Southwestern College is a public community college in Chula Vista, California. Founded in 1961, Southwestern College serves approximately 19,000 students annually.

Discovery Park is a 20.4-acre (0.083 km2) park in Chula Vista, California used for youth sports, community events, parties, and other functions.In 2018, the park was the center of a scandal involving an alleged middle school fight club, with students from nearby Bonita Vista Middle School reportedly organizing fights and uploading videos to Instagram.The park's statue of Christopher Columbus was vandalized in February, 2019, with red paint splattered on it and graffiti. A bronze plaque previously attached to the statue had been stolen.

Victory Christian Academy is a private, Christian elementary and high school in Chula Vista, California. It is affiliated with the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod. The school serves approximately 180 students in total (K-12). Lutheran High School opened as Cal Lutheran High School in 1975 with its first graduating class in 1978. In 1984, its name was changed to Lutheran High School of San Diego and it moved to a new campus in the Lake of Murray area of San Diego. The campus was located on the old Cleveland Elementary public school on Lake Atlin. The school stayed there until spring 1988. In fall 1988, it moved back to Faith Lutheran Church. In fall 1999, the school moved to Holy Spirit Catholic Church located on 55th street in San Diego. In fall 2009, it was granted a permanent home located at the Church of Joy Lutheran Church in Chula Vista on Buena Vista Way. In 2015 the high school and the Church of Joy merged with Pilgrim Lutheran Church and its elementary school to form Victory Christian Church and Academy.

A statue of Christopher Columbus by Mario Zamora was installed in Chula Vista, California's formerly named Discovery Park, in the United States. The statue has been vandalized multiple times. It was removed and placed into storage in June 2020. The park named after Columbus's so-called "discovery" of America was renamed in 2022. The statue was installed in 1991 as part of the Columbus Quincentenary. It was surveyed by the Smithsonian Institution's "Save Outdoor Sculpture!" program in 1993.

Rancho de la Nación was a 26,632-acre (107.78 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day southern San Diego County, California given in 1845 by Governor Pío Pico to John (Don Juan) Forster. Eastlake High School (ELH or EHS), in Chula Vista, California, United States, is a four-year high school which opened on September 8, 1992. The school is located just east of California State Route 125 near the eastern edge of Chula Vista in the neighborhood of Eastlake, a suburb located 20 minutes southeast of Downtown San Diego. The movie Bring It On, was partially filmed at the school's football stadium. The Ruth Chapman Performing Arts Center, located on campus, is used for band and orchestra concerts, dance performances, plays, church services, and other community performances. The school also features an amphitheatre for pep rallies and seating during lunch and nutrition break. The school also features an observatory and an engineering department, with classes ranging from Introduction to Engineering Design (IED) to Aerospace engineering.

Mater Dei Catholic (MDCHS) is a private, Roman Catholic TK-12 school in Chula Vista, California, United States. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego. In 1960, Bishop Charles F. Buddy founded the first co-educational Catholic high school in the Diocese of San Diego. It would be built on twenty acres of land donated by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Egger. Seventy young students and a faculty of four embarked on a lasting venture which was to become known as Marian High School. These boys and girls carried the hopes and best wishes of many people as they attended classes in a three­ room division of St. Charles School across the street from what would be the future campus. In 2002, the Diocese of San Diego decided to upgrade all of its secondary campuses. A new site in Chula Vista was chosen and a new school was built. In 2007, the name was changed from Marian Catholic High School to Mater Dei Catholic and the school moved to its present location. The original campus was located in South San Diego, near the intersection of Coronado Avenue and Thermal Street. Across from Marian Catholic was the parochial K-8 school, Saint Charles Catholic School. The new campus is located in East Chula Vista, in close proximity to Otay Ranch Town Center. Its facilities include the Marian chapel, a track and football stadium, baseball and softball diamonds, tennis courts, full-service 800-seat theater, competition swimming pool, basketball/volleyball gym, environmentally friendly "earth bench". Mater Dei Catholic also sponsors Juan Diego Adult Center, which offers free English and citizenship classes, educational opportunities for personal development which empowers people to reach their full potential in regards to employment and participation in civic, community and parish affairs.

The Barnhart Cancer Center features a full range of cancer services from diagnosis to treatment and recovery.

Bonita (Spanish for "Beautiful") is a census-designated place (CDP) in southern San Diego County, California, nestled between the cities of Chula Vista, National City, and San Diego. The population was 12,538 at the 2010 census.
