Bonita Vista High School (BVH) is a public, four-year (grade levels 9–12) high school located in the city of Chula Vista, California. It is part of the Sweetwater Union High School District, and offers both Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate classes. The mascot is a Baron.

Discovery Park is a 20.4-acre (0.083 km2) park in Chula Vista, California used for youth sports, community events, parties, and other functions.In 2018, the park was the center of a scandal involving an alleged middle school fight club, with students from nearby Bonita Vista Middle School reportedly organizing fights and uploading videos to Instagram.The park's statue of Christopher Columbus was vandalized in February, 2019, with red paint splattered on it and graffiti. A bronze plaque previously attached to the statue had been stolen.

A statue of Christopher Columbus by Mario Zamora was installed in Chula Vista, California's formerly named Discovery Park, in the United States. The statue has been vandalized multiple times. It was removed and placed into storage in June 2020. The park named after Columbus's so-called "discovery" of America was renamed in 2022. The statue was installed in 1991 as part of the Columbus Quincentenary. It was surveyed by the Smithsonian Institution's "Save Outdoor Sculpture!" program in 1993.

Victory Christian Academy is a private, Christian elementary and high school in Chula Vista, California. It is affiliated with the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod. The school serves approximately 180 students in total (K-12). Lutheran High School opened as Cal Lutheran High School in 1975 with its first graduating class in 1978. In 1984, its name was changed to Lutheran High School of San Diego and it moved to a new campus in the Lake of Murray area of San Diego. The campus was located on the old Cleveland Elementary public school on Lake Atlin. The school stayed there until spring 1988. In fall 1988, it moved back to Faith Lutheran Church. In fall 1999, the school moved to Holy Spirit Catholic Church located on 55th street in San Diego. In fall 2009, it was granted a permanent home located at the Church of Joy Lutheran Church in Chula Vista on Buena Vista Way. In 2015 the high school and the Church of Joy merged with Pilgrim Lutheran Church and its elementary school to form Victory Christian Church and Academy.

Southwestern College is a public community college in Chula Vista, California. Founded in 1961, Southwestern College serves approximately 19,000 students annually.

Cockatoo Grove was a populated place in San Diego County, California, United States. As of 2015, the former location of Cockatoo Grove is within the Otay Lakes neighborhood of Chula Vista, California.

The Sweetwater Dam is a dam across the Sweetwater River in San Diego County, California. It is located approximately 12 miles (19 km) east of San Diego, 9 miles (14 km) and borders Bonita to the southwest and La Presa to the northeast. The 108-foot (33 m)-high masonry arch dam impounds 960-acre (390 ha) Sweetwater Reservoir. The dam was first constructed in 1888 as part of a system of reservoirs on San Diego County rivers designed to provide water to irrigate crops along the coast and to supply the city of San Diego and its outlying towns. Over the next few decades the dam was raised and retrofitted several times from its original height of 60 feet (18 m). In 1916, a heavy flood caused both abutments of the dam to fail. The rest of the dam did not sustain heavy damage and it remains in use for flood control, water storage and recreation.

Bonita (Spanish for "Beautiful") is a census-designated place (CDP) in southern San Diego County, California, nestled between the cities of Chula Vista, National City, and San Diego. The population was 12,538 at the 2010 census.

Eastlake High School (ELH or EHS), in Chula Vista, California, United States, is a four-year high school which opened on September 8, 1992. The school is located just east of California State Route 125 near the eastern edge of Chula Vista in the neighborhood of Eastlake, a suburb located 20 minutes southeast of Downtown San Diego. The movie Bring It On, was partially filmed at the school's football stadium. The Ruth Chapman Performing Arts Center, located on campus, is used for band and orchestra concerts, dance performances, plays, church services, and other community performances. The school also features an amphitheatre for pep rallies and seating during lunch and nutrition break. The school also features an observatory and an engineering department, with classes ranging from Introduction to Engineering Design (IED) to Aerospace engineering.

Sweetwater Reservoir is a 960-acre (390 ha) artificial lake in San Diego County, California, formed by the Sweetwater Dam on the Sweetwater River. Construction of the dam was completed in 1888.

Otay Ranch High School is a high school located in Chula Vista, California. Otay Ranch High School primarily serves the Chula Vista developments of Otay Ranch and Rancho Del Rey.

Chula Vista Christian University (CVCU) is a private Christian university in Chula Vista, California. The university was founded in 2020 and offers undergraduate programs from a Biblical worldview. CVCU claims to be "the first modern, homeschool-based university on the West Coast."
