Mount Grace Priory

The Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Grace is a place of Marian devotion and pilgrimage sited in the North Yorkshire village of Osmotherley. Christians have visited this small church, known as the “Lady Chapel”, for centuries and continue the tradition through an annual pilgrimage every summer on the Sunday nearest the Feast of the Assumption, 15 August.

Osmotherley Friends Meeting House is a Friends Meeting House of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), situated in the village of Osmotherley in North Yorkshire, England. It is a Grade II listed building. The meeting house is a traditional stone building, built around 1723 (1723), it is owned and maintained by Teesdale & Cleveland Area Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). It is still used regularly as a place of worship. Meeting for worship is held on the third Sunday of each month at 1500 hours GMT. The Meeting House and a separate dormitory block are available for letting to organised groups and families, both Quaker and non-Quaker, and can sleep up to 25.

Osmotherley is a village and civil parish in the Hambleton hills in North Yorkshire, six miles north-east of Northallerton. The village is at the western edge of the North York Moors National Park. Osmotherley is on the route of the 110-mile Cleveland Way, one of the National Trails established by Natural England.

Ingleby Arncliffe is a village and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England. It is situated between the A172 and A19 roads, 6.5 miles (10.5 km) north-east from Northallerton and 7 miles (11.3 km) south-east from the small market town of Stokesley, and is on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. The village is conjoined to its smaller neighbour, Ingleby Cross. Ingleby Arncliffe lies in the historic county of the North Riding of Yorkshire.

Thimbleby is a small village and civil parish in the Hambleton District of North Yorkshire, England, it is in the North Yorks Moors and close to the village of Osmotherley and the Cleveland Way, 6 miles (9.7 km) east of Northallerton. The population of the civil parish as of the 2011 census was 258.

East Harlsey is a village and civil parish in the Hambleton District of North Yorkshire, England. It is about 1 mile (2 km) west of Ingleby Arncliffe and the A19 and 6 miles (10 km) north-east of Northallerton. The population of the village as measured at the 2011 census was 281. Within the village there is a pub called the 'Cat and Bagpipes'. Harlsey Hall manor house is in the centre of the village: the manor was the property of the Lascelles family from the 11th century until 1654, when it passed to the Trotter Bannerman family, and from 1825, to the Maynard family. Comedian Roy 'Chubby' Brown has a home at Harlsey Manor, to the east of East Harlsey.

Ellerbeck is a small village and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England. The population of the parish was estimated at 50 in 2011 and 2011. As the population taken at the 2011 Census remained less than 100, the details are maintained in the civil parish of Winton, Stank and Hallikeld. Ellerbeck lies on the A684 road between Northallerton and the A19 near Osmotherley. Ellerbeck also lies on the route of one of the variations of the Coast to coast walk. Cod Beck flows through Ellerbeck on its way down into the Vale of Mowbray from the North York Moors. The village of Elrebec is mentioned in the Domesday Book as having two ploughlands and being the property of Ligulf in 1066, but King William in 1086. The name was recorded as either Elrebec or Alrebec and means Alder Brook. There was a violent gas explosion in Ellerbeck in the late 1990s which destroyed a house in the village but did not cause any deaths.

Sheepwash is a popular tourist spot in the North York Moors, North Yorkshire, England. It is located on Cod Beck which flows into Cod Beck Reservoir near Osmotherley. The name possibly derives from the fact that shepherds bring their sheep down from the surrounding moorland and wash them in the beck at the ford. The ford across the Cod Beck at Sheepwash was on an old drovers road between Scotland and the south of England known as The Hambleton Drove Road. Most of the lower lying parts of the road have been converted into modern roads but the section across the North York Moors is still a rough upland track. The area is bounded to the west by Scarth Wood Moor, which also lends its name to the National Trust car park at Sheepwash. In 2004 75% of parking tickets issued in Hambleton district were handed out near Sheepwash, to drivers parked incorrectly or on grassed verges.

Kirby Sigston is a village and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England, approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) east of Northallerton. The village is situated on the Cod Beck river, and the wider parish contains the hamlet of Jeater Houses due east of the village on the trunk A19 road.

Swainby is a village in the Hambleton District of North Yorkshire, England. It is situated on the A172 road, 8 miles (13 km) north-east from Northallerton and 5 miles (8 km) south-east from the small market town of Stokesley.
