The Plowright Theatre, is a live entertainment venue on Laneham Street in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire. It is owned and run by North Lincolnshire Council. It is the Sister Venue to the Baths Hall located on Doncaster Road in Scunthorpe. The Plowright Theatre was commissioned by the former Scunthorpe Borough Council and built by J. W. Taylor in 1958. It is a traditional proscenium style theatre with a 354 seat auditorium. Originally known as Scunthorpe Civic Theatre it was renamed in the 1990s in recognition of the achievements of local actress Joan Plowright. Plowright was born in Brigg, educated in Scunthorpe, and is currently the President of Scunthorpe Little Theatre Club. The club was founded by her father, Bill Plowright, and staged the theatre's first performance, Peer Gynt, in 1958.

The Pods is a leisure centre in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, England. The leisure centre offers a wide range of modern facilities, including two swimming pools, a gym, a café and a Sports Hall. The leisure centre is located in the town's Central Park near Ashby Road.The Pods is reported to be built the highest environmental standards and is aiming for a ‘excellent' BREAAM environmental rating. It has grey water recycling, a bio-mass boiler, and the roof is partly covered with the sedum plants. Hexagonal panels and panes of glass have been used to create the building's dome shaped roofs, which is of a similar style to Cornwall's Eden Project. North Lincolnshire have provided a large pond and car park built next to the leisure centre. The park and children's play areas around The Pods have also been refurbished in a two million pound restoration, completed in January 2011. Around it there is a park and tennis courts.

The building served as the headquarters of Scunthorpe Municipal Borough Council and later of North Lincolnshire Council, but is now used as a university campus. It is a Grade II listed building.

Scunthorpe and Appleby Frodingham Works Cricket Club Ground is a cricket ground in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1925 when Lincolnshire first played at the ground in the Minor Counties Championship against the Nottinghamshire Second XI. From 1925, the ground hosted 49 Minor Counties Championship matches, the last of which came against Staffordshire. In addition, the ground has also hosted a single MCCA Knockout Trophy match, which came in 1987 when Lincolnshire played Durham.The ground also held a single List-A match in 1975, when Minor Counties North played Yorkshire in the Benson and Hedges Cup.In local domestic cricket, the ground is the home of Appleby Frodingham Cricket Club who play in the Yorkshire ECB County Premier League. The cricket club is part of a larger body called the Appleby-Frodingham Works Athletic Club, which is associated with Corus Group and was originally created by Appleby-Frodingham Steel Company.

Frodingham is a historic hamlet and now a suburb of Scunthorpe in the borough of North Lincolnshire, in Lincolnshire, England. The village lay directly to the south of Scunthorpe town centre, the name Frodingham is now often used to refer to the area directly to the north of the town centre. Frodingham parish originally included the townships of Frodingham, Scunthorpe, Brumby, Crosby (part) and Gunness (part). The townships became civil parishes in 1866. In 1894 Brumby & Frodingham Urban District Council (UDC) was formed, separate from neighbouring Scunthorpe UDC. Brumby & Frodingham UDC was amalgamated with Scunthorpe in 1919.St Lawrence's church was the centre of the original hamlet of Frodingham. Frodingham township and civil parish, sandwiched between Scunthorpe to the north and Brumby to the south, was 5 miles long and 1/4 mile wide. It ran from the Trent in the west, across the Lincoln Cliff, through the hamlet itself and across to Bottesford Beck in the east. It was here in the east end of the township that large deposits of ironstone began to be exploited in the mid 19th century: the Frodingham, North Lincolnshire and Redbourn Hill ironworks were established, and workers' cottages were built either side of Rowland Road, in an area then known as New Frodingham.In modern times, the name Frodingham is now used to refer to the area around Frodingham Road in Crosby, and online maps reflect this usage.The Trent, Ancholme and Grimsby Railway ran through the township, and the railway station was next to the Frodingham ironworks. The first Frodingham railway station was opened in 1866; the second station was opened in 1886, and closed in 1926.In 1912, the Frodingham Ironworks was taken over by the Appleby Ironworks to form the Appleby-Frodingham Steel Company. The North Lincolnshire Museum is in the former village vicarage, built in 1874 on the site of Frodingham Hall. Frodingham Grade I listed Anglican church is dedicated to St Lawrence. Originating from the 12th century, it was rebuilt in 1841 except for the Early English-style tower. In 1916 Cox recorded a Carolean altar table, dated 1635. It contains memorials to the Healy family who added several windows within the church.The vicar of Frodingham from 1655 to 1660 was John Ryther (c1638-1681). At the Restoration he was deprived of his living here and moved to Brough and was deprived again in 1662. After setting up Kipping Chapel near Bradford and some time in prison, he moved to London and began one of the first missions amongst seamen at Wapping in 1669. Due to his emotional preaching style, he was often known as 'Crying Jeremy.'In 1885 Kelly's Directory reported a large temperance hall, built in 1871, that also housed a library and newspaper reading room. Chief crops grown in the area were wheat, barley and potatoes.

It opened in September 2015 as Humber UTC and caters for students aged 13 to 19 (year 9 to year 13).The school's site is in Scunthorpe town centre. Industry partners include the University of Hull, Phillips 66, Tronox, ABP Humber, Orsted, RAF, Airco, STEM UK, North Lincolnshire Council and others.The school was rebranded from Humber UTC to Engineering UTC Northern Lincolnshire in early 2018.The school extended its provision to include a year 9 cohort in November 2018, after approval from the Department for Education (DfE).
