Melbourne Airport

Emirates Flight 407 was a scheduled international passenger flight operated by Emirates from Auckland to Dubai with a stopover in Melbourne, operated by an Airbus A340-500 aircraft. On 20 March 2009, the flight failed to take off properly at Melbourne Airport, hitting several structures at the end of the runway before climbing and then returning to the airport for a safe landing. Although no fatalities or injuries resulted, damage to the aircraft was severe enough for the event to be classified by Australian Transport Safety Bureau as an "accident". It was subsequently determined that a data-entry error resulted in insufficient engine thrust during take off. It has been described "as close as we have ever come to a major aviation catastrophe in Australia" by aviation officials.

Melbourne Airport recorded a population of 64 at the 2021 census.The suburb is the location of Melbourne Airport and the Tullamarine Country Club. Since 2013, it has been home to The Hangar (previously the True Value Solar Centre), which is the training and administrative base for the Essendon Football Club and the Victorian arm of the Australian Paralympic Committee.

The Hangar, also known for commercial reasons as The NEC Hangar, is the training facility and headquarters of Australian rules football club the Essendon Bombers. It is located in the north-west Melbourne suburb of Melbourne Airport and was opened in 2013.

The Keilor archaeological site was among the first places to demonstrate the antiquity of Aboriginal occupation of Australia when a cranium, unearthed in 1940, was found to be nearly 15,000 years old. Subsequent investigations of Pleistocene alluvial terraces revealed hearths about 31,000 years BP, making Keilor one of the earliest sites of human habitation in Australia. Remains of megafauna suggest a possible association with Aboriginal hunting.

Overnewton Anglican Community College (more commonly known as 'OACC', or simply Overnewton) is an independent, co-educational, day school, founded in 1987. Prep to Year 4 (commonly known within the College as the Junior School) and Year 9 is only available at the Canowindra Campus; and the Year 5 to Year 8 (known as the Middle School) and Year 10 to 12 (known as the Senior School) are only available at the Yirramboi Campus in Keilor. Students at the school are encouraged to become involved in a range of co-curricular activities that complement the academic program. Christian education is a core subject at all levels. Families are encouraged to take part in a Contribution Scheme, whereby they contribute 18 hours of service to the College each school term. The school has participated for many years in the Rock Eisteddfod Challenge in both the junior, premier and RAW divisions.

Keilor Stadium is an Australian indoor arena that caters to both basketball and netball. It is located in Keilor Park, a north-western suburb of Melbourne, Victoria. From 1987 until 1990, the stadium was the home of National Basketball League team the Westside Melbourne Saints. In 2015, a AU$6.5 million refurbishment of the almost 30 year old stadium was completed with 3 extra courts being built. The new courts were officially opened on 7 December.

Keilor is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 16 km (9.9 mi) north-west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Cities of Brimbank and Hume local government areas. Keilor recorded a population of 5,906 at the 2021 census.Whilst most of the suburb is contained within the City of Brimbank, the northern section of Keilor, north of the Calder Freeway, is within the City of Hume. This section of the suburb is located on the flood plain of the Maribyrnong River, and is home to many market gardens. The suburb is mainly residential with large industrial developments in adjacent suburbs. There are several shopping centres in the area including Keilor Shopping Centre and Watergardens Town Centre approximately 5 km away.

Keilor Botanic Gardens, located in Melbourne's north-west in the suburb of Keilor Park, is entirely devoted to Australian native flora. Created in 1982, it covers 10 hectares. It is managed by the City of Brimbank as part of Keilor Park Reserve and Botanic Gardens.

Tullamarine is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 14 km (8.7 mi) north-west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Cities of Brimbank, Hume and Merri-bek local government areas. Tullamarine recorded a population of 6,733 at the 2021 census.The suburb is a collection of recent housing estates and light industry. Generally flat and exposed to the hot northerly winds of Melbourne's summer, as well as cold southerly winds in winter, its most notable feature is the nearby Melbourne Airport. Tullamarine's residential area is contained in a circular loop of the Moonee Ponds Creek, and its western boundary is the Melbourne Airport. Tullamarine contains the smaller residential area of Gladstone Park. The Albion-Jacana railway line separates Tullamarine from Airport West to the south.
