Ailby

Greenfield Priory was a Cistercian priory in Greenfield, near Aby, Lincolnshire, England. It was founded before the year 1153 by Eudo of Grainsby and Ralf of Aby, and his son, Ranulf earl of Chester was also a benefactor of the house. The bishop visited the priory in 1294 and asked the prioress to resign. Her successor, Cecily de Parys, was not much better, for in 1303 Bishop Dalderby heard that she had been absent from her house for two years, and that it was in danger of serious loss. She resigned in 1305. A moat, which is nearly complete and mainly water filled, is believed to have surrounded the priory remains, and traces of other earthworks are visible on air photographs.

Tothby is a hamlet less than 1 mile (1.6 km) north from the town of Alford, in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. In the 1086 Domesday Book Tothby is listed as "Touedebi", consisting of three households, 20 acres (0.1 km2) of meadow and 12 acres (0.05 km2) of woodland. Today Tothby considered a deserted medieval village, and the only extant property is Tothby Manor House, a Grade II listed building dating from the mid-17th century with alterations around 1840. Built of red brick, the house stands behind a moated enclosure, the site of the early Tothby Manor, home of the founder of the 14th-century church of St Wilfrid, Alford. The Manor was bought by Sir Robert Christopher in the mid-17th century when the present farmhouse was first built.

Aby with Greenfield is a civil parish in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 Census was 196. It consists of the villages of Aby and Greenfield. The parish is situated approximately 7 miles (11 km) south-east from Louth.

Alford Windmill is a five-sailed windmill in Alford, Lincolnshire and the only surviving windmill out of four. Though the windmill has been restored to working order, it no longer supplies flour for sale.

Royal Air Force Strubby or more simply RAF Strubby is a former Royal Air Force station 2.9 miles (4.7 km) north of Alford, Lincolnshire, and 8.6 miles (13.8 km) south east of Louth, Lincolnshire, England.

Saleby is a village in the civil parish of Beesby with Saleby, in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is on the Alford road to Louth, about 2 miles (3 km) north-east of Alford and 11 miles (18 km) south-east of Louth. The hamlet of Thoresthorpe is about 1 mile (1.6 km) south of the village. The Domesday book records "Saleby", with Lord of the Manor as Guy de Craon. The Church of England parish church of St Margaret was rebuilt in 1850 buff brick to the designs of Stephen Lewin, and was further restored in 1958. St Margaret's is a Grade II listed building. In the chancel is a recess containing a full-length effigy of a knight in chain mail and surcoat, a memorial to Sir William de Hardreshull who died in 1303. In the chancel floor is a brass with the inscription: "to John Haryinton of Wickham, in the county of Lincoln, who built this chapel, 1592, being lord and patron of Salebie and lieth in st Sepulchres church, London and died 12th May 1599". At the east end of the chancel is the datestone of the old chapel bearing the Haryinton Arms and dated 1591. The base and shaft of a stone churchyard cross are in the churchyard. A National School was built in the village in 1845; it appears to have closed in 1932.

Aby ( AY-bee) is a village in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is approximately 30 miles (48 km) east from the city and county town of Lincoln and 8 miles (13 km) south-east from Louth. Aby is part of the civil parish of Aby with Greenfield .

Claythorpe is a hamlet about 5 miles (8 km) north-west from the town of Alford, Lincolnshire, England, most notable for its water mill. The population is now included in the civil parish of Authorpe. Claythorpe Mill was for a time a restaurant but is now a visitor attraction with wildfowl gardens, animals and a cafe. It was known previously as Empire Mills when it was built as a corn mill in the 18th century. It was largely rebuilt in the 19th century, and the top floor was destroyed by fire and rebuilt again in 1890. Originally powered by a water wheel it has worked using a turbine since 1890, which is housed at the rear of the building. The steel wheel and gearing are still there, and it is a Grade II listed building. It was the last regularly working water mill in Lincolnshire, although it has not been in use since 1977.Claythorpe Manor (formerly Claythorpe Hall) is a Grade II listed red brick farmhouse dating from the 18th century.

Beesby with Saleby is a civil parish in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It includes Beesby and Saleby. According to the 2001 Census it had a population of 228, increasing to 258 at the 2011 Census. The main A1104 road from Alford to Louth passes back and forth across the parish. The whole parish is around 33 feet (10 m) above sea level, in the strip of former coastal marsh known as the Lincolnshire Marsh. Beesby was once known as Beesby in the Marsh. Local democracy takes the form of a Parish Meeting.

Aby for Claythorpe was a railway station on the East Lincolnshire Railway which served the hamlets of Aby and Claythorpe in Lincolnshire between 1848 and 1961. It originally opened as Claythorpe, but was renamed in 1885. Withdrawal of goods facilities took place in 1961, on the same day that the station was closed to passengers. The line through the station is closed.

Withern is a village in the civil parish of Withern with Stain, in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated on the A157 road, and 7 miles (11 km) south-east from Louth. Stain was once an independent parish but was combined with Withern when the old church of St John the Baptist was destroyed some centuries ago. According to A Dictionary of British Place Names, the Withern name is derived from the Old English Widu or wudu, with oern, meaning "house in the Wood". Another source gives the name as deriving from Old Norse vithr "wood" + OE aerne "house", meaning "the house in the wood", giving 'Witheren' in the 14th century. In the 1086 Domesday Book, the village name is given as Widerne. The parish was in the ancient Calceworth Wapentake in the East Lindsey district in the parts of Lindsey. After the Poor Law Amendment Act reforms of 1834, the parish became part of the Louth Poor Law Union. The common lands, some 600 acres (2.4 km2), were enclosed in 1839. The now redundant church of St Margaret's is the burial place of Auguste Pahud and Annie Pahud, whose love story is the raison d'être for the local Hubbard's Hills park. St Margaret's was rebuilt in 1812. A Wesleyan Methodist chapel was built in 1875, though the congregation dates from about 1811. A Public Elementary School was built in the hamlet of Stain in 1850 and enlarged in 1858 to hold 100 children. The Wesleyans built a school in 1875. The manor house was the seat of the Fitzwilliam family. It was occupied as a farmhouse in 1900, but the moat still exists. The Grant family lived in the house at one time, their daughter being Annie Pahud.
