From May 2016 to June 2021 the stadium was known as Opel Arena ([ˈoːpl̩ ʔaˌʁeːnaː]) per a naming rights agreement with Opel.The stadium adopted its current name in July 2021 following a sponsorship agreement with the MEWA Textil-Service, a German linen rental company.

The University of Applied Sciences Mainz consists of three faculties: School of Technology, School of Design and School of Business. The common feature of all fields of study is the practical orientation of the university, the short periods of study and the internationally orientated courses. In 2009 the School of Business, the School of Engineering with the departments Geoinformatics and Surveying and the administration of the university moved to the new location "Campus". All other departments will move as well in the near future to the new location "Campus".

The Mainz Microtron (German name: Mainzer Mikrotron), abbreviated MAMI, is a microtron (particle accelerator) which provides a continuous wave, high intensity, polarized electron beam with an energy up to 1.6 GeV. MAMI is the core of an experimental facility for particle, nuclear and X-ray radiation physics at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz (Germany). It is one of the largest campus-based accelerator facilities for basic research in Europe. The congregation was formally recognized by the Holy See on 16 July 1935.The Sisters of Divine Providence began to serve in the Americas in 1876, now present in the United States, Puerto Rico, Santo Domingo and Peru. They also serve in Korea.

The Hochschule für Musik Mainz (HfMM, Mainz School of Music) is a university of music, part of the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz. It is the only such institution in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
