Lake Harney

The Lake Proctor Wilderness Area is a 475-acre (1.92 km2) wooded site located in east Seminole County, Florida, United States, near the town of Geneva and to the west of Lake Harney. It can be found by taking State Road 46 east from Sanford, Florida and following it to the entrance on the left (north) side of SR 46 approximately 1-mile (1.6 km) east of the intersection with CR 426. The area includes a loop-type trail that is approximately 6 miles (9.7 km) in length. Habitats such as sand pine scrub, pine flatwoods, sandhill and bayhead swamp are highlighted in the area. Wildlife observed on this site includes the wood duck, white-tailed deer, red fox and Florida worm lizard. Benches are provided at several locations. This site's variety of habitats and beautiful trail system make it a popular destination for local equestrians, mountain bikers, hikers, boy scout troops and other outdoor enthusiasts.

Geneva is a community, census-designated place and unincorporated area in Seminole County, Florida, United States, with zip code 32732. The population was 2,913 at the 2020 Census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. Geneva is the home of the Little-Big Econ State Forest, home of the big and little Econlockhatchee Rivers.

The Econlockhatchee River (Econ River for short) is an 54.5-mile-long (87.7 km) north-flowing blackwater tributary of the St. Johns River. The Econ River flows through Osceola, Orange, and Seminole counties in Central Florida, just east of the Orlando Metropolitan Area (east of State Road 417). It is a designated Outstanding Florida Waters.The origin of the river's name is not known definitively. In 1839 the spelling was recorded as “Econ-like Hatchee”. It is theorized that this represents a Muscogee name meaning “earth-mound stream”, with “econ-like” coming from ēkvnv (/iːkaná/), ‘earth, land’, and like (/léyki/), ‘sitting’, plus hvcce (/háčči/), ‘stream’.The river flows north from its source, Lake Conlin, through the Econlockhatchee River Swamp (see below) south of State Road 528. Near the City of Oviedo, the tributary Little Econlockhatchee River joins, and the river turns east as it flows through the Little Big Econ State Forest. The Econlockhatchee joins the St. Johns River near Puzzle Lake. The river's floodplain is forested for its entire length.

Pennichaw is a rural unincorporated community located in south Volusia County, Florida, United States. It located on Lake Harney Road, approximately 1.8 miles south of Maytown Road.

The Little Big Econ State Forest is a state forest in the U.S. state of Florida. The 5,048 acres (20.43 km2) forest is located in Central Florida, 3.3 miles (5.3 km) east of the downtown Oviedo, on Florida Country Road 426 with forest office on Snow Hill Road in Geneva, Florida. The Kilbee Tract is a smaller non-contiguous section of the park located east of the main forest, along Saint Johns River, the longest river in the state.The forest's most notable feature is the Econlockhatchee River, an Outstanding Florida Water, that winds east-to-west inside the forest. The protected area of Florida is open for picnicking, bird watching, fishing, hunting, hiking, horseback and mountain bike riding.

It was acquired as part of a comprehensive effort to preserve significant habitat along the shores of Lake Jesup. This particular area also helps protect important recharge areas for the Geneva Bubble (local aquifer). Additionally, the wetland habitats of this property filter water on its way to Lake JesupThe wilderness area includes a round-trip hike of approximately 4.5 miles (7.2 km) of trails, through habitats such as mixed hardwood swamp, sand pine scrub and pine flatwoods. Wildlife observed in the wilderness area includes the barred owl, white-tailed deer, bobcat and eastern hognose snake. The includes a boardwalk and trail system designed for local equestrians, mountain bikers, hikers, photographers and other outdoor enthusiasts. The main parking area for the Black Hammock Wilderness Area is on CR 426, at the Barr Street entrance of the Little Big Econ State Forest in Geneva, Florida.

Black Hammock is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Seminole County, Florida, United States on the southern shore of Lake Jesup. Its population was 1,144 as of the 2010 census.

Taintsville is an unincorporated community in Seminole County, Florida, United States, located between Oviedo and Chuluota. On December 14, 1971, it was formally designated as the Village of Taintsville by Seminole County. The population is about 80 people.The community's name was derived by residents saying "t ain't" Oviedo and "t ain't" Chuluota.
