Kagetsu-sōjiji Station

Kokudō Station (国道駅, Kokudō-eki) is a railway station operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East) in Tsurumi-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan.

Kagetsu-en Velodrome (花月園競輪場, Kagetsuen Keirinjyō) was a velodrome located in Yokohama that conducted pari-mutuel Keirin racing - one of Japan's four authorized "Public Sports" (公営競技, kōei kyōgi) where gambling is permitted. Kagetsu-en's oval was 400 meters in circumference. A typical keirin race of 2,025 meters consisted of five laps around the course. Kagetsu-en closed on March 31, 2010.

Tsurumi University (鶴見大学, Tsurumi Daigaku) is a private university in Tsurumi-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan. Tsurumi University traces its origin to Tsurumi Girls' High School, which was established in 1925. In 1953, Tsurumi Girls' Junior College was established, and it was chartered as Tsurumi Girls' University in 1963. In 1973, the name was changed to Tsurumi University, when boys were admitted. It continues as a co-ed university. Tsurumi University comprises the School of Dental Medicine (six-year program), the School of Literature (four-year program), and Tsurumi Junior College (two-year program for the Department of Early Childhood Care and Education and three-year program for the Department of Dental Hygiene). Graduate programs are available in both the School of Dental Medicine and the School of Literature. The Tsurumi University School of Literature has four departments: Japanese Literature, English and American Language and Literature, Cultural Properties, and Library, Archival and Information Studies. At Tsurumi University, there are 498 faculty members for a student population of 3099 (2014 data). Some major facilities of Tsurumi University are the Tsurumi University Dental Hospital, the Tsurumi University Library, the Institute of Buddhist Culture, and the Tsurumi University Center for International Exchange. The official mascot characters of Tsurumi University are Tsurumin and Tsurutan. The university is well-known in Japan for having a strong baseball program. Tsurumi University is between the cities of Kawasaki and Yokohama, close to Tokyo. Access is by the JR Keihin-Tohoku, Tsurumi and Keikyu lines, as well as the Yokohama Municipal Bus System. Students come from all over Kanagawa Prefecture and the Greater Tokyo Area, as well as from other regions of Japan.

Sōji-ji (總持寺) is one of two daihonzan (大本山, "head temples") of the Sōtō school of Zen Buddhism. The other is Eihei-ji temple in Fukui Prefecture. Fodor's calls it "one of the largest and busiest Buddhist institutions in Japan". The temple was founded in 740 as a Shingon Buddhist temple. Keizan, later known as Sōtō's great patriarch Taiso Jōsai Daishi, founded the present temple in 1321, when he renamed it Sōji-ji with the help and patronage of Emperor Go-Daigo. The temple has about twelve buildings in Tsurumi, part of the port city of Yokohama, one designed by the architect Itō Chūta.

Tsurumi-ku (鶴見区) is one of the 18 ku (wards) of the city of Yokohama in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. As of 2010, the ward had an estimated population of 270,433 and a density of 8,140 persons per km². The total area is 33.23 km².

The Tsurumi rail accident (鶴見事故, Tsurumi jiko, or "Tsurumi accident") occurred on November 9, 1963 between Tsurumi and Shin-Koyasu stations on the Tōkaidō Main Line in Yokohama, Japan, about 30 kilometres (20 mi) south of Tokyo, when two passenger trains collided with a derailed freight train, killing 162 people.

The Namamugi incident (生麦事件, Namamugi-jiken), also known as the Kanagawa incident and Richardson affair, was a political crisis that occurred in the Tokugawa Shogunate of Japan during the Bakumatsu on 14 September 1862. Charles Lennox Richardson, a British merchant, was killed by the armed retinue of Shimazu Hisamitsu, the regent of the Satsuma Domain, on a road in Namamugi near Kawasaki. Richardson's killing sparked outrage among Europeans for violating their extraterritoriality in Japan, while the Japanese argued Richardson had disrespected Shimazu and was justifiably killed under the Kiri-sute gomen rule. British demands for compensation and failure by the Satsuma to respond resulted in the Bombardment of Kagoshima (or Anglo-Satsuma War) in August 1863.

Yokohama College of Commerce (横浜商科大学, Yokohama shōka daigaku) is a private university in Tsurumi-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. The predecessor of the school was founded in 1941. It was chartered as a junior college in 1966 and became a four-year college two years later. A subsidiary one-year coursework campus was established in Midori-ku, Yokohama in 1995.
