The Hochschule für Kirchenmusik Heidelberg is a university of church music in Heidelberg and one of the most renowned ones in Germany.Its predecessor, Evangelisches Kirchenmusikalisches Institut Heidelberg (KI, Protestant church music institute) was founded in 1931 by Meinhard Hermann Poppen to improve the training of church musicians for the Evangelical Church in Baden. It was modeled after the institute in Leipzig, where Poppen had previously studied with its founder, organist Karl Straube. The institute offers all church music subjects (organ and other instruments, choral conducting, singing) and theoretical subjects (harmony, counterpoint, figured bass, stylistics). After Poppens death in 1956, organist Herbert Haag was the director until 1973, succeeded by Wolfgang Herbst, Hermann Schäffer, and from 2006 to 2018 Bernd Stegmann, followed by Prof. Dr. Martin Mautner since 2018. Notable lecturers have included Wolfgang Fortner, Walter Leib, Helmut Tramnitz, Bruno Penzin, Heinz Werner Zimmermann, Kurt Bossler, Gerhard Wagner, Rolf Schweizer, Gudula Kremers, Hermann Schemmel, Eugen Polus, Gerhard Luchterhandt, Maria Mokhova and Martin Sander. Notable alumni have included Felix Hell, Martin Lutz, Erna Woll and Hans Rudolf Zöbeley.

The Heidelberg Faculty of Theology (German: Theologische Fakultät der Universität Heidelberg) is one of twelve faculties at the University of Heidelberg. It was one of the four founding faculties in 1386. As of 2023, the faculty's dean is Jan Stievermann.

Weststadt ("West City") is a suburb of Heidelberg created during the 19th century, when Heidelberg expanded to the west along the railways during the Industrial Revolution. The development of Weststadt into the first suburb at the base of the Gaisberg hill is closely connected with Heidelberg's development into a metropolis. Following further expansion, the new suburbs of Südstadt and Bahnstadt were created to the south and west respectively. The central square is Wilhelmsplatz, which is used for regular events, daily recreation and a farmer's market on Mondays and Thursdays.

Bergheim is a city district of Heidelberg. It is bounded on the North by the Neckar River, the East by the Bismarkplatz, on the South by the Kurfürsten Anlage and the South by the city line. It is a mostly urban residential area, however the Bergheim Campus of the University of Heidelberg has numerous buildings in the district. Since March 2009 the Heidelberg University Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences has occupied the former Ludolf Krehl clinic (after Ludolf von Krehl). Bergheim also has a number of parks, both along the river and near the Stadtbücherei.

The German Cancer Research Center (known as the Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum or simply DKFZ in German), is a national cancer research center based in Heidelberg, Germany. It is a member of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres, the largest scientific organization in Germany.

St. Bonifatius is a Catholic church in the Weststadt of Heidelberg. It is a Romanesque Revival basilica with a transept and a facade with double towers, which was designed by Ludwig Maier and built between 1899 and 1903. The church is part of the parish of Philipp Neri in the pastoral unit of Heidelberg within the deaconate of Heidelberg-Weinheim, in the Archdiocese of Freiburg.

The Faculty of Behavioural Sciences and Empirical Cultural Studies is one of twelve faculties at the University of Heidelberg. The Faculty comprises the Institute of Psychology, the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology, the Department of Education, the Institute of Sport and Sport Science, and the Institute of Gerontology. The faculty is headed by a dean. From 2012 to 2014, Professor Dr. Klaus Fiedler was dean.

Neuenheimer Feld is an area in the city of Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The area lies on the north side of the Neckar river and consists mostly of buildings associated with the University of Heidelberg, including student accommodation and research facilities, as well as the University Hospital Heidelberg. The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and the Max Planck Society also have facilities on the site. On maps, addresses and in local language, the area is often referred to as "Im Neuenheimer Feld" (INF), with the inclusion of the German word "Im" meaning "in the". On 24 January 2022, Neuenheimer Feld became the site of a deadly school shooting.

The Heidelberg University shooting occurred on 24 January 2022, when an 18-year-old male student, Nikolai G., opened fire on a crowd during an ongoing lecture in Heidelberg University in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, killing one student and injuring three others. The shooter then fled the scene and later committed suicide by shooting himself. The police arrived at the scene shortly after the attack, and launched an investigation. The gunman's motives are reported to be unclear. Several public figures and organizations expressed their condolences and offered support to the affected students and their families. It was the first school shooting in Germany that resulted in fatalities since the Winnenden school shooting in March 2009.

The Faculty of Modern Languages is one of twelve faculties at the University of Heidelberg. It comprises the Seminar for German Studies, Seminar for English Studies, Seminar for German as a Foreign Language Philology, Seminar for Translating and Interpreting, Seminar for Computational Linguistics, Seminar for Romance Studies, Seminar for Mediaeval and Neo-Latin Philology, and the Seminar for Slavic Studies.

The Botanischer Garten der Universität Heidelberg (2 hectares), also known as the Botanischer Garten Heidelberg, is a botanical garden maintained by the University of Heidelberg. It is located at Im Neuenheimer Feld 340, New Campus, Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany; portions are open to the public daily except Saturday without charge. The garden was established in 1593 as a hortus medicus for the University of Heidelberg. As such, it is the third oldest botanical garden in Germany, but has moved seven times since its establishment. The present site was created in 1915 by Georg Albrecht Klebs and head gardener Erich Behnick. It was severely damaged in World War II but has subsequently been rebuilt. Today the garden contains over 14,000 plant taxa, with a primary focus on its greenhouse collections (4000 m² total area), with strengths in succulents, orchids, and bromeliads. The herbarium contains over 250,000 specimens representing more than 50,000 taxa.
