2009 IFMAR 1:10 scale Electric Off-Road World Championships was the 13th running of the IFMAR 1:10 Electric Off-Road World Championship for 1:10 radio-controlled electric off-road buggies sanctioned by the International Federation of Model Auto Racing (IFMAR) that ran over two separate classes (2WD and 4WD). The national sanctioning body, South African Radio Driver's Association (SARDA) acted as a host nation on behalf of Fourth Association of Model Auto Racing (FAMAR) with Tshwane Raceway and Promotions (TRAP) acting as the host organization for the championship. taking place at the TRAP R/C Venue, located in Koedoespoort, Pretoria, in which they own. In traditions with the other championships, the warm-up event was integrated into the host's national championship, the 6th African Cup.The event along with the 1:5 Large Scale Worlds, also hosted by TRAP the previous month, would be remembered for being heavily boycotted by factory teams and drivers over security issues, as competitors were concerned for their safety following a number of incidents in 2002, notably involving Masami Hirosaka and the future IFMAR president Dallas Mathiesen, resulting to the assailant being swiftly dealt with and handed over to the police by the latter. This meant that a majority of entries consisted of South African drivers and three international entries. As a result of this, for the Electric On-Road Worlds (ISTC and 1:12 On-Road) due to take place in South Africa the following year, IFMAR stripped the organizer of its hosting rights and reallocated to MAC Burgdorf in Germany. At the time when the IFMAR ISTC World Championship was still in session in 2016; with South Africa being the only FAMAR bloc nation to apply, they were awarded hosting rights to host the Electric On-Road events for 2018.The 2WD and 4WD championships was won by Martin Achter, driving an Associated RC10B4 and Durango DEX410 respectively; despite the circumstances, he became the third driver to win both titles in a single host Worlds and second in the off-road Worlds. This became his only international championship A-main appearance.

The Maritz rebellion, also known as the Boer revolt or Five Shilling rebellion, was an armed insurrection in South Africa in 1914, at the start of World War I. It was led by Boers who supported the re-establishment of the South African Republic in the Transvaal. Many members of the South African government were themselves former Boers who had fought with the Maritz rebels against the British in the Second Boer War, which had ended twelve years earlier. The rebellion failed, and its ringleaders received heavy fines and terms of imprisonment.

Montana Park is a residential suburb of Pretoria in Gauteng, South Africa. It is situated to the north east of the Pretoria CBD. Over the recent years, Montana has experienced a considerable influx of Africans. As of 2019 November, the official language in the area can be said to be English, followed by both SetSwana and SeAfrikaans. The racial mix is neutralising fairly well. The average family heads in the suburb are predominantly middle age and upper working class. Many houses are three bedrooms with fairly average stand sizes suitable for city living. It is well located closer to the Sefako Makgatho Drive and the N1 and close by to the N4 to Ga-Rankuwa. Majority of the people in the area are government professionals.

The Pretoria National Botanical Garden is one of South Africa's nine National Botanical Gardens. The garden is wedged between Pretoria Road and Cussonia Avenue in Brummeria, in eastern Pretoria, Gauteng, and flanks a central rocky ridge that runs from east to west. The 76 hectares (0.76 km2) garden was established in 1946, and of late hosts the headquarters of the South African National Biodiversity Institute.

Mahlamba Ndlopfu (formerly known as Libertas) is the chief official residence of the President of the Republic of South Africa. The head of government has made it their official home since 1940 and it is located in the Bryntirion Estate in Pretoria. The building was built in 1940 and was designed by Gerard Moerdijk, a South African architect, to be the official residence in Pretoria of the Prime Minister of the time, General Jan Smuts. Since its creation, Mahlamba Ndlopfu has also hosted official visits from foreign heads of state, such as visits by François Mitterrand, the President of the French Republic, and Barack Obama, the President of the United States. The current occupant of Mahlamba Ndlopfu is Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa since February 14, 2018.

Tuks Stadium (sometimes referred to as ABSA Tuks Stadium for sponsorship reasons) is a soccer stadium in Hatfield, Pretoria, and the home ground of the University of Pretoria F.C. It is mainly used for rugby games.

Tuks Cricket Oval or LC de Villiers Oval is a cricket ground in Pretoria, South Africa. It is located in the premises of the Pretoria University. It is an occasional home ground for Northerns cricket team. The university's High Performance Centre which was established in 2002 has become the favored location for the pre-departure camps of Team South Africa in addition to being chosen by several national and international federations as their preferred specialization centre.Oval consist of 6 cricket fields, 3 Football fields, one rugby, two hockey field. Stadium is also shared with athletics. All field has floodlights with capacity of 2,000 persons. The oval hosted two Youth ODIs in 1998 ICC Under-19s World Cup and five women's ODIs in 2005 International Women's Cricket Council World Cup.In 2013, Indian opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan scored unbeaten 248 run on this ground against South Africa A.

Bryntirion Estate is an estate in Pretoria, South Africa. It incorporates the Mahlamba Ndlopfu residence of the president of South Africa, the vice president's residence (called the OR Tambo House), the presidential guest house, many homes of cabinet ministers, 15 tennis courts, and a 9 hole presidential golf course with a helipad. The estate is 1.07 square kilometres (107 hectares or 264 acres). The perimeter security system includes 202 CCTV cameras, 4 gatehouses and 8.1 km of anti-climb motion detection fences. The perimeter fences cost R90 million (USD12.8 million) to build in 2007. R90 million for 8.1 km is approximately R11 million per kilometre or R11 000 per metre. The Bryntirion Estate contains 28 erfs (properties). All the Bryntirion erven are owned by the Republic of South Africa except for erf 16.
