Békásmegyer (German: Krottendorf) is a neighbourhood in Budapest, Hungary. It belongs administratively to District III. Békásmegyer consists of two different parts, a huge high-rise housing estate and the traditional Ófalu ("Old Village") with older houses. Békásmegyer is divided into two by the Szentendre HÉV line. Békásmegyer bal-oldal or hegy felőli oldal (left-side or mountain side) and Békásmegyer jobb-oldal or Duna felőli oldal (right-side or Danube side). The left side was an independent village until 1 January 1950, when it was merged into Budapest, while the right side was a water reservoir of the Danube river. Today 41,000 people live in Békásmegyer Microdistrict (13,394 panel flats) and a few thousand in the former village.

Aquincum Civil Amphitheatre is an ancient structure in Budapest, Hungary, the lesser of two located in Obuda. The other is the Aquincum Military Amphitheatre. It was built between 250 AD and 300 AD. South of the western gate is an inscription of the Greek goddess Nemesis also known as Rhamnousia/Rhamnusia.

The Aquincum Museum is a museum in Budapest, Hungary. It first opened in May 1894. Archeological findings from the remains of Aquincum are on display there. These include items from the local mithraeum. It has an indoor and outdoor part.Paula Zsidi served as the museum director from 1989 until 2015.

Aquincum (Latin: [aˈkᶣɪŋkũː], Hungarian: [ˈɒkviŋkum]) was an ancient city, situated on the northeastern borders of the province of Pannonia within the Roman Empire. The ruins of the city can be found today in Budapest, the capital city of Hungary. It is believed that Marcus Aurelius wrote at least part of his book Meditations at Aquincum.

The Jewish Cemetery of Óbuda in Budapest, Hungary, was opened by the Jewish community in 1922 in the Óbuda-Békásmegyer district (District III) of Budapest. The opening speech was delivered by Ignác Schreiber, a young rabbi, who died only three days later, becoming the first person to be buried there.Later the remains of Mózes Müncz, Gyula Wellesz and Gyula Klein, chief rabbis of Óbuda, were brought there. The tomb of Mózes Müncz is a significant place of pilgrimage. Renowned Jewish Hungarian artists and scientists are also buried here, including the writer, Andor Endre Gelléri, and the psychologist, Ferenc Mérei. The mass grave of the Maros Street Hospital's 149 victims, patients, doctors and nurses alike, who were murdered in January 1945 by the members of the Hungarian Arrow Cross Party, during the Holocaust in Hungary, are located in this cemetery.

The Aquincum Mithraeum (of Victorinus) is a temple to the Roman god Mithras near Budapest in Hungary. The temple (known as a Mithraeum) was built within a townhouse in the Roman city of Aquincum, now in Óbuda on the outskirts of the modern city of Budapest, Hungary.

Aquincum Institute of Technology (AIT) is a study abroad opportunity for North American undergraduates in Budapest, Hungary. AIT offers undergraduate programs in computer science, software engineering, and information technology. Established in 2007, the program was created by the businessman Gábor Bojár, founder of Graphisoft. After Bojár sold Graphisoft, he used a majority of the profit from this sale to found AIT in an effort to "Invest in People.". The first official semester was Spring 2011. Each semester, approximately 30-50 North American students study at AIT.A similar program for mathematics students in Budapest is the Budapest Semesters in Mathematics Program.

The Sziget Festival (Hungarian: Sziget Fesztivál, pronounced [ˈsiɡɛt ˈfɛstivaːl]; "Sziget" for "Island") is one of the largest music and cultural festivals in Europe. It is held every August in northern Budapest, Hungary, on Óbudai-sziget ("Old Buda Island"), a leafy 108-hectare (266-acre) island on the Danube. More than 1,000 performances take place each year. The week-long festival has grown from a relatively low-profile student event in 1993 to become one of the prominent European rock festivals, with about half of all visitors coming from outside Hungary, especially from Western Europe. It also has a dedicated "party train" service (with resident DJs) that transports festival-goers from all over Europe. The second event (1994), labelled Eurowoodstock, was headlined by performers from the original Woodstock festival. By 1997, total attendance surpassed the 250,000 mark, and by 2016 reached the 440,000 mark. In 2018 that record was broken when 565,000 visitors attended the festival. Since the mid-2000s, Sziget Festival has been increasingly labelled as a European alternative to the Burning Man festival due to its unique features ("an electronically amplified, warped amusement park that has nothing to do with reality").In 2011, Sziget was ranked one of the 5 best festivals in Europe by The Independent. The festival is a two-time winner at the European Festivals Awards in the category Best Major European Festival, in 2011 and 2014.In 2002, Sziget branched out to Transylvania when its organisers co-created a new annual festival there titled Félsziget Fesztivál (Romanian: Festivalul Peninsula) that soon became the largest of its kind in Romania. In 2007, the organisers co-created Balaton Sound, an electronic music festival held on the southern bank of Lake Balaton that quickly gained popularity.
