and railway line on one side and the Rotterdam-Dordrecht Hilledijk, Hill Street and Rijnhaven on the other. The Kop van Zuid is built on old, abandoned port areas around the Binnenhaven, Entrepothaven, Spoorweghaven, Rijnhaven and the Wilhelmina Pier. These port sites and the Nieuwe Maas made for a large physical distance between the center and north of the Maas and southern Rotterdam. By converting this area into an urban area, and providing better infrastructure, planners sought to unite the northern and southern parts of the city.

The Poortgebouw is a national monument located at Stieltjesstraat 38 in the Kop van Zuid area of Rotterdam, the Netherlands. It was built beside the River Maas in 1879 and experienced a range of uses until it was squatted October 3, 1980. It had been standing empty for 2 years and was squatted as a protest intended to highlight the lack of affordable residential housing in Rotterdam.

KPN Tower is a 96.5 metre tall office building in Rotterdam (a city in the Netherlands). It was designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano and construction began in 1998. The building was officially opened by its owner KPN on September 28, 2000. The concept and design of the motion graphic light installation is from Studio Dumbar.

The Netherlands Photo Museum (Dutch: Nederlands Fotomuseum) (NFM) is a photography museum in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, that was founded in 1989.The museum collection consists of many historical, social and cultural images from the 20th and 21st century, from the Netherlands and elsewhere. It has control over more than 150 archives (three million plus images) taken by Dutch photographers. The archives are stored in climate controlled film storage facilities. It is located at the Wilhelminakade in the previous Holland America Line workshop building, also known as the Las Palmas building. The Netherlands Photo Museum was founded under the name Nederlands Foto Archief. and was subsidised by the Dutch government. In 2003, it was reborn, through an endowment from Hein Wertheimer, a wealthy Dutch lawyer, and renamed to Nederlands Fotomuseum. Visitors to the NFM may browse the museum’s library of 120000 digital images, watch short films or participate in educational activities. The museum has large exhibition rooms and a rotating display of Dutch history. Noordereiland is a neighborhood of Rotterdam, Netherlands. The Noordereiland owes its name to the Noorderhaven (nowadays Koningshaven) which, under the leadership of C.B. van der Tak was dug between 1872 and 1874. By digging the Noorderhaven, the Noordereiland was separated from the former island of Fijenoord and is now an island between the central parts of the North and South side of the city. Until the end of the 20th century the island was inhabited by a large population of inland skippers. Part of the neighborhood is a protected cityscape. During the German bombings in May 1940, the Noordereiland was much better preserved than other parts of the city, because the Noordereiland was spared by the Luftwaffe, as the Germans had entrenched themselves there. However, more than 600 houses on the tips of the Noordereiland were destroyed by a number of English bombardments, which were intended to chase the Germans away. One of the affected points, the old Prinsenhoofd, was partly excavated in 1961 to form a trench at a depth of 20 meters in the riverbed of the Nieuwe Maas during the construction of the Rotterdam Metro. The green strip at Meeuwenstraat now bears the name Prinsenhoofd.

Rijnhaven is an above-ground subway station in the south of the city of Rotterdam. It is part of Rotterdam Metro lines D and E. The station opened on 9 February 1968, the same date that the North-South Line (also formerly called Erasmus line), of which it is a part, was opened. Near the station, travelers can get on RET-operated bus line 77 which can bring them to the SS Rotterdam.

New Orleans is a 44-storey, 158.3 m (519 ft) residential skyscraper in Rotterdam, Netherlands, designed by Álvaro Siza Vieira. It is currently the tallest residential building (and second tallest building overall) in the Netherlands. Erasmusbrug (English: "Erasmus Bridge") is a combined cable-stayed and bascule bridge, construction began in 1986 and was completed in 1996. It crosses the Nieuwe Maas in the centre of Rotterdam, connecting the north and south parts of this city, second largest in the Netherlands. The bridge was named in 1992 after Desiderius Erasmus, a prominent Christian Renaissance humanist also known as Erasmus of Rotterdam. The Erasmus Bridge is Rotterdam's most important landmark and is even part of the city's official logo.

The Martyrs of Gorcum Church -known as the Stieltjeskerk, was a Roman Catholic church in Rotterdam. Rotterdam and its harbor underwent a tremendous growth in the second half of the 19th century. The district of Feijenoord was originally built on the south bank of the Meuse (Maas). A significant part of the new inhabitants were Catholics from the provinces of North Brabant and Zeeland. Ahead of them between 1875 and 1876 on Roentgenstraat a wooden church was built by the pastor Ludovicus Gompertz. Between 1885 and 1886 on Stieltjes Square a stone church built. The architect John Kayser designed a three-aisled cruciform church in neo-Gothic style, with a tower on the front. The church was dedicated to the martyrs of Gorcum. On July 12, 1886, the church was consecrated. After the second world war, the number of parishioners fell sharply. The Martyrs of Gorcum Church was finally merged into the Holy Trinity parish. The Stieltjeskerk was closed and demolished in 1976. In this place is now a retirement home. The two doors of the entrance and several stained-glass windows are preserved at the Museum Rotterdam.

De Hef (lit. 'the lift'), officially Koningshaven Bridge, is a vertical-lift bridge over the Koningshaven (Kings Harbor) channel at the port of Rotterdam, Netherlands. Built in 1927, the bridge was part of the Breda–Rotterdam railway line until it was decommissioned in 1993. Today, it is a Rijksmonument heritage site.

The Rotterdam Cruise Terminal is a building on the Wilhelmina Pier, Rotterdam. The Cruise Terminal served as the arrival and departure point of Holland America Line and is considered part of the city’s social and industrial heritage. The Cruise Terminal is still used by large passenger vessels that visit Rotterdam. The Terminal is now known for its cafe/restaurant located inside with a hall of 3,800 square metres (41,000 sq ft). The "Turquoise Carpet" event for the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 took place at the Terminal on 16 May 2021. The Terminal was due to host the "Golden Carpet" and Opening Ceremony events for the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 before its cancellation.
