Studentendorf Schlachtensee

Waldfriedhof Zehlendorf (Zehlendorf forest cemetery) is a cemetery located in Berlin's Nikolassee district. The cemetery occupies an area of 376,975 m2. An additional Italian war cemetery was created there in 1953. A number of notable people of Berlin are buried at the cemetery; some have a grave of honor (German: Ehrengrab). In particular, all of Berlin's deceased post-war mayors are buried here.

Schlachtensee is a locality within the borough of Steglitz-Zehlendorf in Berlin. It was formed as a new administrative district in 2020, combining parts of the Nikolassee and Zehlendorf localities.

Berlin-Schlachtensee (in German Bahnhof Berlin-Schlachtensee) is a railway station in the Schlachtensee quarter in the district Steglitz-Zehlendorf of Berlin, Germany. It is served by the Berlin S-Bahn. The station is south of the lake Schlachtensee and was opened in 1874. The service was temporarily suspended because of the low use because of the S-Bahn-Boykott during the Cold War, to demonstrate against the GDR who also operated the S-Bahn in the west of berlin, despite the wall. In 1970, the tracks were dismantled. It was not until 1985 that operations could be resumed.

Leibniz-Zentrum Moderner Orient (ZMO) is a German research institute located in Berlin, Germany. The researchers focus on a comparative and interdisciplinary study of the Middle East, Africa, Eurasia, South and Southeast Asia. Central to its current research topics is the study of predominantly Muslim societies and their relations with non-Muslim neighbours. ZMO was founded in 1996 as an independent centre for the humanities, cultural and social sciences and is situated in the “Mittelhof”, which was designed by Hermann Muthesius, in Berlin-Nikolassee. Under the directorate of Ulrike Freitag, the centre is part of the association “Geisteswissenschaftliche Zentren Berlin e.V.” (GWZ Berlin). The research programme has been funded by the Berlin Senate, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and the German Ministry for Education and Research. Since January 1, 2017 ZMO is part of the Leibniz Association. The research programme of ZMO currently encompasses four interdisciplinary research units and approx. 35 scientific researchers that work on aspects of history and culture of the “modern Orient” from the 16th century onwards.

Schlachtensee (German pronunciation ) is a lake in the south west of Berlin, in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf borough (in the quarters of Schlachtensee), on the edge of the Grunewald forest. The lake lends its name to the surrounding area and to the nearby Studentendorf Schlachtensee, a student residence. The area has been part of Berlin since 1920.

Zehlendorf (German: [ˈtseːlənˌdɔʁf] (listen)) is a locality within the borough of Steglitz-Zehlendorf in Berlin. Before Berlin's 2001 administrative reform Zehlendorf was a borough in its own right, consisting of the locality of Zehlendorf as well as Wannsee, Nikolassee and Dahlem. Zehlendorf contains some of the most remarked upon natural settings in Berlin, including parts of the Grunewald forest and the Schlachtensee, Krumme Lanke and Waldsee lakes. Additionally, it has large affluent residential neighborhoods, some with cobblestone streets and buildings that are over 100 years old. It is one of the most expensive areas in Berlin for housing.

Nikolassee (German pronunciation: [ˈnɪkolasˌzeː] (listen)) is a locality (Ortsteil) of Berlin in the borough (Bezirk) of Steglitz-Zehlendorf, named after the small Nikolassee lake. Located in the affluent Southwest of the city, the area comprises parts of the Schlachtensee neighbourhood and the eastern shore of the Großer Wannsee lake with the large Strandbad Wannsee lido, as well as the islets of Schwanenwerder and Lindwerder.

Berlin Mexikoplatz (in German Bahnhof Berlin Mexikoplatz) is a railway station in the Zehlendorf district of Berlin, Germany. It is served by the Berlin S-Bahn line S1 and several local bus lines. It is also planned to extend the U3 U-Bahn line here. The station was erected in 1904 as one of the few genuine Art Nouveau buildings in Berlin and it is heritage listed. Its name changed several times: from Zehlendorf-Beerenstraße to Zehlendorf-West in 1911, to Lindenthaler Allee in 1958 and finally to Mexikoplatz in 1987.

Düppel (after Dybbøl, South Jutland, Denmark) is the name of a neighbourhood as well as of an adjacent forest in the borough of Steglitz-Zehlendorf in southwestern Berlin, Germany. The neighbourhood itself is a part of the Zehlendorf locality.

Berlin-Nikolassee station (German: Bahnhof Berlin-Nikolassee) is a railway station in the Nikolassee area of Berlin, Germany. It is served by trains of the Berlin S-Bahn, and is notable for its prominent Neo-Gothic entrance building.

Checkpoint Bravo ("Checkpoint B") was the name given by the Western Allies to the main Autobahn border crossing point between West Berlin and the German Democratic Republic. It was known in German as Grenzübergangsstelle Drewitz-Dreilinden. Drewitz is a community nearby, and Dreilinden is the name of the wooded area in Berlin through which the highway passes.

Kleinmachnow is a municipality of about 20,000 inhabitants in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district, in Brandenburg, Germany. It is situated South-West of the borough of Steglitz-Zehlendorf and East of Potsdam. First mentioned in the Landbuch of Karl IV in 1375, the place played an important role at the Bäke beek / creek crossing, secured by multiple medieval castles. The last of these castles (none of which are preserved today) belonged to the Knights of Hake, a family who shaped the local history until the 20th century. The replacement of the Bäke (beek / creek) with the Teltow Canal in 1906 brought the village the now listed historic Kleinmachnow flood-gate. In the first half of the 20th century, Kleinmachnow grew from a rural village to a suburb municipality of the Berlin Metropolitan Area. The construction of the Berlin Wall cut Kleinmachnow off from West Berlin. The community's location near the border meant it was relatively isolated in the GDR. Since the German reunification, Kleinmachnow has been part of the growth of the countryside areas outside of Berlin.
