Aquincum Museum

Aquincum (Latin: [aˈkᶣɪŋkũː], Hungarian: [ˈɒkviŋkum]) was an ancient city, situated on the northeastern borders of the province of Pannonia within the Roman Empire. The ruins of the city can be found today in Budapest, the capital city of Hungary. It is believed that Marcus Aurelius wrote at least part of his book Meditations at Aquincum.

The Aquincum Mithraeum (of Victorinus) is a temple to the Roman god Mithras near Budapest in Hungary. The temple (known as a Mithraeum) was built within a townhouse in the Roman city of Aquincum, now in Óbuda on the outskirts of the modern city of Budapest, Hungary.

Aquincum Civil Amphitheatre is an ancient structure in Budapest, Hungary, the lesser of two located in Obuda. The other is the Aquincum Military Amphitheatre. It was built between 250 AD and 300 AD. South of the western gate is an inscription of the Greek goddess Nemesis also known as Rhamnousia/Rhamnusia.

Aquincum Institute of Technology (AIT) is a study abroad opportunity for North American undergraduates in Budapest, Hungary. AIT offers undergraduate programs in computer science, software engineering, and information technology. Established in 2007, the program was created by the businessman Gábor Bojár, founder of Graphisoft. After Bojár sold Graphisoft, he used a majority of the profit from this sale to found AIT in an effort to "Invest in People.". The first official semester was Spring 2011. Each semester, approximately 30-50 North American students study at AIT.A similar program for mathematics students in Budapest is the Budapest Semesters in Mathematics Program.

The Sziget Festival (Hungarian: Sziget Fesztivál, pronounced [ˈsiɡɛt ˈfɛstivaːl]; "Sziget" for "Island") is one of the largest music and cultural festivals in Europe. It is held every August in northern Budapest, Hungary, on Óbudai-sziget ("Old Buda Island"), a leafy 108-hectare (266-acre) island on the Danube. More than 1,000 performances take place each year. The week-long festival has grown from a relatively low-profile student event in 1993 to become one of the prominent European rock festivals, with about half of all visitors coming from outside Hungary, especially from Western Europe. It also has a dedicated "party train" service (with resident DJs) that transports festival-goers from all over Europe. The second event (1994), labelled Eurowoodstock, was headlined by performers from the original Woodstock festival. By 1997, total attendance surpassed the 250,000 mark, and by 2016 reached the 440,000 mark. In 2018 that record was broken when 565,000 visitors attended the festival. Since the mid-2000s, Sziget Festival has been increasingly labelled as a European alternative to the Burning Man festival due to its unique features ("an electronically amplified, warped amusement park that has nothing to do with reality").In 2011, Sziget was ranked one of the 5 best festivals in Europe by The Independent. The festival is a two-time winner at the European Festivals Awards in the category Best Major European Festival, in 2011 and 2014.In 2002, Sziget branched out to Transylvania when its organisers co-created a new annual festival there titled Félsziget Fesztivál (Romanian: Festivalul Peninsula) that soon became the largest of its kind in Romania. In 2007, the organisers co-created Balaton Sound, an electronic music festival held on the southern bank of Lake Balaton that quickly gained popularity.

Varga Studio, Ltd. was an animation studio located in Budapest, Hungary. It operated from 1988 to 2005 and was one of Europe's nine leading animation houses. While most of its work was for European animation, it occasionally animated for American series as well. They were subcontracted for these specials so that the regular Simpsons studios like AKOM, Rough Draft Studios, and Anivision were not burdened with extra work and could concentrate on animating full episodes.From 2000, the studio produced cartoons as a subcontractor to Varga Holdings, which was established at the time, and to its owner, Varga Holdings Ltd., which was registered in the United Kingdom. The 2002 Mr. Bean cartoon series reached nearly four million views at its premiere in the UK. The production cost was more than six million dollars.Varga Studios Budapest worked on the pilot of the Animated Credits, (1999) and Varga Holdings later in 2002-2004.

Alternatív Közgazdasági Gimnázium ("Alternative Secondary School of Economics"), known as AKG by its students, is a six-year high school in Budapest, Hungary. The basic educational principle of the school is that a child is not preparing for life but is living it. The school has given up the traditional instruments of institutional regulation, including house rules, systems of punishment and reward. These have been replaced with the free flow of information and the freedom of choice, emphasising the individual personalities of students, and taking into account their personal needs and concerns. The nature of this freedom changes along with the different stages of the students' life in the school.

Óbuda was a town in Hungary that was merged with Buda and Pest on 17 November 1873; it now forms part of District III-Óbuda-Békásmegyer of Budapest. The name means Old Buda in Hungarian (in German, Alt-Ofen). The name in Serbo-Croatian for this city is Stari Budim, but the local Croat minority calls it Obuda (the name Budim is used for the fortress in Buda). In Czech and the Slovak languages, it is called Starý Budín. The island (Óbuda Island) next to this part of the city today hosts the Sziget Festival, a huge music and cultural festival. Óbuda's centre is Fő tér (Main Square), connected to a small square with a sculpture of people waiting for the rain to stop. It is accessible by HÉV (Szentlélek tér station).

The Danube Arena (in Hungarian: Duna Aréna, unofficially Dagály Budapest Aquatics Complex) is an aquatics complex located in Budapest, Hungary. It was designed by Marcell Ferenc and built between 2015 and 2017.

Váci út (Váci Avenue, lit. Road to Vác) is one of the widest and busiest avenues in Budapest, Hungary. It is about 12 kilometers (7.5 mi) long and has four to eight traffic lanes.

Árpád Bridge or Árpád híd is a bridge in Budapest, Hungary, connecting northern Buda (Óbuda) and Pest across the Danube. Until the inauguration of Megyeri Bridge in 2008, it was the longest bridge in Hungary, spanning about 2 km (1.24 mi) with the sections leading up to the bridge, and 928 m (0.58 mi) without them. It is 35.3 m (116 ft) wide with pedestrian and bicycle paths and a tramline. At its Óbuda end is Flórián tér, Szentlélek tér (near the Main Square of Óbuda, the Vasarely and Kassák Museums). Margaret Island is connected to Árpád Bridge through an embranchment approximately in the middle of the bridge, and crosses the Southern tip of Óbuda Island as well, although there is no road, pedestrian or any other connection whatsoever between the two. (See Sziget Festival) At the Pest end, the adjoining Line 3 (North-South) metro station was called "Árpád híd" until 31 January 2020.

Gyöngyösi utca (Gyöngyösi Street) is a station on the Budapest Metro Line 3 (North-South). It is located under Váci út at its intersection with the streets Gyöngyösi utca and Meder utca. The station was opened on 14 December 1990 as part of the extension from Árpád híd.It serves the residential and commercial parts of northwestern and northern Angyalföld, including the Duna Pláza shopping mall, which features an underground walkway to the station. Next to the station, there is a smaller microraion with prefabricated block of flats. It also serves the new upscale residential complex Marina part, located up on the Danube.
