Jelenja Vas (pronounced [jɛˈleːnja ˈʋaːs]; Slovene: Jelenja vas, in older sources Jelena vas, formerly also Iskrba,: 246  German: Hirisgruben or Hirschgruben, Gottscheerish: Hirisgruəbə) is a hamlet of the village of Štalcerji in the Municipality of Kočevje in southern Slovenia.: 246  Formerly, it was an independent settlement. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region.

Štalcerji (pronounced [ˈʃtaːlcɛɾji] or [ˈʃtaːu̯cɛɾji]; previously also Štalcarji, German: Stalzern) is a settlement in the hills south of the town of Kočevje in southern Slovenia. It was a village inhabited partly by Gottschee Germans. In 1941 at the start of the Second World War its original population was expelled. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region. It includes the hamlet of Jelenja Vas.The local church, dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua, is mentioned in written documents dating to 1526. During the Second World War it was damaged and after the war the ruins were demolished and removed.

The village stretches along the road connecting Kočevje and Petrina, near the turn to Mozelj. It has a pronounced outline. The Rinža River flows through the village; it often goes dry in the summer but floods during heavy rains. There are many karst caves in the area. The Stojna Ridge and Dry Hill (Slovene: Suhi hrib) rise to the west, and the karstified Šahen lowland lies to the east.: 101

The Rinža (German: Rinse, Rinnse) is a river of Slovenia. It is 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) long and flows through Kočevje. It is the main watercourse of the Kočevje Polje and it is a losing stream. A few kilometers downstream of Kočevje, it goes subterranean. It emerges again as the Bilpa, a tributary of the Kolpa (Kupa).
