County of Zweibrücken

The Duchy of Palatinate-Zweibrücken (German: Herzogtum Pfalz-Zweibrücken; French: Duché de Palatinat-Zweibrücken) was a duchy of the Holy Roman Empire with full voting rights to the Reichstag. Its capital was Zweibrücken. The reigning house, a branch of the Wittelsbach dynasty, was also the Royal House of Sweden from 1654 to 1720.

Zweibrücken (German pronunciation: [ˈtsvaɪˌbʁʏkŋ̍] ; French: and thus historical English exonym "Deux-Ponts" , French pronunciation: [dø pɔ̃]; Palatinate German: Zweebrigge, IPA: [ˈtsʋeːbʁɪgə]; literally translated as "Two Bridges") is a town in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, on the Schwarzbach river.

The Bibliotheca Bipontina is a regional scientific library in Zweibrücken, which has been part of the Landesbibliothekszentrum Rheinland-Pfalz since 1 September 2004. It is one of the most important Altbestand libraries in the land.The book stock amounts to about 120,600 volumes as of 2012, including 12,000 volumes of the museum's old stock from the princely libraries of the dukes of Zweibrück. It also holds the libraries of the Association for Palatine Church History (about 20,000 volumes) and the Zweibrücken Historical Association (about 10,000 volumes). The main focus of the holdings is on regional literature of the Palatinate and on humanities subjects. The founding collection of the Bibliotheca Bipontina was included in the Länderverzeichnis national wertvollen Kulturgutes in 2015.

Zweibrücken Castle (German: Schloss Zweibrücken) is a building in the town of Zweibrücken, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. It was built as a ducal palace in 1720–1725. It is the largest and most magnificent secular (i.e. non-religious) building in the Palatinate. It is now the seat of the Palatine Higher Regional Court, and of the Zweibrücken law courts.

The Palatine Higher Regional Court in Zweibrücken (Pfälzisches Oberlandesgericht Zweibrücken) is one of two Higher Regional Courts in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, along with the Higher Regional Court in Koblenz.

The Karlskirche is a church in Zweibrücken built in 1715, destroyed in 1945, rebuilt in 1970. It is one of two landmarks of the town with Alexander's Church (Alexanderskirche, built 1493–1514). It was court church from 1733 to 1858. Its congregation forms part of today's United Evangelical Church of the Palatinate.

Zweibrücken-Land is a Verbandsgemeinde ("collective municipality") in the Südwestpfalz district, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is situated on the southwestern edge of the Palatinate forest, around Zweibrücken. The seat of the municipality is in Zweibrücken, itself not part of the municipality. The Verbandsgemeinde Zweibrücken-Land consists of the following Ortsgemeinden ("local municipalities"):

Zweibrücken Hauptbahnhof is a through station with two platforms and three platform tracks in the city of Zweibrücken in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It is located not far from the city centre, on the single-track, non-electrified, Queich Valley Railway, over which Regionalbahn trains operate between Saarbrücken Hauptbahnhof and Pirmasens Hauptbahnhof. It also connects with Landau, although this requires a change of trains at Pirmasens Nord.

Zweibrücken Observatory (German: Volkssternwarte Zweibrücken), or the Zweibrück Observatory of the Natural Science Association, is a public observatory in Zweibrücken, Germany. Its dome was painted to resemble the Star Wars character R2-D2 in 2018.

The Paratrooper Battalion 263 (Fallschirmjägerbataillon 263) was one of the three combat battalions of the German Army's Airborne Brigade 26, which is a part of the Special Operations Division. Paratrooper Battalion 263 was fully airmobile and could act both as air assault infantry or could be dropped by parachute into the area of operations.

Bickenalb is a river of Moselle, France and Saarland, Germany. It flows into the Horn near Zweibrücken. Its course within France is 10.3 km (6.4 mi) long.

Tschifflik (Bulgarian: чифлик; Turkish: Çiftlik)– is a Lustschloss summer residence in Zweibrücken, constructed in 1715–1716 by exiled Polish King Stanisław Leszczyński according to a design by Jonas Erikson Sundahl. Tschifflik is an outstanding example of Baroque Landscape architecture. After being exiled from Poland, Leszczyński became the Count Palatine of Zweibrücken as a Prince exercising the head of state's authority on behalf of Charles XII in 1714. He continued in that role until 1719, a year after the Swedish monarch's death. It is most commonly referred to as the Fasanerie by locals, the German term for the Pheasantry. The name refers to Duke Christian IV. After Stanislaus resettled in Nancy, France, many of the wooden buildings were cleared away. Duke Christian IV of Zweibrücken created a large pheasant garden in their place.
