Boylston is an unincorporated community located in the town of Superior, Douglas County, Wisconsin, United States. It is along County Road C near Wisconsin Highway 35. Boylston is south of the city of Superior.Wolves are known to frequent the area.

On June 30, 1992, a Burlington Northern Railroad freight train derailed on a bridge over the Nemadji River at the southern edge of town of Superior, Wisconsin. The derailment resulted in a liquid benzene spill into the river. The fumes from the spill led to an evacuation of an estimated 80,000 residents from the town of Superior, the city of Superior and Duluth, Minnesota, apparently the largest evacuation in U.S. history resulting from a train accident.

WDSM (710 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Superior, Wisconsin, serving the Duluth-Superior area of Northeastern Minnesota and Northwestern Wisconsin. WDSM is owned and operated by Midwest Communications and broadcasts a sports radio format. The radio studios and offices for WDSM, KDAL, KDAL-FM, KDKE, WDUL and KTCO are at 11 East Superior Street, Suite 380, in downtown Duluth. By day, WDSM transmits with 10,000 watts non-directional. Because 710 AM is a clear channel frequency reserved for WOR New York City and KIRO Seattle, WDSM reduces power to 5,000 watts and uses a directional antenna with a four-tower array at night to avoid interference.

Sunnyside is an unincorporated community located in the towns of Superior, and Parkland, Douglas County, Wisconsin, United States. Sunnyside was built along the railroad, with the old depot being a house, and the tracks now an ATV trail.

Oliver is a village in Douglas County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 423 at the 2020 census. Oliver is located 5 miles (8.0 km) west of the city of Superior and 0.3 miles (0.48 km) east of Gary – New Duluth, Duluth, Minnesota.

The Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve includes land and water areas along the St. Louis River and Lake Superior in Douglas County, in the northwest corner of Wisconsin, United States. It is one of 29 National Estuarine Research Reserves. The Reserve is operated as a program of the Natural Resources Institute of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension. It has an area of 16,697 acres (6,757 ha), and was designated in 2010.

The Pokegama River is a 26.3-mile-long (42.3 km) river in Wisconsin and Minnesota in the United States. It is a tributary of the Saint Louis River, joining it in the western part of the city of Superior, Wisconsin.

The Oliver Bridge is a bridge across the Saint Louis River. It was constructed in 1910 as a railway bridge by the Interstate Transfer Railway Company, a Wisconsin corporation, under special federal authorization from the 60th United States Congress. A lower deck carrying road traffic was constructed in 1917 It connects the Gary – New Duluth neighborhood in Duluth, Minnesota with the village of Oliver, Wisconsin. The bridge is 1,889 feet (576 m) long and is principally of steel truss construction. The upper deck carries a single track rail line and a lower deck carries the road connecting Wisconsin Highway 105 to Minnesota State Highway 39.The upper deck was built to allow a streetcar line to be constructed from Gary–New Duluth to south Superior connecting the Duluth and Superior streetcar systems. The line was never built and the systems were connected across the Twin Ports Harbor. On the Oliver side, a section of the bridge was built to swing, allowing passage of large vessels despite the river only being navigable for a few miles upstream of the bridge. Only one vessel is ever thought to have used this facility, a ferry excursion boat operating between the Duluth harbor and the Fond du Lac neighborhood of Duluth. The ferry service ceased in the 1930s and the swing section has not operated since. The road deck was originally a wooden deck. Modernization came in 2000 when both states' transportation departments (WisDOT and Mn/DOT) cooperated with the Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range Railway to jointly fund a reconstruction of the roadway surface, which is constructed of a stronger steel with a reinforced concrete deck. A weight restriction, which was lowered to one ton as the road deck deteriorated, was then lifted. A pedestrian walkway atop the railway deck fell into disrepair and is no longer usable. The Oliver Bridge is owned by the Canadian National Railway.

Pokegama Bay is a small bay in northwestern Douglas County, Wisconsin, United States, which the St Louis River flows. It makes up part of the border between Minnesota and Wisconsin. Pokegama River, named after the bay, flows into this bay. Artist Eastman Johnson built a small cabin at Pokegama Bay while living in Wisconsin.
